Today Yuzuru performed Hope and Legacy at Heroes and Future ice show in Nagano: https://youtu.be/exJCrkkx070

The music of this program means a lot to him, it was from the Asian dream song that Joe Hisaishi wrote for Nagano Olympic 1998, the same time Yuzuru started skating at the age of 4. He jumped the 3Loop today. Not perfect but it is a good sign of Yuzuru getting his jumps back. He also did Ina Bauer into a beautiful 3A spread eagle. Hopefully Yuzuru will soon recover all of his jumps.

There was an announcement before Hanyu's performance and it said that "Haruyo Koi" was choreographed by David Wilson. https://twitter.com/yuzueco/status/1008257699451039744
This is the song https://youtu.be/gol5dFrv4Ao
The song means "Come, spring" (春よ、来い) - it was a song featured in a project by Yumi Matsutoya and NHK in support of the victims of the 3/11 disaster.

Yuzuru skates to the no-lyrics version. So it seems this will become his new exhibition program for the next season.

Here is the video of his performance at FaOI 2018: https://youtu.be/qZfsN0zFBJU

He looks like a sakura spirit to me. Very light like a sakura petal in the wind.

Jeffrey Buttle:
Ohh… Hanyu is kindhearted and determined. I believe those two qualities above all are what really come through in his day-to-day life. He’s always been so kind and… he hasn’t changed after winning two Olympic gold medals, he’s still very grounded and very honest. Um, determined– I’ve never seen anyone compete and train the way that he does day after day. It’s truly inspiring to see, inspiring to me, and inspiring to all the skaters around him.

The GP assignments: https://twitter.com/ISU_Figure/status/1012412978690514945

Yuzu got Helsinki (i.e. the Cup of not-China Nov 2.-4.) and Rostelecom (Nov 16.-18.)

ETA: cross-posting some info about the Helsinki GP
Press release in Finnish: https://www.stll.fi/2018/06/28/suomeen-gp-osakilpailu-2-4-11-2018/

It's in the old arena (Helsingin jäähalli), not in the bigger Hartwall arena where the Worlds were held.

They got asked one week ago if they could do it and they said yes.

Tickets go on sale in early August.

I am super excited and a bit surprised to see him on the grand prix assignments list. I would have figured after his historic 2nd gold he had nothing to prove, but I guess he is still hungry. I look forward to seeing him. I just pray however long he goes for he stops before a big injury.

Javi talked with the Olympic channel, he mentioned on Yuzu: "I think, Yuzuru, he’s a winner. He doesn’t take a second, or he doesn’t take a third. He wants to be the first and he is really good at that. He sells everything that he does on the ice, he sells really well. He is an amazing athlete, a great figure skater. I just think, he works a lot, and that shows in the competitions. I want to believe, being that way, being a winner, always trying to improve yourself, working really hard, is just the best way to be. That’s why he has been in the top for a long time and a lot of other skaters, they can’t. They cannot be for four, five or six years on top. It’s a hard job to do. I did it, he did it, a lot of skaters did it but not everybody can do that."

Also, JSF says Yuzuru will compete at Autumn Classic SC on Sep 20-22.

Today (30th Aug), Yuzuru announced his music for the new seasonー FS is called “Origin,” inspired by Plushenko’s legendary Nijinsky program under the previous 6.0 system & he intends for it to symbolize a new “beginning.” SP is “Otonal(秋によせて)” previously used by Johnny Weir.

according to the media day article from yahoo japan, yuzuru hanyu aims to launch the first 4a ever landed in history during this season
From https://twitter.com/michaeljardins/status/1035276368915980289

For my SP. I was impressed with Johnny's FS. And was pulled by the beautiful landing of his jumps.I thought that I want to jump and skate as he does. When I pick the ice by my right toe to attempt Lutz and flip, I feel discomfort occasionally but no more pain. About new rule. It may seem easier that now FS is 4min, but actually not, it's more hectic. My motivation is 4A. I haven't successfully landed it yet. But I practice it while I enjoy the process. I want to attempt this jump in this season if that's possible.

"The beginning of my skating life, the origin -- I want to skate while feeling like I did when I first began," Hanyu said in a practice at his training base in Toronto.
"Origin" features songs used in routines by Russian legend Evgeni Plushenko and American Johnny Weir, skaters Hanyu admires. He said he chose the music in order to "get back to enjoying skating, to slide while feeling like I'm doing it for myself.

To be honest, up until now, I had the enormous pressure within myself that I must skate no matter what, I must answer the hopes upon me, I must get these results. Now I've been released, and I am thinking from now, it might be ok to really skate for myself. Really, the thing that started me skating was that it was fun. I skated, I chased my dreams, the process was really fun. When I think back to the truly tough road I've walked so far, there was a feeling of wanting to repay or reward that past self, so I chose these two pieces.
