Volosozhar & Trankov are getting married. Moskvina's all-time best programs are based on love and beauty and chemistry. They have some of the prettiest lines and executed elements of all-time. They don't need to leave Moser, they need input on fresh and beautiful Peter Tcherntshev and Tamara Moskvina inspired choreography..

I have rarely seen such an obvious decision in figure skating.

Do it. :skandal

There will be 10's and there will be tears. :wuzrobbed

Vasiliev is a boob.

I love their lines and big positions in the lifts, and feel that Tamara/Peter could also help in this area.

Any choregrapher than Morozov can do better programs for these two. I don't understand what's going on with Arena. He was supposed to work with Mozer's skaters.

Thanks, boryaza! I was really hoping someone would translate the Mozer article. Poor Max.

If you have time, would you mind giving the highlights about Mozer's other pairs? :)

With all the wedding discussions, I've completely forgotten that I already began to make a short summary of the Prosport article, and then forgot about it. :D
This article is focused more on the specialists of Mozer's group than the skaters. Here are the main highlights.

-------------------------
The group, apart from V/T, S/K and T/M, includes 19 more pairs. There are six coaches, three choreographers, a fitness coach, two doctors and two massage therapists.
-------------------------

Nina Mozer was born in Kiev, her father was a national champion in tennis, and her mother was a national champion in ice dancing. She was going in for skating when she was a kid, but at the age of 15, due to problems with her leg she finished with it, and began to try her hand in coaching almost at once. Before 2010 she had worked only with juniors, but in 2010 she took Tanya and Max who had just begun to skate together. Tanya had to get the Russian citizenship, and Max had a reputation of being quarrelsome. He was saying this himself "I know that I'm hard to deal with, I know that". And NM said, "Yes, but am I trying to change you? I accept you as you are" Max was very much surprised by that.

Soon her group became attractive for other top skaters, so S/K and B/L came to her group, too.

Mozer is good at organizing the working and training process, she had learnt from her own coaches to work like that - to make a plan for a season at first, then to divide it to macrocycles and microcycles, to alternate properly the periods of training and the periods of rest. It's said that Lyudmila Velikova works in the same way, too.
------------------------------------------

Stanislav Morozov, who was Tatiana's previous partner, is now a coach in Mozer's group. He continues to work with Tanya and Max, and also coaches a junior pair. He says that Tanya and Max gelled very fast in their first year, though they had to work a lot at their twist, because Stas had been doing a twist in quite a different way, than Max does. Stas doesn't say much about V/T's new programs, he only says that they will make more complicated lifts and maybe jump elements, but no quad throws or quad twists, as they can't be sure yet, how Max's shoulder will react to such load.
--------------------------------------------

Vladislav Zhovnirsky works with three pairs. When he has time, he also helps his wife who works with small kids. He says that when children begin to learn pair elements, it's very essential that a boy is guided by a male coach, because he can help and give him advice from his own experience.

His first students were Fedorova/Miroshkin; he also has been working with Stolbova/Klimov since they came to Mozer's group. He says that they had the chances to become leaders in the past season, but they were probably too burnt-out emotionally since the Olympics, though their physical shape was ok. S/K are preparing to do the quad throw, they work at it at the trainings, though with the safety equipment yet.
-------------------------------------------

Andrei Khekalo works with Evgenia Tarasova/Vladimir Morozov; besides, he is a coach of jump technique. He had worked with single skaters before, at first in Novosibirsk, than in CSKA, and then came to Mozer's group. He says that Vladimir Morozov could do only two jumps when they had just begun to work together, so they had to put a lot of work in jumps. As for Evgenia, she was a single skater before, he already could do all the required jumps, but she had to get used to work with a partner. Apart from Khekalo, T/M are also coached by Robin Szolkowy, who is beginning his coaching career; besides, Trankov worked with them as a choreographer.
--------------------------------------------

Vitaly Moskalenko is a fitness coach. He was a track-and-field athlete, and worked with track-and-field athletes before.
---------------------------------------------

Alla Kapranova is a choreographer of Mozer's group. She is very active and energetic, though she had been planning to retire before she was invited to Mozer's group. It was her idea to put Evgenia and Vladimir together in a pair. She says that Vladimir is emotional enough, but Evgenia lacks it for now. She teaches her to express herself, and Evgenia learns quickly. Kapranova says the Tatiana also used to be shy and reserved on the ice, when she was beginning to skate with Max, but now she is marvelous.

-----------------------------------------

Alexander Klyuikov is a massage therapist. He has been working in sports medicine for 40 years, but he says that figure skating is one of the most high-injury sports. In the other sports, you can at least know which parts of the body are most vulnerable; and in fs almost anything can be injured. He also widely uses tapes to treat and to prevent injuries, to avoid muscular overstrain.

