1. Izzie sucked.
2. George sucked.
3. April sucked.
4. I loved Meredith/Christina/Alex. IDGAF about the others apart from Bailey.
5. It should have ended after season 8.
I spent much of my life watching so many police procedurals: There was a crime, there were good detectives, clues help unmask the guilty, there was a positive outcome. I liked some of them and still watch procedurals.
Which brings me here to say why I adore “The Wire”: Life is complicated, police work is often compromised by good AND bad people in difficult, crazy situations. And the criminals are sometimes decent people who misstep. It was a fascinating show written by novelists and authors who truly knew their subject matter. No Hollywood writers hired for “a treatment.” I want more show like this.

I watched The Wire a year or two ago, when I first realized AT&T subscribers had free Max subscriptions. It was so fantastic. It was always on my to be watched lists and I really was blown away. It was also ahead of its time in the way that a big storyline played out over the whole season rather than the same one-episode and everything is solved formula. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the first to do so.
Streaming obviously pushed a lot of shows to do the same, and Criminal Minds even came back with season-long storylines that have given it yet another resurgence.

That is good to know about CM. I loved the idea that some cops who were on the outs with their supervision were thrown onto this project and to everyone’s surprise (including their own) make headway and start rattling cages. Also this was my first time seeing Idris Elba. And Omar—love him.
