ITA and have always thought that. Elaine was waaay more balanced in terms of jumps than Dubravcic who had a really consistent triple toe and a triple sal that was wrapped and appeared once in a blue moon. (She landed a sal at 1981 Euro's for sure.) The 'Zayak' rule did so much damage to Elaine. When she won Worlds she doubled the loop so only had sals (2) and toes (4). But at least she did them from differernt entrances and in differernt combinations. But that's all people remember her for instead of the many more balanced programs she did throughout her career.
I watched the US Ladies Documentary 'Fire on Ice' again the other night and all Evy Scotvold could say was 'she had a nice triple toe'. That always gets my back up because it's frankly not true. There was much more to Elaine Zayak than one jump and he knew it.
