Maybe it will turn into one of their Olympic programs? I am really curious about it after seeing what beautiful work he and Mirai did.I guess we'll never see the Jeffrey Buttle exhibition that they worked on last summer...unless Buttle was working on programs they already had.

My guess, based on how incredibly smart they are with their use of time and the people they work with, is they got a LOT done with Jeffrey Buttle in Toronto.
From a recent interview, they said he was a part of their 2016/17 program team. And, as implied in their TORONTO VLOG entitled "Really Secret Season Preparations" they did create an exhibition program. BUT I suspect that they strategically "banked" it for future use, the coming season. Assuming this is so, they effectively gain valuable time to focus on their Olympic competition programs.

Stéphane had an incredible Flamenco program so I wouldnt dismiss him as a Latin choreographer. They seem to like to use a few cooks. He could at least be a sous-chef on their SD.I just realize that if your theory is true, it means that Stephane´s choreo is FD because I don´t think they trust their latin program to a swiss guy. And if Stephane is making their choreo, most likely it will be similar to their exhibition ¨Do you remember¨. I like the idea.
eta. okay, basically is the same that VIETgrlTerifa said , haha

The Flamenco program, Poeta, was choreographed by Antonio Najarro, and Stéphane worked with him on this "Flamentango" piece too. I'm sure he learned a ton from their collaborations. Man, what a dancerly, silken skater he was (is)! It would be great if he could transmit those qualities to competitive skaters today. (I know various skaters he has worked with but I am not aware of any outstanding programs -- probably there are some that I dont know of.) Actually Najarro himself has done some notable ice dance programs, like I/K Carmen.) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nzWULsBnUxU
So who are possible likelier choreographers for their Latin SD?
Is anyone else concerned about the sibling aspect of their Latin dance? It doesn't really bother me but I know people will be bringing it up all season.![]()
What did you guys think of their 2011/12 SD? I didn't mind it and I thought they did the best they could with how restrictive the dance was at the time...but I can't help thinking how unlucky they are that Latin is the SD for the Olympics. Literally any other rhythm would be better for them than this.

The SD was more or less okay for Zhiganshina/Gazsi, but many people did not like the FD at all, especially the music cuts, the choreo/moves seemed to be too difficult for them, and both programs did not have enough transitions.I just found out that Stephane made the choreographies of Nelli ZHIGANSHINA / Alexander GAZSI 2014-2015 . I think he did a really good job.

But that was Stephane's first experience choreographing for ice dancers, and transitions (steps, changes of holds etc.) and elements were/are not his job. Maia and Alex have Marina and the team for that, and in Z/G's case it was their coache's fault that the steps were so standard and boring and there were not enough transitions. Stephane's job is to offer separate moves/parts of choreo and, perhaps, give an overall direction and/or "flavour" to the program. I also don't believe that Shibs could ever make such questionable music choices (like what Z/G had).
Actually it was never meant to be cocaine. They said in an interview that the idea was that they were snorting ice like it was their drug. The last song and the cocaine thing was too much, hahaha, but in general I liked it, and they were Z/G after all.

I am surprised that some readers think that the rhumba is a super sexy dance. It is on the dance floor, but not on the ice. A friend of mine who teaches Latin dancing thinks the ice dance version of rhumba is "bogus" (her word not mine). The Shibs should do a high-energy, fun Latin dance. I know they can do it. Let the rest do the typical "sultry, sexy."![]()
According to Sylvia, she heard that the Shibs were initially selected for WTT but declined the invite. They probably planned out their schedule from now to Pyeongchang, but I would have loved to see them compete at WTT for the first time ever.
Now that C/B announced that they've selected La La Land, I'm with everyone else who thinks the Shibs need to pick music that really gets the crowd going and is more overtly emotional.
Let's hope the Shibs take a lot of Latin dance classes this off-season and continue that during the season. A strong SD will do wonders for your standing going into a competition and the FD.
