"The Walking Dead": Any fans here?

Aren't all zombies...dead people? So by their very nature...will always be slow? Corpses are just kinda like that... :p

Wasn't there a comment on TWD about walkers looking thinner and moving slower since most would have been out of "food" for a long time?

Well, we knew stupid was a goner, but now he screwed up the plan as well. Rick should have shot him.

I needed that rock quarry scene. The visual of so many zombies in one area was amazing !!!

But :D .... I would have "suggested" blocking up both ends better, set fire to all the zombies in the quarry and use it as a burning pit. A good place for target practice too.

Alexandria is the longest place Rick and the gang ever stayed in the comics. Longer than at the prison.

I swear that Rick and company are the biggest group of drama queens on the face of the planet. Almost everybody else on earth are building cabins and tending to their gardens ever since they finished the log fence around their property that keeps all of the walkers out. At night, they read, perform skits, learn to play guitar, etc. But Rick and company just have a way of finding the biggest possible drama within their vicinity. Or is George just a WAY more messed up state than I've ever been aware of??

They have the blinkers on? Really?

Why...can't walkers see?

Well, we knew stupid was a goner, but now he screwed up the plan as well. Rick should have shot him.

It's the other way around. Carter should have shot Rick in that early scene at the house. All of this was Rick's plan. Carter argued about the viability of doing this, but Rick ignored him. Plus when Carter volunteered to go up front, Rick basically said, "sure Carter, go off on your own...I will allow that....and as a bonus, I will not send any experienced person along with you!" Rick is going to get everybody killed. And all of this was after he told Carter back at the house that he should have had lookouts. Umm, Rick, maybe YOU shouldn't let newbies run ahead on their own when you could have taken on that responsibility yourself as you're Mr. Wonderful!

The two guys Morgan threw in the car, those are the guys that should have been killed.

I think those two "W" guys are back at Alexandria is some big semi-truck blowing the horn that is wreaking havoc on everything. Once again, Rick takes all the warriors out on some lame plan of his and leaves the homestead vulnerable. Rick needs to be locked in a secure room and left to do needlepoint. Unless the tools for that are dangerous and he could use them to hurt himself or God knows who else... :(

I am now convinced that the existence of FTWD is just to serve the purpose of making TWD extra special.

Morgan is new - he needs to be way less judgmental.

Uh, Carol is back at Alexandria. They'll be fine. ;)

I agree they should've just blown up the zombies, but I suppose the noise just would've attracted more.

I enjoyed the little dialogue between Morgan and Carol IMMENSELY.

The episode 2 preview sees Father Gabriel telling Carl that he wants to help and learn - which leads me to suspect he might die in this very episode... (either that or he will develop into a useful contributor to the gang - this I can't stomach)

P.S. How Carl has grown...

One line from episode one was when Rick said to Daryl, "These people need to learn to take care of themselves...just like us" You mean the people who saved you when you were all living in a BARN with nothing to eat or drink? The people who were all living in a safe, well-functioning community...and since you joined it, there is mutiny, murder and whacked-out members of your group putting everybody in jeopardy? Meaning...

My guess is Father Gabriel. Good episode!

Why was Morgan the black guy they jailed instead of Father Gabriel? Or do they not know if was him who left the gate open? Wouldn't they have questioned everyone to find out who did that? Why they are letting Father Gabriel wander around wherever he wants to is beyond me. As the horns, I'm sticking with the "W" guys as doing that. I can't imagine Father Gabriel would do another major screw-up after his most recent failed gatekeeping error.

To me, this is another example of bad writing. Your idea makes sense, but the writers went with their option because it provides a lot of big-bang! moments for the show instead. All they had to do was build a small fence where the trucks were, but instead they built a MUCH larger fence at the junction where they needed hundreds (thousands?) of zombies to all make a sharp-right! And yes, once the small fence was constructed, Alexandria could have made bows and arrows and the whole town would have had a ton of archery practise eliminating every last zombie until everyone had the survival skills that....Rick said he wanted all of them to have.... OOPS...opportunity blown!

You're right that the scene was pretty awesome to watch, as was the long lines of zombies along the roadway...and then all of them moving through the woods towards Alexandria!

Morgan was jailed?

ETA: I see he was after re-watching a second time. Not sure why though - because he was a new member of the community and had to be investigated?

Are you suggesting they should have just killed all the zombies in the quarry?

That would have been a rather impossible task, especially with bows and arrows. Using guns, flares, and fire would have made made noise that could have attracted yet another herd.

I thought diverting them was a great plan.

Plus, fire doesn't kill zombies. We've already seen that. The only thing they could have done was dynamite the quarry and hope all the rocks fell down and buried them. Which they'd have had to use CGI to do since that was a real working quarry.

Peter, I take it you've not read the comics. Alexandria was already in trouble. There are others beside our stalwart troop who had their eyes on an easy prize. Others who make the Governor look like a sweetheart. The Alexandriaites were easy pickings.

WTF happened during the zombie apocalypse that left a very built up Alexandria of 200k+ people looking like rural Georgia?

They couldn't just fence the zombies in because the noise of that many was attracting even more zombies.

Now, maybe they could've found a way to corral all the zombies into the quarry after fortifying it all, but since the zombies were escaping and then the truck collapsed, that wasn't an option any more.

I will crap all over bad writing on this show (and I believe my history posting here will bear that out), but I thought it was explained well why this had to be the plan.

I don't really get why leading the zombies on a trek really makes sense though? I mean do zombies only travel in one direction? Would they have never returned?

