Senator McCain has introduced legislation repealing the Jones Act. McCain has long advocated the repeal of the Jones Act because he believes that free trade helps lower consumer prices and overall creates job growth.

Short version - the Jones Act (1920) requires all ships that enter/exit U.S. ports to be owned and operated by Americans.

McCain is now pushing for Jones Act repeal or at least a DHS wavier for Hurricane Maria.

1. Should the Jones Act be repealed?
YES - Free trade is awesome sauce! Plus, it would help get more and cheaper goods in times of disasters (Puerto Rico & Maria).
NO - Protect American merchant jobs! Plus, there are security concerns.
2. Will this cause a fight between Trump & McCain?