Thanks for this summary @borzaya! So interesting to hear more details about Tarasova/Morozov. Recently, it seems, people are criticizing T/M for lacking chemistry and charisma (which I don't fully agree with at all, but obviously many people do). So it's interesting that Kapranova feels Evgenia needs to further develop her emotional projection on ice. Better programs will certainly help with this, I'm sure. As well as just more experience.

Thank you! 19 pairs?! Wow, that's twice as much as what I thought. It was nice to hear more about Mozer's history and the other coaches.

Yeah, I don't agree with that critique either, so I was like =/ that even their choreographer is saying it.

I don't think T&M are lacking chemistry. They are lacking the confidence, like "I own this ice". The more success they have the more confident they will become. Charisma cannot be taught. Either one has it or one doesn't. However, projection and audience connection can develop, if the right efforts are made. I actually liked their LP last year. Not sure why it was universally criticized. There is a softness in them and it needs to be utilized, rather than discarded.

I am really looking at T&M as the 2022 OGM potential, rather than 2018. For 2018 I am rooting all the way for V&T, no matter who else is competing.

V&T will certainly retire after the 2018 Olympics. How I wish they had paired up after the 2006 Olympics! It was obvious in 2006 that Morozov was too weak a partner for someone as talented as Tatiana. Max was skating with Maria at the time but they could have easily split. The RSF didn't plan well for 2010 pairs at all.

Some of Max's sweet reminiscences about their programs in his IG
wink.gif
:

https://instagram.com/p/4w1fqLOVV4/
"There are magical moments in this or that performance – for example, when we were skating to Rakhmaninov, live performed by Katya Buniatishvili, my heart always missed a beat at the sight of this mist above the ice, as if we were characters of a fairy tale and there was no one else around… Only the music of fairytale beauty, and Tanya of fairytale beauty, and the magic of the ice…"

https://instagram.com/p/4zeeE8OVW9/
"One Man's Dream" by Yanni. The story of this program… Oberstdorf, Nebelhorn Trophy 2013. The very beginning of the season, we and our whole team were working like mad to prepare for the first competition, it was so important to win, to begin the season with the win. And here was the gold, a sigh of relief, the pleasant tiredness… And the question at the press conference about the gala program. And we had none! We had been too busy to do it. There was only the collection of music in my IPhone… And just in a morning we cooked up a program from what we had, and to get a feel of it was very easy – because she is my dream, my Tanya. "

https://instagram.com/p/44heR7uVft/
"Benedictus" by 2 CELLOS. When we got the music, for which we were to skate at the Art On Ice 2013, we had a mixed reaction to it. When I heard it, I exclaimed that it's only good for lulling the audience to sleep. Eventually, it was settled by chance. This music played as a background at the rink when we were preparing to the Euros and skating a part of our free program, and we unconsciously began to perform to this background music. When we finished, we skated up to our coach and saw that Nina Mikhailovna was watching as if spell-bound, and when asked what's up, she said that we didn't even need to stage this program! So, we not only saved time, but prepared this program for the World championship 2013, which we won and punctuated our "golden season" with it. And when skating this program to the live performance, we could feel for the first time the difference between the live music and the audio record, feeling how the audience held their breath, and we were also submerged into fascination trance by the cello virtuosos of 2 Cellos. Thank you so much borzaya! I've been trying to understand for weeks what he has been writing on his instagram (google translate has lost all my trust by now ), and now I can finally get it! It's great to have a glimpse of their thoughts about their programs, I personally love their Rach EX's so I this is amazing.

OTOH, it seems V/T will be part of Intimissimi On Ice shows this October, here's the link with the cast: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.852070591528433.1073741834.657336997668461&type=3

I wish they did 3T+3T (still hoping). Or 3F+2T! I don't really like the 3 jump combos in pairs because the do them with no speed and it looks out of place. But they still look great! The quality is still unmatched an they're not evendoing anything. Clean and crisp... Can't wait!

