I wish they switched their primary coach to Igor or Pascale instead of you know who.
You know who....has certainly improved their speed and basic skating skills and has made other improvements. Pascale is a great choreographer though not too sure about Igor on that...although technically he is super on details.

Weaver looked pleasantly surprised by their marks in the free skate.

I'll be curious to see how P & C are scored in comparison under the revised IJS.
I'd say she looked surprised for a short moment before she remembered that the scoring is very different this season.

P/C will most likely get between 85 and 90 in the RD and over 132/133 (or even more) in the FD.

But I am also certainly rooting for W/P on the podium. I'd even say silver at this point, but first I have to see H/D's programs at another competition when they will be more ready.

Not to distract the conversation, but I will be interested to see if the judges just move to max out the top scores instantly in the first season after the Olympics leaving there no room to move for the rest of the quad - unless they continue to adjust the scoring system to make the highest score higher each season so it doesn't look like scores are stagnating. I would imagine they will give some room to allow growth over the quad. So everyone can make a big deal of world records being broken at the Olympics. Or maybe not.

At the 2032 Olympics everyone will be scoring 180 in the free dance! ha ha

I positively love their tango and as usual Kaitleen's costume. Her pink dress is gorgeous and so fitting to the dance. I'm not as enthousiastic about their FD (yet).

You know who is a great ID coach regardless of his other issues. Oh, what he could have accomplished with I/K if Katsalapov were coachable. Sigh.

But nonetheless, I swoon at their gorgeous SD and their execution of it!!

I don't quite get their FD, but in all honesty, I'm still waiting to be genuinely moved by a FD this season, maybe it will grow on me. Onwards to French Masters!!

I would like to see them on the world podium. If I was not rooting for P&C, I would be rooting for W&P for gold.

Well, I think P&C are well ahead of the rest of the field for now, so they shouldn’t have too much trouble keeping the top spot. However, it’s my dream to see WeaPo pass everyone else, so let’s root for a world silver medal here! #poorZach

I cringe every time I think of The Six Wives of Nikolai Morozov (okay I don’t think he’s reached six yet, but I’ve honestly lost count). On the other hand, I can respect what he’s done for Weaver/Poje as a coach and choreographer. It’s definitely not ideal imo, but if Kaitlyn and Andrew are okay and comfortable with the arrangement, then I won’t meddle.

Agree. I have noticed that in the Kiss & Cry, Andrew always sits between Kaitlyn and Coach. I presumed it was as a "safety buffer" per request of Kaitlyn. But this could be my imagination running wild. :p

My friends and I have noticed this too. There was one comp where Nikolai put his hand on Kaitlyn’s knee and she pulled away, so I can only assume she’s not comfy with him. Andrew is always very protective and gentlemanly, as he should be.

Weaver and Poje have weak twizzles especially Poje, their free dance is very good this year though , we will see their skating seemed improved.

yurokis40 - Yes, W/P's twizzles are a serious weakness for them, but Gilles/Poirier have also made mistakes in twizzles quite often (mostly not so visible at first glance, but they have lost levels on those mistakes) .

WeaPo are looking great, especially for a team approaching veteran status, if they haven't already. Hope their approach works. It must have been such a difficult decision. I guess I will personally reap the benefits as I will be attending the Thank You tour :) I feel very lucky :)

Re twizzling - I know we have only seen them once, but they kind of look like they have just gone back to their former twizzles technique....i.e. they just took their time and were successful here. I may be wrong. They certainly look stronger and more powerful in everything else.

And they say Igor actually choreographed their tango. Well done Igor, because I love it. The opening moves are soooooo silky and beautiful.

Plenty of practice time, including regular consults with ice dance technical specialists, is part of the program.

"We will not be dilly-dallying, we are very, very organized,” Weaver said. “This presents a unique challenge for us, one we’ve never done before, I don’t know if anyone has ever done it before. We’ve scheduled our down time with (technical) callers, with our coaches. The producers of the show know we are competitors and that is our main goal, so it’s a give-and-take with the show. It’s a risk, but it’s one we are ready and excited for.”
Sounds like they have a plan all step up. Hopefully it works out for them.

Well, I think P&C are well ahead of the rest of the field for now, so they shouldn’t have too much trouble keeping the top spot.

At the moment it looks like they've got top spot locked up for the next quad, which to me makes ice dance less interesting. Especially since I'm not a P/C uber. But even so, I always enjoy skating more when there is actual competition.

At the moment only H/D can possibly rival P/C but they have work to do before

However, it’s my dream to see WeaPo pass everyone else, so let’s root for a world silver medal here!

Rooting, not waiting, and remembering all the times that skaters have surprised me.

Kaitlyn has done an interview with Anastasia Bucsis’ excellent podcast Player’s Own Voice.

This is a very very interesting and insightful interview. Highly recommend.

A big portion of the interview is dedicated to discussing Kaitlyn and Andrew's devastation at being left out of the team event at the Olympics, then recouping to win the bronze medal in Milano. Some lovely quotes from Kaitlyn about loving Canada.

I love their perserverance and work ethic they have 2 stunning programs this year, their FD is the best work they have ever done even better than je suis malade, the judges will not be able to deny them at worlds, they might even win I feel the French will struggle under the new goe system , Guillaume has already injured his back doing harder lifts.
