So sorry for Alexei K for missing his shot at the title but I read that he is fine now, so hopefully he will move on to seniors next year and kick some butt!

Message tweeted by Alex Krasnozhon just now: https://twitter.com/akrasnozhon/status/972829733695180800
I just want to say thank you to everyone for great support! Injuries are part of the sport, and what happened to me will only make me stronger! I’ll keep everyone posted once I get back in the States!
ETA:
I hope we get a proper update on Alexei soon, and not just "he's back in his hotel room resting and is feeling better". Though I suppose at least that means he likely didn't break it, which was what I feared when I first saw the footage. :(
I think it should be up to Alex or his team (Darlene Cain coached him in Sofia) to reveal any specifics about his injury. I can confirm that nothing is broken (thankfully) but it's not my place to say anything more in a public forum.

Darlene just posted photos of her and Alexi out and about in Sofia. There was no comment but the sun is shining and Alexi is smiling, but on crutches.

Yesterday she mentioned coming back for the freeskate medal next year.

So, I guess they would want to keep him a Junior next year??

From the 2017/18 ISU Grand Prix Announcement: "Medallists from the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2017 and the gold medallists from the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2016/17 will be included in the selection process."

Since Krasnozhon won the JGPF gold medal, he is eligible to be selected for a Grand Prix in the upcoming season. He won a silver medal in his ISU Challenger Series debut at Tallinn Trophy this past November.

So JW medalists and JGPF winners are guaranteed a GP? I thought they did away with that rule (ooops), or is it only singles skaters? In the dance threads, we've been discussing how difficult it will be for the top Junior teams to get a GP due to SB scores. If the JW medalists will get one, that is good news.

Glad to hear that Alexei didn't break anything and I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Well, "eligible to be selected" isn't the same thing as guaranteed. Alexandrovskaya/Windsor did not receive any Senior GP invites after winning Junior Worlds. :(

It likely just means that his name can be added to the selection pool.

Ah, OK, thanks. That's right, I had forgotten about A/W last year. I hope Alexei can get a Senior GP, if he wants one.

Kraznozhon is ranked 30th on the SB list. With a minimum of Balde, Chan, Fernandez, Rippon, & Ge probably done. And that not including the likes of Brezina, Reynolds, Bychenko, and about three more.

All that with far more openings available in the the men's field than dance. (And a higher injury rate). Kraznozhon shouldn't have a problem getting a GP invitation.

Alexei was only ranked 10th at U.S. Nationals. But only five U.S. guys are ahead of him on the SB list, one of which is Adam, and Max is pretty likely to move on as well (though he may stay as long as he would like in my book).

Alexei could easily skate a senior season and return to Junior Worlds at the end. He's won everything there is to win on the JGP. But there's no banking on a senior world berth. He could be in the mix, but a return trip to Junior Worlds is a very control-his-own-destiny kind of goal.

That would a lot of make sense. Because he could just skate senior at Nationals and plan to go to JW, and then if he by chance got a Worlds spot, they could just send other guys to JW.

His mom’s Facebook post says that Camden’s gala Skate was choreographed by Doug Razzano.
Thanks for the info. :) Glad to hear of Razzano's involvement (he also was at Junior Worlds in Sofia, coaching TPE's Micah Tang). I've since been informed that Camden collaborated with Douglas on his exhibition program.

Well, the last competition of my season ended, maybe not exactly the way I wanted, but it is what it is! I had an amazing season and I am very happy and proud with what I have accomplished? As far as my injury, it could of been worse. I have Grade 2 Sprain, and I’ll be back on ice within 4-6 weeks, after that time I’ll be able to fully train?? I can’t wait to get back! I would like to thank all the Junior world team, for helping me and supporting me, as well as Doctors for taking care of me, PT, and amazing team leaders. And thank you to all my fans??

Vincent Zhou article before Worlds: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2018/03/19/269122830
On his 3 coaches:
It takes a coaching village to put Zhou's programs into practice. The skater has trained with Gambill since he was 8, and he has also worked with Zakrajsek in Colorado Springs for several seasons. Krall, who coaches at the Broadmoor World Arena along with Zakrajsek, was added to the team mid-season.
"Tom is an incredible technician, and he is really great at training my programs," Zhou said. "I would say Christy also works with me on the program, and choreography and spins, too. She has stroking exercises of her own. She basically does everything with me, and she's been instrumental since I took her on as part of my team.
"Tammy has been coming (to Colorado Springs) on some weekends and seeing my simulations and doing some work on everything, and of course she comes with me to competitions.
"Everyone plays their part."

