Great, it was getting old anyway and it was too small;
No, he had no right to do this unilaterally;
Who cares;
He should be punished in some way for destroying a piece of US heritage without any consultation or approvals;
No, cost for the ballroom is way too high given the high cost of living for most Americans; i.e., this should not be his priority.

MEH, I’m overall fine with it. I’ve heard from all kinds of people that a lot of the White House is currently small and cramped and it’s cumbersome, especially with security, to have any kind of social or formal event.