Some more interesting stories from Max's instagram:

https://instagram.com/p/5lHhvzOVTX/
"The Godfather" (love theme, Nino Rota) by Dem Brooklyn Bums.
"Simply put, to skate this program was a thrill for us. The blues version of a famous music by Nino Rota looked fresh, although this music is used rather often. To make this program look enthralling and hot we were helped by Lee Ann Miller, and American choreographer, who has the experience of working with many figure skating stars. And the serious work at Tanya's image in this program helped her to discover a new side of her – a femme fatale, sexy and alluring… Our "golden season" became such not least because of this program. And this dress is probably recognized by those who follow my Instagram. But the best reward for us was that when we cast a glance on the audience and the judges, we saw smiles on their faces! That meant that we had managed to touch their hearts, to relieve the audience from the tension of competition and to show them pair skating at the angle of man and woman's dance and interaction. And those sparks which flickered between us during our performances, they turned later into the flame of our love."

https://instagram.com/p/5hfLseuVZA/
"Nessun Dorma" Giacomo Puccini.
"That was the most unusual performing experience for us. Why? Because everything was live there. The live orchestra music, the live performance of opera singers - and the live ice! The Art on Ice had chosen for us an aria from "Turandot" for the Opera on Ice project in St. Moriz, Switzerland. And the whole event was staged on the ice of a frozen lake! What could be a better scenery than the live power of mountains! And just imagine the acoustics there. And though it was cold, we enjoyed every minute of this performance. "None shall sleep" sang Calaf the unknown prince, the live ice rustling under the canopy of snowy peaks…"

https://instagram.com/p/5X_qqiuVW6
"Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis.
"Art on Ice 2013 Helsinki. After the previous show in Davos we were asked by the organizers to change our routine for the TV LIVE show. Leona was not going to sing at our performance due to time restrictions of the Finnish TV company; we thought it over and agreed, as we were coming to Helsinki in the morning, we were promised extra time for preparing the routine, a sound check with Leona… But – there were problems with flight from Zurich, the flight was seriously delayed, then the luggage checking was delayed, too… So, when there was a little more than an hour to the show, we all were in the Helsinki airport waiting for our luggage. The organizers were panicking, the artists were perplexed, and Tanya and Maxim were trying the layout of the routine on the floor in the baggage claim area. Little by little the other guys began warming up, too, Stephane Lambiel spread a yoga mat and began to stretch, stage dancers were rehearsing their dances, singers were warming up, too… And the passengers of the other flights were staring with their mouths open. All in all, we were ready in time, we made a great show working as a single team, and in spite of being tired, the whole cast did their best! We also coped with this challenge and skated in a live show without having any rehearsals... Going through fire and ice? Well, something like that… But everything is possible when we go hand in hand!"

I didn't see this interview posted here, but there are so many V/T threads now it's hard to keep up.

http://www.sport-express.ru/figure-skating/reviews/906502/

They talk about the garbage people say on skating forums. :D They don't read them, but interviewers are always referring to things from forums, so they hear about it that way. And Max says something like, if he had known they were going to miss all of last season, they might already be parents. Though I may misunderstand Google Translate...

(they don't actually use the word garbage, but I will...and that's the polite term)

I heard there is a russian journalist who trashes them on FSO. Max might know about him.

Thanks @borzaya for all the pictures/videos! The news reports are interesting to watch even if you don't understand Russian . . .

Totally random thoughts: 1) A lot of pairs have been struggling with the BODS at North American club events this summer. At least we know Tatiana/Max won't have any problems there; their BODS, as shown here, is perfection; 2) Ksenia is looking as hot as ever, despite her hair; 3) Zabijako is quite a lovely girl, I guess she must be recovered now from her heel injury?, will be interesting to see how she/Enbert look this season; 4) Evgenia has such a sweet, shy demeanor and looks very approachable; and 5) Nina Mikhailovna looks younger & more attractive in these videos than at competitions! :) She should rethink those huge robe/coat things she wears to events, I think they make her look older/larger than she is.

I just realized they're having their wedding on a Tuesday? Is that odd?

They chose Tuesday because it was easier for some of their friends to attend then (like Stephane, of course ;)). And also easier for them to book things on relatively short notice, I think.

The translation of this article - http://www.sport-express.ru/figure-skating/reviews/906502/

- Maxim, about a month ago you began to post photos of your performances in your IG, and the stories of creating these programs. How did this idea occur to you?

MT: - We had the fifth anniversary of skating together, and had to mark this occasion somehow… So, I thought out such a project, and called it “Five”. I decided to recollect all our programs in these five years and to tell some interesting stuff about them. People haven’t seen our performances for a year and a half, only some videos from the ice shows…

- Telling about which program did you enjoy most of all?

MT: - To be honest, I didn’t watch them all entirely. I only posted the photos. I remember them all very well, and took them in random order, didn’t even follow the chronology.

TV: - Each program was dear to us in its own way. But the one which we both liked very much was the “Black Swan”.

MT: - In general, I liked all of them, too, except for “Violin Muse” in 2013. The audience and the fans like it, but it was the most difficult for me. I didn’t like the costume, didn’t like performing it, and that season in general was very hard…

- So, that project wasn’t nostalgia?

MT: - Not in the slightest!

- And do you miss competing again?

MT: - Somewhat, yes.