From Jackie Wong's tweets, it didn't sound like the US men had been practising well. Here's hoping they could turn it around when it mattered!

Yeah, this tweet (https://twitter.com/rockerskating/status/976010285109530624) made me worry for ALL the quadsters, but especially for Vincent & Nathan who are doing all those 4Lz/4F/4Ts in the corner:
I've been reflecting on the practices down at the practice rink yesterday - there seems to be a common thread with skaters having a tough time getting spring tapping at the edges of the rink ... the ice looks a bit shallow

I hope the main rink ice is springier but: https://twitter.com/polymnia_skate/status/976013030298456064
Yesterday morning on the main rink it seemed to be the same issue for the guys.....

Oh, and also there's random confetti falling from the ceiling onto ice? Great!

Let's hope for the best (but mentally prepare for some splat'n'popping) :yikes:

I'm quite ready. It's happened before that Max has had bad practices and then turned it on on competition ice. Skate America 2015 springs to mind.

Re-posting this pre-Worlds article from Nathan's fan thread:
New article with quotes heading into worlds: 4Lz and 4F planned in the SP and 5 quads planned for the FS. I am happy he plans to stay with Raf next year and I like seeing the last quote the best “but I still have a lot of worlds ahead of me.”

http://olympics.nbcsports.com/2018/03/20/nathan-chen-figure-skating-world-championships/
Nathan's SP jump landings weren't the best today but he held on to 4Lz+3T, 4F & 3A - 101.94 - currently in 1st.

In the most recent episode of IceNetwork's "Ice Talk" podcast (#67), Ben Agosto mentioned that Max recently had started a job in his home state of Arizona before he got the call to go to Worlds. It currently looks like he will finish 15th (79.78) in the SP.

ETA:

1 Q Nathan CHEN USA 101.94 57.51 44.43 8.82 8.75 8.93 8.89 9.04 0.00 #34
3 Q Vincent ZHOU USA 96.78 57.78 39.00 7.82 7.61 7.89 7.86 7.82 0.00 #27
15 Q Max AARON USA 79.78 40.99 38.79 7.86 7.50 7.79 7.75 7.89 0.00 #28

It's hard to believe seeing this happen again and again; reputation and ranking still helps or hurts with scores! Max's program was fairly clean (hand down after the quad), but still wound up well behind other skaters with poor GOE or jumping passes not as difficult! Dimitri Aliev tripled his 4T and still wound up over 80 points while getting nothing for it since it was a repeat from successfully execution in his 4Lutz combo! Uno with terrible errors still in 5th! :plush: :yikes:

I need to find the correct thread to post what I want to say but I'm SO HAPPY there is a WORLDS in the Oly Year.. I mean CRAP, now we get to see DONOVAN of Mexico in the free skate and Harris of Great Britain?? BRING it on.. Say what you want but Worlds in an Oly Year I have ALWAYS LOVED!!!!

Holler!

Side notes:

Nathan: get that WORLD TITLE
Vincent: This is how I thought you would be skating all year when I was thinking about it back in September.
Max: Just what I thought. No-one can change my mind on him.

I have to say I'm so proud of Vincent. From a respectable but not earth-shattering GP season and a tech panel at Nationals that did NOT want him on the Olympic or World team to a great Olympic showing (with appropriate PCS) and third at the Worlds SP. I hope he can carry it over in the LP but no matter what, he made himself a contender this season and made the very difficult first-year transition from juniors to seniors a successful one...and during an Olympic year where it's the most difficult because people are mostly like "we're full, come back later."

OT, I LOVED Donovan Carillo of Mexico! What a performer! He was charming, and if he somehow ups the ante in his jump arsenal he could climb up in the standings quite a bit! I thought he could have scored higher imo in performance quality, expression, choreo and so on.
Back OT, I'm very very proud of our U.S men! :respec::cheer2::cheer:

Nathan scored very well (for him) in spite of a couple of forward landings on his quads :yikes:but he rotated them, landing them on one foot and he did quite well on his nemesis (no pun intended) jump, the 3A! I thought his PCS could have been a little higher but he's in first so I'll take it. Vincent was a total WOW at his first Worlds SP! He's going to be duking it out with Nathan for top U.S. guy in years to come! I was upset with Max's score - I thought it could have been a bit higher, especially considering the mistakes of some of the top guys who weren't hit as hard (kind of like in the ladies event). Still the FS to come, but overall the future looks bright for the U.S. men in this new quad leading up to the 2022 Olympics!
