I'm glad I wasn't the only one who side-eyed that remark. I mean, if he'd picked something a little less overused and said no-one skated to it, he might have got away with it, but claiming no-one has skated to Come What May?

Let's be candid here. He's 27, nearly 28. This is his last shot at the Olympics. He's a former National, Four Continents, and World Junior Champion who's never been higher than sixth at Worlds, and if Chen and Zhao deliver anywhere near their best at Nationals, there's only one more spot on the Olympic Team. Ditto for the World Team. It's better to go for it than to hope for a consolation prize

I see your point. But, I think if Adam were to successfully land a 4T or two, he would still be competitive for a spot. However, it is moot because it sounds like the 4Z is being practiced due to problems w/ his picking foot.

Krasnozhon caps week with JGP Australia title

http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2017/08/25/250513648

Krasnozhon's free skate was nearly seven points better than that of Russia's Egor Rukhin, enabling the 17-year-old to capture the first title of the season with a two-day total of 209.37 points.

The reigning U.S. junior champion picked up 134.33 points for his Gladiator free skate, lifting him to the top of a JGP podium for the second time in his career (JGP Slovenia).

USFS updated their international assignments page and Nicholas Hsieh is listed for the Minsk JGP. Eric Sjoberg was the initial placeholder in the ISU entries.

I tried to look up who he was. Intermediate last year? Has he done anything special this offseason to warrant a jgp?

Yes - posted earlier this month (August 19):
3 men were added recently to USFS' International Selection Pool:
Goku Endo (Int6 at 2017 Nationals)
Nicholas Hsieh (Int2)
JoonSoo Kim (N4)

Endo and Hsieh have the top 2 scores (160+) this summer at the Novice level; Kim currently has the 5th highest score in Junior: https://unseenskaters.wordpress.com/top-ten/
Coach Viktor Pfeifer with Nicholas Hsieh after he won the Novice Men's event at the Philadephia Summer Championships: https://twitter.com/ViktorPfeifer/status/894948253774598149
ETA clip of Hsieh's 3Lz back in June: https://www.instagram.com/p/BUzObcBhjjR/?hl=en&taken-by=vikpfeifer

Two more junior men's additions to the ISP recently: Sasha Lunin (J5 at 2017 Nationals) and Dinh Tran (N3).

Camden Pulkinen is in 1st place (66.34) and Ryan Dunk 5th (60.85) after the SP at the JGP in Salzburg, Austria. Pulkinen landed a big 3A, 3F+3T(fall) & 3Lz; Dunk landed 2A, 3Lo+3Lo< & 3Lz(-).

I'm happy for Camden Pulkinen and both his programs are good but ...

How do you end up being over time limits in both programs? I suspect it is caused by not having done enough run-throughs in training. In the short he was waaaaayyyy over. Nowadays this is very unusual.

Yeah, and he skated pretty fast....his speed and flow have improved a great deal from last season. Maybe his programs are too packed? More run-throughs should help.

Congratulations to Camden on his first JGP medal - GOLD - in Salzburg!

U.S. men's results:
1 Camden PULKINEN USA 203.80 1 1 - his post-FS interview with Ted Barton in which he mentions he plans to work on improving his spins: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXdQI5woo1k
SP (66.34): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nmx39W71tIw
FS (137.46): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJXxsFA5mTE
Drew Meekins choreographed his "Fix You" SP and Tom Dickson his Chopin FS.
Pulkinen's previous ISU personal bests were 171.69 (total), 60.44 (SP), 111.25 (FS) in his JGP debut last year in Tallinn.

9 Ryan DUNK USA 170.71 5 12 - respectable showing in his Team USA debut; his 5th place self-choreographed SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pu4EbzBosz0

The issue in the short might have been caused by the messed up spin right at the end. He missed the hook on the camel and the first part was very slow.

I like his jumps - 3axel and 3lutz looked so easy, with fab speed on the landing! But yes, remedial camel spin school and work on leg extension overall.

I'm just happy that another USA man got the gold.. and one who I haven't even heard of :)

Oh, dear I just went to go watch the videos. Because the Shibs found a song that distinguished them I hope this won't bcomee a bonafide warhorse come 2019.

Im halfway through the SP. His skating and movement already remind me of Patrick Chan.

What a great jumper, and artistic too. When will he reach seniors?

I feel like he could do a 4axel!

Don't say that! I was so amazed to see that he was with Tom after the short because the program was so well performed and didn't feel empty at all. May it stay that way, please.

Beautiful short and nice free. Camden has come a long way in a year and a half.

I mean the program is lovely and all but I am the only one a little weirded out by the fact that a 16-year-old is skating to a program from the perspective of a guy falling in love with a courtesan?
I would assume there have been other skaters of a similar age who have skated to Moulin Rouge, but that doesn't make it any less weird.

I posted the link to Sarah Brannen's latest article on Vincent Zhou's FS switch to music from Moulin Rouge last week in the Programs/Choreographers thread: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2017/08/30/251420134

3 U.S. men are listed for Finlandia Trophy (Oct. 6-8 in Espoo):
Ross MINER
Adam RIPPON
Vincent ZHOU

USFS will make it official when the names are published on the International Assignments page of their website.

The 3 subs are Aaron, Brown and Dolensky.

Vincent Zhou skated show version of his new FS, Moulin Rougue, at the Golden Moment show in San Jose on September 3.

Beautiful spread eagle!

His spread eagle is really lovely! Very nice moments in the program and I see improvement, but he seems to still need to improve his depth of edge and line a bit. He has nice sincerity in his expression which I enjoy.

Adam will be SINGING?

Does anyone know if he's any good at singing?

This will either be epic or a trainwreck of epic proportions:scream:

I have no idea if he can sing. The fact that he is working with a "producer" leads me to believe the track will be Autotuned within an inch of its life....

All those stories are so creppy . Honestly it is even more awkward the idea of a 16 yo committing suicide (R&J) than a 16 yo falling in love with a courtesan.
I believe in the original Shakespearean tragedy Romeo was about 16 and Juliet 13. They did things a lot younger in those days.
