And we're back to scheduled programming with Nakamura after one great SP. I have no idea how such an inconsistent skater survives at Hamada's rink of death.

Nakamura - sigh... Is everyone ready for two Io Caro Sio programs in a row? fall on the 4t to open; 3a+2t good; 3z+3t good; 3f skiddy landing up on his toepick; 3a good; 3z+2a+2t okay-ish; 3lo ehhh kind of leaning a bit on the landing but stayed up; this is going to drop below Hagara & Choi - or it should at least.

I feel like it's almost unfair for someone like Hagara to still be competing as a Junior skater with his numerous appearances at Europeans and Senior Worlds already.

That issue is going to be somewhat closed because of the minimum age for Senior being so close to aging out of Juniors now, but it's happened from the start of time.

Sui & Han were doing it, Metelkina & Berulava here, Kao Miura won 4CC and then went to this event a few seasons ago, Julia Lautowa was top 10 at Worlds in 1997 and still going to Junior Worlds in 2000, etc.

Sanchez - okay, time to be seriously nervous... Never has he needed to deliver a completely clean program now more than ever... 3a+3t great; 3a excellent; 3lo nice; 3f+2t good; pops the 3z and falls out of the 2a seq; 3s good; 3lz clean... But, this isn't going to be enough to stay ahead of Hagara, unfortunately. Dangit. Now, he and the USA need help to get 2 JGP spots at all 7 JGPs next season. :(

Rio is intense and determined like no other junior I've seen in quite some time. He's always commenting on needing to skate perfectly and how disappointed he is with the smallest of issues. Since he started with one, let's see..

I think he's going to jump right into senior at the big levels just as Kagiyama was able to do.

Lutz landing sketchy, three-jump sequence you could see he wanted another 2A but didn't do it (ETA never mind he had an Euler sequence). First 4T probably wasn't rotated, so definitely kept the door open more than usual.
