MTE.Good to hear that Hanyu will take all the time he needs to heal fully.
Does anybody know if Mura's retired/retiring or just skipping these Worlds?Kazuki Tomono is replacing Hanyu, according to Japanese news articles - an exciting opportunity for him! He placed 4th (behind Takahito Mura) at Nationals and will turn 20 in May: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00013803.htm
Can they give it to their ladies?I hope Japan doesn't lose its 3rd spot, don't know why they need it, but i will still be sad.
It was a statement about other Japanese men, they have not been delivering.I'd rathercJapan lose its third berth than Hanyu aggravating his injury. Wise decision. Berths aren't the be all or end all

Tomono, a young teen who was 4th at Japanese nationals. I wonder what's up with Mura, who was the 1st alternate.Who will be replacing Hanyu?
I don't remember JSF announcing the Worlds alternates after Nationals in December? Perhaps they want to give the youngster Tomono a chance after Mura finished 12th at 4CC?I wonder what's up with Mura, who was the 1st alternate.

"Yuzuru Hanyu fought to defend his title at the Olympics when he hadn't recovered from his injury yet. I would like him to rest with his future in mind...we have relied on him until now a lot, but I'd like younger skaters to do their best to keep those 3 slots." - Kobayashi from JSF
The official statement has been translated here: https://twitter.com/wherespacepooh/status/971314129007980545
(He) has been diagnosed with “Damage to the lateral ligament of the right ankle and damage to the peroneal tendon”. It is said that he is expected to require 2 weeks of rest and 3 months of rehabilitation treatment.
Hanyu said: “Thank you so much for all the support up till now. Although with the results of the medical examination, I am unable to participate in the World Championships, in order to recover faster by even just one day, I will undergo both treatment and rehabilitation properly, and continue forward doing what I can little by little.”
I don't think I've heard anything official about his plan for next season but Mura is one of the members of Mao's brand new months-long tour "Mao Thanks Tour" which starts from May and the tour hired members for a year (to next March). Seeing photos posted on the site, it seems he's started practicing for the tour already. I wonder if he'll announce something sooner or later.T I wonder what's up with Mura, who was the 1st alternate.

I think you have to include Aliev in that mix given that he finished ahead of Kolyada at both the Olympics and Europeans. So a podium with three of Shoma, Jin, Chen, and Kolyada is looking likely in terms of making a prediction - although the Olympics certainly showed that such predictions can be totally off.