TV: - Of course, we miss these emotions! That’s adrenalin which we lack now…

- How was the year without competitions?

MT: - It was complicated. The injury, the surgery… I’d even say that the year without competitions was bad. We had planned and wanted to skate, to compete… Unfortunately, Russia didn’t win any medal at the Worlds in pair skating. Somehow we feel responsible for that as well…

TV: - In terms of health the year was not easy, but it was good in terms of personal life. There was the proposal, the engagement. So, now we are preparing for a happier event than the year that has passed.

- It must be hard to concentrate on trainings, when you are having wedding in less than a week?

TV: - Well, this week yes, it’s not easy.

MT: - We have to combine business with pleasure now. Nina Mikhailovna makes concessions for us, adjusts the timing of the trainings.

- Why did you plan the ceremony for August, 18?

MT: - It turned out so, that most of the guests could come on that date. Besides, it’s a weekday, so it’s easier to organize everything, as most people prefer to have weddings on weekends.

- And when did you make an application to the marriage registry office?

MT: - Only this Tuesday!

TV: - We are going to have an outdoors wedding.

MT: - So, it didn’t matter, when to submit an application. We could do it even on 18th.

- They say, that all girls feel nervous before the wedding. What about you?

TV: - Well, of course! It’s something new for me. All this is exciting and busy – the organizing, the dress… Of course, I wish that everything went smoothly, that all the guests were able to come.

- And the next day, on 19th, you’ll be on the ice again?

MT: - Yes. If we manage to.

TV: - We’re planning so for now, but we’ll have a busy day on 18th, from 7 am and till the late night, so it’s more likely that we’ll go to the ice on Thursday.

- Was it hard to go back to trainings after the pause?

MT: - Yes, it was very hard, physically, and emotionally… During a year and a half of not working the body becomes weaker, the motivation subsides, and morally you fall out of a habit for hard work and for day regimen. But it’s an extra motivation for us, to overcome this. If I had known what I’d have to go through, I don’t know if I could do it. Zhenya Plushenko returns for I don’t know which time, and I can’t even imagine what a will of iron he must have, to motivate himself to begin trainings from scratch each time.

TV: - It’s always easier to back off than to go ahead.

- So, you main motivation for now is to return to your previous level?

MT: - Not even to the previous level, but most important is to return to the ice at all. When we skate at the first competitions of the season, I think we’ll feel more composed. We know that we’re not liked too much at the forums. People write that Trankov and Volosozhar are like the previous champions…

TV: - That they only promise to come back, but don’t appear on the ice…

MT: - That they only receive a salary, fob off with promises and don’t want to return for real…

- It seemed to me, that it is said only about Plushenko…

MT: - It’s said about any champions!

- So you really read the forums?

MT: - Of course, we don’t. But we give quite a number of interviews. And the journalists, when they get ready for an interview, they read not only articles, but forums as well. So they keep beginning their questions like: “And it is said at the forums that…”

TV: - That’s why we know what is written there.

MT: - But as for me, I don’t even know were to find them, what their address is, I have no idea about this stuff.

- So, it never occurred to you to finish?

MT: - Well, there were such thoughts, of course… Even now, when some training goes badly, a thought like this can flash through the mind occasionally…

- But it’s not serious, is it? Just a weak moment?

MT: - Well, in fact, we were ready that if I’m unable to do lifting elements, we’ll have to finish. We decided like this – if I can do a twist, then we’ll continue, if not – ok, so be it.

- And then you can have children.

TV: - Yes, for example.

MT: - It’s a pity that we didn’t use an opportunity when we were in abeyance because of my injury. If we had known that we’d have to miss a whole season, maybe we might be parents already.

TV: - But now we have to postpone it a bit.

- But you want to be a mother?

TV: - Yes, but let us have a wedding at first.

MT: - So that the kid is legitimate! (laughs)

- On May, 15, you had the fifth anniversary as a skating pair. And when do you have your personal anniversary, so to say?

TV: - It’s about the beginning of July… We didn’t note the precise date (laughs).

MT: - We don’t know for certain, really. We were spending so much time together, that it’s hard to say when we became a real couple.

TV: - I think we had become soul mates even before that…

MT: - I can’t say for certain, which month. I just remember that it was summer.

- For a long time you didn’t want to say that you’re together. Why?

TV: - Still the personal stuff remains personal… At least one secret we could have? When you tell absolutely everything about yourself, it’s too much. Though we well-known people, but still…

MT: - When we were engaged, we announced about it at once! There was even a photoshoot at a magazine… But when everything was unofficial, we didn’t want to talk too much about it.

I love them. I have missed them.

Max shouldn't feel responsible for Russia not winning a medal at worlds. He was injured. Their back ups didn't get it done.
