Trophy Metropole Nice 2024 - Ice Dance RD & FD

Say what you will about Bash/Beau's program, it has some cool moves. And I love those colors on Nadiia.

Bashynska/B

Nice twizzles, a little out of sync on last one, good one foot steps with nice extension, very long series of sliding moves, oh and big double fall on an unaesthetic looking choreo lift at end

They are having such a tough time taking advantages of their opportunities these past two years :(

Did Peter's luggage get lost? Looks like he was wearing the same thing for both programmes (plus a natty necktie in the RD).

Oh crap, ending on a lift splat. It's really not their year.

Oh boy... I hope Skate Canada sends them out more. These last two seasons have been really tough on Babeau.

Bekker/H

Good stationary lift to rotational lift, close spacing on twizzles, cool straight line lift (mini-grace tells me “I thought you did not like the viral trick clips”. Touché, I just like blade work more). A little rough getting up from first choreo slide. Good skate

Allison Reed is in a tutu and a one-shoulder leotard, which is an interesting combination.

but they also really need to leave Carol Lane.
But where would they go? Peter isn't a citizen yet, so they need to stay in Canada. They would get lost in the mid pack shuffle at IAM (if IAM would take them) and Wing & Lowe are bad at packaging juniors, much less a senior team with talent.

The (nearly) entire first minute of LaGougeCaffa's FD being a voiceover (Interview With a Vampire tv show??) is really something. I am intrigued. :watch:

Lagouge/C

She has a graceful way of moving and changing positions in lifts, more realized expression than Brits, but B/H looked technically stronger, of course, we are in France

Orihara/P

Decent speed, but they seem to be skimming across the top and not really digging into the ice and edges, better in one foot steps, fun performance

Watching with half an eye because of Skate America, but it looked like they botched a lift?

They really found a version of "Dance Me Til the End of Love" that really sounded like the end, as in terminally sad.

Well, from what I saw of GreenP, I already like this FD way more than ZingKol, so I'm hoping they can reassert their USA Top 3 position by Nats.

Green/P

Showing good control and unison, not a lot of speed, good curve lift, big pause before starting choreo steps—audience fakeout that it’s over, steps were artsy, but not difficult, I wonder if we’ll ever see them push the difficulty (except in their lifts). Technically, they’ve fallen way behind C/P and B/S.

Good Lord... why did she take Diana's dress from last season and re-work it?

It took forever for Wing/Lowe to stop choreographing Orford/Williams' programs, and by then it was too late.

Their coaches could get them different choreographers. There is no dearth of them.

Getting into that ending pose was clunky, as were several other spots in the program. I'm usually indifferent to them, but I think they're getting beat at NHK by CarPon.
