2017-2018 Program Music and Choreographers

Horrible cuts, terrible choreography
Terrible choreography? I didn't see any choreography at all. It was like random pieces of music stuck together and them improvising on the ice. It was quite chaotic, random and empty of any choreography.

I have exclusive scoop! John Miles saw the video of Tarasova and Morosov's LP and was so inspired that he is recording a new version of "Music" in honor of the masterful rock'n'roll/boogie-woogie fantasy experience.

I am Tarasova
My partner’s Morosov
When this LP’s over
You’ll really be in love

With timeless, tasteful skating
Our music cuts are not a mess
In this sport of hating
You’ll love the yellow dress

The icon, Nina Mozer
The head honcho, we’re sure
Our rock, our boogie-woogie
Her ponchos, haute couture
Her ponchos, haute couture
Her ponchos, haute couture

All our stunning programs
Many gems from which to choose
We don’t do Muse or Coldplay
Or bastardize Footloose

To conquer old Aljona
Takes lots of art, and tech, and luck
We’ll literally stun you
Make you say “What the ****?”

The program construction
You won’t know where to look
It’s even more brilliant
Than work of Averbukh
Than work of Averbukh
Than work of Averbukh

I didn't realize until rewatch that Tarasova/Morosov are skating to a censored version of "Candyman" taking out the line about how the Candyman makes Xtina's cherry pop.

Not sure I can picture Pogo doing the traditional ballet swan. I would have liked something fierce and epic for the FS, but let's see where this goes.

For what I've seen of the pairs, Zabijako/Enbert's SP looks really good.
Haven't read many comments or A/R's FS. I love La La Land music, but the cuts were too many and too weird (if you are familiar with the music). I do think the program fits them (especially him) and they could add more details and more choreo from the movie, for example extend the 'A lovely night' section and banter more between the two of them. It's refreshing to have a charterer-based program.

I don't think that they went for a traditional ballet swan, considering that Morozov choreographed it. Think that it will be something like I/K's Swan Lake: dramatic, fierce and pretending to be balletic.

I actually quite liked both Z/E programs, their LP is a little bit boring but it may shine if they are clean :)
As for A/R's La La Land, I enjoyed the first part but after that they somehow lost me..

I think it will have a Pogo twist to it, for sure. I would be surprised, otherwise. Of course, in an Oly year, the 'surprise' might be trending toward the ordinary or traditional? Maybe? Regardless, It's Anna, :) so it should be epic! :respec:

Yes, but they did leave in the line that "he's a one-stop shop, he makes my p##### drop." (Not sure if if I can use the exact line without being censored.)

I feel that now S/H are OGM contenders and reigning World champs, the Chinese Fed decided to go super safe and not worry about making a statement but rather make sure their TES is in order and hope Turandot's music would carry them over PCS-wise.... Sure they're not alone with that, I just expected more from this team and more care from their handlers. Who knows? Maybe it's to make Zhang look better in comparison.

Maybe their handlers think they are giving more care? If the point is to win, I can see why they might think the safest route is the best one.

Brendan Kerry
FS: Valley of Dreams by John Tesh

From today's FS at Golden West
Kerry talked about spending 3 weeks in New Jersey working with Nikolai Morozov in this article: http://www.owia.org/figure-skating-news/brendan-kerry-is-all-business
I like the free program a lot. It’s native American and we were fine tuning every step and beat.”
“It’s hard working with Nikolai. Parts of my body were hurting that shouldn’t be by using different body positions. Doing movement is not enough. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve fallen over just doing his choreography.”
“Usually when I skate I have a very bad habit of remaining on axis no matter I do, but the way Nikolai is teaching me the program, there’s more extreme lean, using core strength and balance to maintain the position.”
“It’s very different how Nikolai goes about choreography. I feel like you tell people to do a rocker turn, but to Nikolai it’s not just how you do a rocker but that you could do it in a million different positions. He pushes the boundaries. Doing a rocker like everyone else isn’t good enough.”

:D Why is leaving "it" such a deal? as far as i am concerned, in this song's context p##### is an undergarment..... unless someone changes the song to "gay version".

Tinami Amori, I usually err on the side of caution lest someone on this board take offense to an even mild sexual reference that equates to the woman was "hot to trot" for her candyman.;) You just never know how some people will react.

Anna Pogo - loving her choices. Can't wait to see if this dark horse can rise to the occasion. 1st making the olympic team and secondly dethroning her Russian teammates at the Olympics (*slim chances but a guy can always dream).

Feathers.

The subject of tonight's lecture is feathers. The driving force that brings our ladies together.

So tonight we say:
Flap, Flap
Hiss, Hiss.
The Feather section.

Didn't Morozov choreograph Shizuka Arakawa's "Voidy Swan" SP from ca-2003? Trying to remember. This program:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yRkcOD2nIc

Oh, probably. Morozov's musical repertoire is as vast as a spot of tea in a teacup.

In all seriousness, I hope Anna is on the mend and that she will get out there and go about her normal job of nailing everything whenever we least expect it or her competition seems the most impossible.

Did Morosov choreograph her 2002-2003 routines? I know the FW section seems Morosov-y, but she was with Richard Callaghan at the time. The following year, she re-used that SP but it had been revamped under Tarasova when she moved to her a month before Worlds and the footwork showed off her bladework a lot more (well included more twizzles at least).

Actually I think this is a big step up from last year in artistry for Med. Chopin, no miming, finished movements -- win win win. Zagitova is going to have to push hard to beat this.

are you talking about her short program? if so she did that beautifully.
