Yes, because all of us are qualified judges. And none of us, of course have any bias . I mean none of us either want him to do well or want him to do badly so our favorite can go. And since we’re unbiased we are the best judges ever. 😂
Honestly, there’s no reason for it to be done publicly except for that.
Or people just like transparency, IDK.

I want him back healthy too but I am worried about what Lucas Broussard's omission from the recently announced USFS Team Funding Envelopes could mean.
What are you talking about? The Team Funding Envelopes page still lists the current season envelopes. The 2025-26 criteria has been added, but it's the same as last year and Lucas should be on Team C when the envelope funding is approved at Governing Council (he didn't qualify for 2024-25 Team funding).

I don't think Levito flew halfway across the world for her monitoring. She flew halfway across the world to be a part of NBC's 1-yr to Milano-Cortina countdown celebrations on The Today Show. And her mom is from Milano, so it was an opportunity to see family. That Road to 26 Trophy was that same week was a nice coincidence. I suspect that she would have competed in that event in lieu of 4CCs even had she been at Nats.

Yes, she said in one of the interviews that she was obligated to be in Milan for the Olympics promotion and then USFS asked her to do the competition. I'm not sure "ask" is the right word. They even told her which combination to do in the short program. I'm sure it wasn't fun for her, but it might have been a good thing for her to experience competition again and to do it in that arena, even if she hadn't done very many run-throughs since returning from injury.

And thus the story of Jason Brown’s skating boots, which were supposed to last one season but miraculously made it through three until their “oil” ran out.

It is a story that Brown previously had declined to tell because he is loath to make excuses.
So there you go, @Karen-W. He wasn't lying. He wasn't making excuses. His boots were broken down. "Equipment issues" wasn't some kind of conspiracy cover-up.

Brown had tried over and over to break in new boots. But when he could not get comfortable with a new pair before an important competition, he had gone back to the boots he first used for the 2022 season.

This season, when he put more stress on his body by returning to a regular training and competition schedule that included much more work on specific program elements, the new boots he was trying began to give him hip pain. And no amount of duct tape or extra interior padding or new tongues were going to make them useable again.

Two days before the Jan. 20 announcement of his withdrawal from nationals, Brown realized there would be no more miracles.
He was hurting himself trying to make himself ready for Nationals. There's a few people in this thread who owe him an apology.

Lmao. You know, I was going to refrain from pointing out the obvious timeline inconsistencies in this story, but since you called me out...

Why is it that he only got new boots from an entirely different boot manufacturer on Feb 3rd? That is TWO WEEKS after he withdrew from Nats on Jan 20th.

And before you spout some bullshit story about custom boots needing time to be ordered & delivered, etc, one would have thought, if he'd been struggling all fall with breaking in new boots that perhaps trying an entirely different manufacturer should have been an avenue explored, I dunno... in December or early January????

Stop trying to make him into some SAINT who was sacrificing his body for the sake of competing at Nats. Furthermore, knowing he was struggling with these boots issues that were leading to physical issues during the fall (per Jason in the article), it was awfully damn selfish of him to remain entered in both of his GP events. I can maybe understand still competing at SCI, though Shanghai Trophy wasn't exactly an encouraging event for him either, but it was ludicrous that he held onto his NHK assignment. It's not lost on me that he was more than willing to forego Golden Spin - you know, the one competition where there wasn't prize/appearance money up for grabs.

This thread makes Brown more interesting than he actually is tbh, it's a gift.

I too love my gay, moustache twirling villain who smiles cutely at everything and skates programs the equivalent of Hallmark Christmas movies, who is either the modern Machiavelli or Gandhi reborn.

The article made me even more skeptical of Jason and especially his coaching team. From the article, they all had planned for him to compete in more competitions during the 2024-2025 season, so why didn't they ensure that he broke in another pair of boots during the prior 2 years??

Yup. That's another point I caught as well. The whole article blows so many holes in the carefully constructed, PR narrative of "boot issues" being the sole reason he withdrew from Nats, etc.

Alt ought it seems odd that a top level skater would wait so long to get new boots from a different comoany when the other boots obviously were not working. Or maybe boots are the last thing a skater blames?

Also, don't our bodies change over time ? Any kind of a change in a foot, ankle, etc could affect jumping?

Please note the question marks -I'm asking questions, not speculating.

According to the article, he repeatedly tried to break in new boots without success and so he would go back to his old boots. You can debate whether he should have switched to a totally different manufacturer sooner, but I think that is easier said than done for many skaters.

Indeed, it is possible that contracts and sponsorships were part of the struggle.

So a quadless "old" Jason with a triple double combo, still scored almost 85, just behind Torgashev and will make the freeskate..
LMAO. With a q on his 3A and a 3z+2t... But, sure, the new boots from a different manufacturer magically cured the problems he was having in the fall. That door is wide open for any number of men to walk through it and nab an Olympic spot with decent fall results & a good Nats.

Well, yeah. That's the opportunity they had this year, too. Jason was sent to help keep the 3rd spot.

@eurodance2001 But who else would we have sent?

Jacob has been doing really well, but has been a bit inconsistent this spring. He'd also face the PCS hit most skaters get moving up to major senior competitions. Maxim maybe - but I doubt he'd even be on the table when it was Jason vs someone else. Jimmy, Tomoki, and Camden have all been very inconsistent. While Jimmy may have done well at Nationals and 4CC, I don't think he's quite earned the spot consistency-wise over his career.

Let's be honest here - 84 and change with a shaky 3A and no 3-3 or quad is INSANE. It goes to show how good Jason is at everything else. If there's no major errors he'll almost certainly get that 3rd spot. Can't say the same for the other men in contention for that spot.

I’m glad he was named and did as well as he did. I commented because certain posters in this thread were throwing their shade at him and making all sorts of claims about him..
Yo... You wanna call someone out, at least have the decency @misskarne did and call me out by name.

As far as today... I already made my observations & I stand by them. Nothing about today's skate makes me believe all is suddenly well & back to normal for Jason, nor do I believe that he's got an Olympic spot on lock.

Yes, you've made it abundantly clear you despise Jason and clearly you're disappointed that he scored as high as he did. You were evidently hoping he would blow the 3A altogether and barely scrape the free, or better yet, fail to make the free.

I can only speculate as to why this loathing for a skater who wouldn't hurt a fly is so intense.
