What do I wear? (Electric Boogaloo)

I could really use some ideas for what to wear to our high school graduation ceremony. As a school board member, I will be on stage handing out diplomas & shaking hands, so I'll be in a lot of photos. When seated, there will be nothing in front of me, so no skirts/dresses unless they are over-the-knee long. My preference, though, is pants, probably dark blue or black. I need a top with at least cap sleeves, but it will be hot in the gym, so hoping to avoid a jacket. (I will not wear sleeveless tops to this event.)

And I am in rural Idaho, so think "kind of professional" but nothing fussy. I need to essentially fade into the background and let the students be the entire focus. I am 53 years old, a size 6-8 and tend to dress on the conservative side.

Anyone want to offer up ideas?

My honey, that is really cute! I'll look at it in person the next time I'm at the mall. I never would have thought about a jumpsuit, but that is a great suggestion!

At TJMaxx. I'm eyeing a silver and black DVF crocodile pattern jacket $60 (from $500) someone talk me out of buying this. :x

I'm guessing that is amazing and you are in the wrong thread for anyone talking you out of it!

Aww I'm sad this Tahari merino wool cardigan has a giant hole in the middle of the knitting, in the front. I could fix it but it's a variegated yarn so whatever I have (or find) won't match. :(

IT'S SO SOFT. :wuzrobbed

Bumping up this thread because I'm in need of ideas! I'm attending an evening wedding here at the end of April, and am having such a hard time deciding what to wear! The invitation says formal attire, which I've ascertained means a dressy cocktail style dress. I'm just having a hard time finding something that's not homecoming/skintight clubwear or mother-of the-bride, AND within my budget (which is $100 at the very very most but would like to stay a lot lower). Where do I even look?

Do you have a quality consignment; or thrift shop with wealthy donors (better quality things) in your area?
Don't laugh...I buy most of my high quality wardrobe on eBay; for very little!

I got my formal at a thrift store (there is one in my town with a dressing room, where things can be tried on!)