Also at a certain point I'd think there would have to start being a thinning of the herd. There is a spreadsheet on the internet of 30-odd TWD characters having killed off 617 walkers during just the first 3 seasons. And yet here we are starting season 6 with the biggest group of zombies yet.

I told a friend of mine who is a HUGE fan of this show (and which I enjoy as a guilty pleasure) that it's just a soap-opera with zombies, and the season six premiere just seemed to reinforced that to me. They just need a good-and-evil twin duo to join the gang. :p

Another  moment for me from Sunday's episode was when Rick bellowed out to everyone, "Alexandra is not safe!!!" Of course it's not since you brought people like Father Gabriel here! Our walls were never breached until all of you showed up!

I am now convinced that the existence of FTWD is just to serve the purpose of making TWD extra special.

Morgan is new - he needs to be way less judgmental.

I wasn't sure about that scene at the end where Carter is bitten. At that point, Carter is a goner. Even though he's in incredible pain, he knows on some level that his screaming is putting everyone else in danger. Somebody has to act. Does Michonne step up? Does Morgan? No. They leave the dirty work to Rick. Rick does a mercy-kill as far as I'm concerned, Carter is not going to survive. It's better to keep Carter from suffering and kill him. At the same time, this silences Carter, which means safety for everyone else. But when Michonne and Morgan just look at Rick glumly...are they thinking Rick is a psycho for killing Carter? I thought their reaction should have been to console Rick for having to kill one of their group and thank him for doing the dirty work that they chose not to do. And to thank Rick for doing something difficult which created safety for everybody else.

 Peter, you wouldn't last a week in the apocalypse. If you've got any food stored up, send it to me so it won't go to waste. kthanks.

I would give you mercy, however

I'll be fine. I'll be like Tara and family and just stay inside and safe and live off pepperoni sticks for as long as I could. Plus I'd grow vegetables on the balconies and maybe the roof if possible so as to stay away from the zombies on the ground. Maybe find a pole vault or something similar and attach a spear to it. Every few hours, I'd clang garbage can lids together and attract zombies that I'd kill from a first-floor porch. I got a plan. :D

But as for showing me mercy...are you saying you're going to take on The Governor's role in the FSU apocalypse? :scream:

Um, how are you going to grow vegetables without seeds and soil?

 I take it you don't watch Z Nation. You'd understand the mercy reference.

Actually, I would take on the Carol role. You protect your own with what ever means necessary. Tribal law.

Um, how are you going to grow vegetables without seeds and soil?

Post-apocalyptic Peter G. would be the custodian of all green and growing things in Alexandria. :) Alexandria would have had soils and seeds worked into its concept as the 'start of sustainability'.

His team would have included the chubby woman who made prosciutto and the women who wanted to cook the favorite recipes of all the members of Rick's group.

Let's hope Alexandria retains the normalcy it needs for these things to go on. I'm hoping that the horn will be silenced and the diversion plan reinstated.

Carol :respec: Housewives of Alexandria indeed.

Enid is strange and I'm not certain what her purpose is.

Pastagirl was worried about eating that old pasta. Pity.

And, why didn't anybody put the knife in the brain when the girl died in the doc's office. I mean really people. We know what happens when people die.

I've always considered "The Walking Dead" comic about Rick and Carl. But the TV Show has given Carol the spotlight...in a very satisfying way.

I've been "Team Carol" over "Team Rick" for a few years now. :cheer2::respec::cheer2:

Secretly hoping for a Morgan/Michonne showmance....that lasts a long time.

It looked like Morgan was taking off for the hills to me.

I wondered if Enid was the plant sent by the wolves to scope out the place.

IMO the people of Alexandria are dumber than the FTWD cast and more annoying, so if we're moving past this stage, I'll be glad.

Okay, I get that Morgan doesn't want to kill people, but these people are attacking your people with f*cking machetes and talking sensibly to them isn't really going to work out well.

Carol :respec: and also Jessie was pretty awesome as well.

Carol is my hero!!! Loved her take-charge attitude. Loved her taking a W's clothing to disguise herself. Painting a W on her forehead with one of the dead W's blood. Loved her using Morgan as a "capture" to bypass (stupid) W's. Loved her protecting the armory. Loved her having dinner ready for everyone once she defended her town! :respec: Question though...did Carol stab the woman who was screaming after having been attacked? Or did Carol smother her? I think that woman had been cut with a knife...wasn't sure if she was going to die, so Carol did a mercy-kill...or if that woman's screaming was putting them both in danger, so Carol had to take her out. Either way, Carol did what she had to do.

I liked how the Mom of the two boys had a bolt on the inside of her closet to protect her son, the Alexandrians are good at something! (Well, their whole damn community is pretty good!!) I loved that Mom taking out her attacker, good to see an Alexandrian take action to save their own.

I also liked the shot where Carol (I believe) stabs somebody...and blood squirts out all over the lens of the camera! Quentin Tarantino would have loved that shot!

Carol rocked at the start of last season and now this season too! Loved how the dinner was cooked exactly when she finished defending the community.

I think the focus on Morgan's morals seems a bit redundant. We already have Father Gabriel and the rest of Alexandrians against killing people in defending themselves. And look what happens. :D The difference though, is that he actually CAN kill if he wants to. I am going to see he DID kill the long hair wolf which he placed in the car but should have killed at the end of last season.

Trivia: this must have been one of the few (or first ever?) episodes without Rick, Daryl and Glenn.
