Exactly....Pairs is my fav as well and I like quite a few of them...Most important..that they are happy with their performance...who the hell knows what the judges are going to do.

I really would love GHOST as a FD. They skate it so beautifully. I'm usually not someone who cries over skating (well besides pairs but that's for different reasons lol) but this Ghost got me a little choked up, so I'd say they're doing a darn good job at acting it all out.
In general, I just love WeaPo and want to see them medal again. TBH I've never been the biggest Virtue/Moir fan, and while Papadakis/Cizeron are talented, their style isn't quite for me. WeaPo are my ideal ice dance couple.

WeaPo will never medal internationally again.... V/M coming back just knocked them off the podium...
 
It'd also be nice if they stick around until at least 2020, they'd be the top Canadian team at a home Worlds. It would probably end well.

Since they're still improving I'm hoping next year isn't it for them, onwards and upwards til 2022. :shuffle:

I personally think it's is a mistake to underestimate the will and drive of W/P. Especially Kaitlyn. We shall see. I believe in them with all of my heart :)

sorry I think W/P are finished, the way the judging is and will be, there is no room for them. Hope I am wrong :)
 
I think they are on their way down. i like them and I hope I'm wrong but it is my impression that, at least in the past, once a dance team started to move down it was a sign of the beginning of the end as far as medals were concerned.

They almost medaled at Worlds! They are at a great place in their training. They are discovering themselves as artists and are skating much cleaner. They are awesome people and have never complained.

If you're still improving, age is just a number and after next season there'll be a free spot for a Canadian team in Marie-France's camp :DLauz1::mitchell: Get that world title Kaitlyn and Andrew!:cheer:

IMO Weaver & Poje and Hubbell & Donohue are the medal-spoiler teams to keep an eye on next season. Don't count either team out.

There's the positivity I like to see! Remember the Shibs? They were 3rd in their world debut and slid down, down, down before things turned around and they started winning everything. Kaitlyn and Andrew are slowly going on the up climb now; they just got new PB's and everything! If you don't know down, you won't appreciate up!
And might I remind you that Papadakis and Cizeron went from 13th to 1st at worlds in a matter of one year? Things change quickly in ice dance!

Kaitlyn and Andrew have been here there and everywhere working on choreography for their new programs. Very intrigued to see what they come up with. It looks like they will be taking advantage of a lot of outside choreography this season.
 
I would like to see W&P stick around for another quad. I don't know if this is in the cards for them, but I hope they will consider it.

I wouldn't be so quick to write them off just yet. Ice dance is a bit more flexible re movement up and down the ranks than it used to be.

I love W/P but I can't see them staying another four years.Same with C/L .Both couples been around a long time and are all in the late twenties? Maybe they will evaluate after olympics .If V/M retire again and they're back to number one they may consider another couple of years.

Just a nitpick but they never retired so there is no again ;) But agree with the other part, W/P and C/L are the same age as V/M (ITA a bit older). Can't see either of them skating another quad, this is their last Olympics. But I can see both hang on for worlds although I imagine P/C will also go to worlds so it won't be quite like 2014 Worlds but it would be nice for W/P to have that title.
 
Well, they could always be like the Pang/Tong of ice dance and never retire (I can only dream).

They are still improving so much with each season, so I think it would be great to see them carry on until perhaps 2020 when Worlds are in Canada. I get the impression that recently they are more inspired and focused than ever.

I suppose we will hear more of their intentions as the Olympics become closer. Chances are they will be making any decision about retirement after the Games.

I respect your opinion :) Yes, they lost a couple of placements etc. but as others have stated, they are on the rise again. Can't wait to see the new programs and the fruits of their relationship with John Kerr and others.
 
Weaver and Poje have some technical issues to overcome. Big ones. If they do that , mesh with the right choreographers , then cool. Btw, i wasn't all goo-goo eyed at what Lori did for them either.

She is a Canadian choreographer, she's doing contemporary dance, I know her mainly from her work with Helix Dance Project. She also choreographed WP's "Song for you" exh couple of years ago.
I'm really excited about them working with her again, she is great!
I'm also like that they are working with specialists who usually don't do ice dance, Linda and Lori might bring something really fresh and interesting

They have collaborated with John Kerr earlier this summer and now Lori Nichol. This is sooooo exciting. I worship Lori. Cannot wait to see these programs. Good for WeaPo. They never rest on their laurels.
 
This is the first time since the move to Morosov that I am intrigued and excited to see what they show. They could be spoilers for next season.

ETA...weird typo that happened there for Morosov lol

Awesome news! :cheer2: they're going to be massively improved next season IMO.

Worlds are in Canada in 2020. The pairs skaters are skating into their mid-thirties now when difficulty is at an all-time high. Ice dancers don't do throws, jumps, overhead lifts, etc.

I don't see the problem with Weaver & Poje sticking around another quad, Canada could really use them in Beijing 2022 for the team competition because they're lacking in upcoming talent for next quad. All they'd have is Gilles & Poirier for the next 4 years, that's kind of sad compared to these past two quads innit? :violin: I hope they Pang/Tong their way into the new quad and :kickass: like a granny/grandpa that still know how to boogie.
 
It's quite something how Kaitlyn and Andrew are showing so much improvement years into their careers. If you watch their free dances back to back you can really see it. They keep pushing themselves to improve and I think (based on what we've seen from Lori's Ghost exh) that seeking out Lori for FD choreography was a smart move. I think the training move from Detroit to New Jersey has been quite reinvigorating for them.

I would love to see them keep going. I feel like they still have untapped potential. Especially as there wont be a great deal of depth in Canadian ice dance after 2018. A chance at a medal in the 2022 team event would be incentive enough (if they miss out again in 2018).

Although I am sure this level of training and traveling would be exhausting and they may have other things they want to do with their lives. But I would still love to see them keep skating. If any team could Pang/Tong it, it would be Kaitlyn and Andrew!
