Wildfires 2021

Both Dixie and Caldor are slowing becoming contained:

The massive Dixie and Caldor fires burning in the Sierra are now about 65% contained, but crews says the threat of spread is increasing as the moisture from recent rainfall dries up, making forest fuels more flammable, and high winds are forecast for the coming days.

Firefighters continued to make progress on the Caldor Fire, reaching 65% containment as of this morning, and holding the lines south of the Tahoe Basin and east of the Kirkwood Mountain Resort.

We have a new fire up here in northern California. 4,000 people are under mandatory evacuation and 30,000 are under an evacuation warning. It was arson caused and they have the arsonist in custody - a 30 year old Palo Alto woman who seems to have been on a crime spree this week. Last night when it started, the fire was at 50 acres when I went to bed; it had grown to 800 acres by morning, and now it's at 5,500 acres with only 5% containment. It's not close to my house, but people I know are in the evacuation zones. We need it to rain again. :(
