WEAVER AND POJE: The Future is Golden

Kaitlyn posted an update on the condition of her injury on instagram:
I don’t take injuries lightly. I take good care of my body, but sometimes the path is redirected and you’re faced with no choice but to take BETTER care. After being literally brought to my knees in pain in my back and ribs, I️ decided to listen a little more intently.
Every great comeback of ours begins in Toronto, and after almost two weeks with my magician, Marla Pichler and her crew at Sports Medicine Specialists, I’m standing tall and feeling healthier than ever. THANK YOU Marla, Je-An Salas @articulatebodies, Dr. Julia Alleyne, and @shaechez for helping put me back together (again!) I am so happy to be feeling strong and truly can’t wait to get back to work. Most of all, I miss my teammate and #1 Andrushichka-Padushichka @apoje. •

At one point they were slated to do the Christmas on Ice show in Japan, did they withdraw from that?
Wish we could be sure about this but as was posted from Kait's instagram, she just finished some physiotherapy so not sure what's up next for them other than getting back on the ice training.

Anyone else wondering what their costumes will be like for Je Suis Malade? Based on the last comments I heard from them, they were going to stay with a similar theme but just fresher and updated. Sorry if they have already worn the new ones and I have missed it. I have always felt Kaitlyn has excellent taste and a great dressmaker so I am expecting to like their look on the ice.

Kaitlyn wore the updated dress at both Skate Canada and IPF. It still has the cowl neck and dangling strap but it was a new dress, I loved the color. In the fluff piece they did prior to comps, they went to a dressmaker to update the costumes before Skate Canada. Andrew is wearing a newer shirt but it's still grey. He looks great but I still would like to see something different than the grey shirt and pants. But then again, both their costumes fit the theme.

My heart breaks for their mess up on SD at Canadians, but I know they will come back strong in the FD! Hey, I lived through DW's OD from Hell (CoR 2008) so I'll survive this one! Stay strong, WeaPo, I know you can do it!

Kaitlyn quote "I'll still love him, no matter what". This. WeaPo have the credentials all the way to be named to the Olympic team, not an issue. I will be hoping for a stellar FD today so their confidence will be where it needs to be. They are fighters, always have been, and so together in their mindset. Just go get it, WeaPo, you know you got this!

Like everyone else, I am gutted that twizzle disaster struck in the middle of what looked to be W/P best SD performance ever. You can see how improved they are, but sometimes weird, unexpected, stuff happens, in or off ice, perhaps it's just the skategods getting bored and throwing a cat amongst the pigeons, testing to see who winds up in teeth and who manages to fly away. It's life and show what athletes are made of, and certainly W/P have been tested and fleeing more black cats than most! It's tough to be up against what many feel is among the best teams in the history of dance. But, they took a Jackie Chan approach and instead of being done in by circumstances they simply chose to change them, they went back to the drawing board and came back from adversity ready to rumble and show the world they are still part of the conversation! So, things went wrong with 1 element, a very costly element, but anyone with eyes could see how improved they are, overall.

Sometimes bad things happen to the best athletes, things don't go to plan, timing is off, or goal posts keep shifting, motivation/confidence is lost (there was a lot of that happening on day 1 of Sr. Nationals; Andrew had some stellar company). Being able to rise up after a disaster, or period of testing often elevates the promising athlete, or previously decorated one, from good to epic greatness...

Late January and February is often a time showcasing reversals of fortune. Balde had his stars line up last night after a long period of testing, can he keep it going? Will Osmond, Chan, W/P battle back to remind us of their potential for greatness in coming days? Will V/M, D/R, Daleman continue their winning ways? Should be a very interesting period from Vancouver till Milan as the story unfolds...

The deduction for the error was extreme. But they will get their spot tomorrow. The quality of the rest of their skating should have made up the difference today. But their FD is beautiful, and their skating is in line with the top teams in the world.

Their SD was also beautiful. But Skate Canada politics are dirty. We will see what we will see.

They have not bothered to change their twizzle technique and it’s been weak for years. The first was a mistake. The second was just a lack of concentration. Their training , at this point should have snapped them into the second set. Still , Watching how far her heart sank after that mistake was tough. I hope they come in at least second in the free. I just have questioned this teams motivation, ESPECIALLY AFTER Tessa and Scott returned.

Their Twz haven't always been the best, it's true.
Actually, they had a bad skate at 4CC 2016. Then V/M announced their return. Then Worlds wasn't great either. Then it went a bit downhill. But it did feel like they gave up at some point.
They should take some things from the Shibs who are always saying : "we are going for OGM", instead of showing that you'll settle for (way) less. Mentally it's VERY tough.
And they should skate for themselves, not skating for a placement. We'll see tonight.

With the way WP switched coaches, training styles, locations, and basically upended their entire lives in order to improve their skating, I think motivation is not a problem in the least. Everyone has bad days. They're past it and ready for the FD, like the champions they are.

It sucks that they knew they had to change coaches but who to? They lured Morozov out of obscurity which is fine but the first free by Lori... scratched. They’re redoing Shae-Lynn’s program which just doesn’t have the magic it once had. I do like their short i just thinkmentally they’re struggling. I hope they kill it in the free.

So they killed it! Loved the FD, it was superb. Everything was smooth, passionate, and just so good! So happy that they did that, it was the confidence boost they needed. And just one point from silver, but who cares? They are #2 (the FD score showed that) and everyone knows it. Was just a bad day for their SD. Today they skated liked they we know and love. Olympics, here comes WeaPo!

They were great today but somehow it just felt like an old FD. I really liked P2's more sophisticated and innovative take on the Bond theme. This had better not be the last season for W/P because I'd like to see them go out with something a bit more interesting than JSM.

So I've watched the FD from Canadians too many times to count! And now I'm thinking about how much this dance really has evolved for them. The emotion, the passion they showed came from inside them and they just poured it out. I feel that the emotional low they felt from the short dance just inspired them and they were most definitely in a "you and me" mindset for that free dance. The support from the audience BEFORE they skated was so heartfelt, the entire arena cheering them on, one section at a time as they skated around the rink. I just felt like they skated JSM with much more maturity, certainly their life experience since 2012 has helped them to tap into that. And not only that but their actual skating skills was superb, every element just a work of art. Seeing V/M skate later, I was so impressed with the sheer perfection of their skating, so in sync, such unison...but I felt much more watching WeaPo...they showed us their hearts. I wish them all the best for Pyeong Chang! And I really hope they aren't done yet!

I'm watching the gala from Canadians on TSN now, and... am I the only one who thinks they were crazy to not turn their Ghost exhibition program into this season's FD, especially after how well it was received when they first skated it in exhibitions and shows last year? It would have been a zillion times better than Spartacus and something newer than "Je Suis Malade".

Well, personally I think "Ghost" is the most romantic, beautiful, heartfelt ice dance program ever and they skate it beautifully. As a FD, it certainly could work but would need a good deal of adjustment for the required elements. But as an exhibition it is perfect and really shows them off. No doubt it is one of their best skating programs, when they do programs like Ghost, Romeo and Juliet, and Your Song...they just shine. They are perfection when it comes to romance, imo.
