WEAVER AND POJE: The Future is Golden

I am sure Weaver and Poje sit in the category of skaters who skate because they enjoy the process, the training and the lifestyle. It is hard to predict what their choices will be just based on what placements we think they might get. I think that will only be a part of their consideration.

They are currently back at Hackensack Ice House working on show numbers for Stars on Ice.

I don’t think so though. This is a good high to go out on.
I don't think this a good thing for 2 of Canada's top teams to retire.... The younger teams (i.e. SF and LL) still need time to evolve before they will be contenders. But, I guess that's not really part of decision making for WP and VM.

G&P are still competing. I would love to see W&P stay but if they wish to move on... Canada has a top ten team in the wings that would love to be #1 for team Canada

Kaitlyn: I think one of my favorite moments was fan-girling at all of the people that I have watched on TV, because I feel like I am the skating fan that made it [to Worlds], like: I was everyone’s biggest fan!

I noticed that Kaitlyn used the word fan-girling in her IS interview. Maybe she reads FSU?

If you google "fan-girling", you get 3 630 000 results. And "fangirling" gives you 11 200 000 search hits. It's a very common expression, not only on fan forums, but on social media in general.

But considering that in this interview they admitted to reading through music suggestions coming from fans etc., I wouldn't be too surprised if they've sometimes visited some skating forums. (Yikes.)

BTW... Whatever you think of Morozov, he did give them A+ advice on their strategy this past season, so props for that.
With „Spartacus”, we sat down with Nikolai and he was like: You know what? We need to state our case now. There’s no time, this is not a normal season.

And he is the Olympic guru: he gets the Olympics, he understands timing, he just… he knows. Period. And he was like: We don’t have time to let this grow. It could be good by the end of the season, it will be good by the end of the season!, not the end, but with time… It was a difficult program, but he said: With these feels, and with this season, we need to do your best thing now!

And he said: We need to go back to “Malade”.

The Inside Skating Interviews are always interesting to read as they directly transcribe the skaters' own words. So you can almost hear them talking in your head. And it's all fairly unfiltered (lol I remember the fuss P/Cs Inside Skating interview caused last year because of the unedited transcribing). Florentina lets the skaters just talk and so it can be interesting to see what they say when they are not always being prompted and directed.

Of interest:

Kaitlyn: You know, there were some moments – almost for the first time, I think – within the past month, so from the end of the Olympics, where I felt like: You know what? I’m ok if this is it. And that’s the first time that ever happened.

But do I think we’re gonna finish? …No. Probably not.

But we’re getting to a place not only in our career, but in our lives, where we’re enjoying it just for what it is.

And Andrew said it: we’ve accomplished everything we wanted to, and we do it for the joy of it. And wherever this takes us now… I don’t know where we’re gonna be a year from now, but wherever it will be, it will be with our hearts – because we do this because we love it, and for no other reasons.

I think it's because they felt Shanghai Worlds was the beginning of their struggles as per the interview.

I really hope that they decide to continue for the next 4 years! I am surprised that they don't have any strong attachments to their Four Seasons program. I thought it was one of their best, particularly in terms of execution!

Their 4 Seasons program never appealed to me.

Well they were quite the favourites going in and ended up 3rd... that must have been already a bit tough, but they did bounce back next season. They have 2 GPF titles !
I just wondered what happenned between Canadian Nationals and 4CC. Did they knew V/M were coming back ? Or was it just a fluke performance on the FD ?
I did not quite understand why everyone said that they wouldn't medal at Worlds back then because of their return... well they did make mistakes but still.
And then the last 2 seasons were really tough but it was amazing to have 4th place at Worlds last year and 3rd this year. Because I did not really know if I felt they were overshadowed or almost "giving up" fighting for a top spot.

I am sure they knew that VM were coming back. We'll never know how much that effected them psychologically (especially when they probably thought that they would be Canada #1 heading into the 2018 Olympic Games).

As I've posted elsewhere - maybe in this thread - I think W/P do it for the love of it. They have lived much of their career in V/M's shadow, but it never stopped them. They said in a interview that it is the performance that matters to them, not the placement - I know that skaters say that all the time, but in this case I believe it is really true.

W/P skated with heart and joy at this Worlds, and IMO it is that which put them back on the podium.

On another note - I have loved each and every dress/costume Kaitlyn has ever put on that beautiful back of hers. From how she styles her hair to her exquisite taste in clothes and matching them to music, she is second to none. She has also seems to have found a weight/muscle ratio that works for her and accentuates her long lines.

Kaitlyn posted on her Instagram stories a video of her, Andrew and Pasquale out to dinner which was was captioned 'what's our next exh music going to be, boys' and she has shared a short on ice video of new choreography.

It seems likely they are putting together a new program for Canadian Stars on Ice. I am happy to see them back on the ice together with Pasquale. It was great seeing him in the Kiss n Cry with them at Worlds.

ok....never ending story....I can't find Kaitlyn's twitter...only one for her and Andrew so I went to instagram where I don't know how to DM....and I fell over Madison Hubbells instagram and I am in shock...

I'm pretty sure the twitter for her and Andrew is basically just Kaitlyn running it. Andrew usually isn't much of a social media guy.

For some tech help - I think you need to use the instagram app on your phone to direct message. There's a big button called 'message' at the top of each person's profile.

P.S I'm not so much surprised by Madison and Adrian, they have seemed like they were very steady for some time now.
