This or That - Round 42

AGREE - If the police officer stated he approved of it beforehand. I believe that people should have full consent over what happens to their eggs/sperm. A spouse have shouldn't have automatic rights to them.

I hope this opinion doesn't make me a radical.......

Today, it was announced that Jeff Bezos has surpassed Bill Gates as the world's richest man. How did he really do it?

Bezos improving as a business man
or
Bill Gates' moving on on focusing on philantrophy
or
Something to do with Bezos' transformation

NAY - I'm dizzy from figuring out whatever is going on with AG Jeff Sessions/WH COS Reince Priebus/whatever Anthony Scaramucci's job is.

Sigh.

In light of the the dysfunction in the Senate, should the 17th Amendment be repealed? Mike Huckabee thinks so. Huckabee tweet Part 2.

Yes - States' rights!!!!!!!
or
No - Before the 17th Amendment, some state legislators were being bribed in order to vote for the Senators. Plus, deadlocks in some state legislatures were preventing states from sending Senators. A tie is a lot harder in popular vote elections.

YAY

Under Armour just signed 15-year old French track star Heather Arneton to a pro contract. Good Idea?

Yes - Take the $$$$ while you can.

or
No - 15 is too young. Professional sports are a completely different animal than youth or even college sports.
or
No - It would have made more sense if she was world class right now (She's at 6.57m - the world championship standard is 6.75. The top women in the world jump around 7.00m). Why not wait and potentially get more money?

Too early to say.

As for Valeri Liukin - Yes. The American gymnastics system would be nothing had it not had the foreign coaches and personnel to literally buy its success. I always viewed Nastia Liukin as essentially a Russian World and Olympic champion, just as Martina Navratilova was a Czech tennis player. The rules relating to flags of convenience were always too lax. Granted, America also benefitted from the fact that young people within Eastern European countries have virtually abandoned gymnastics and targeted richer sports such as tennis, etc. For example, if Romania were to suddenly repair its collapsed infrastructure, it would still take it decades to reestablish itself as there is no talent pool to draw from. Hence, for the next 20 years, America could get away with putting a garden gnome in charge, because it would still win as there is no longer any actual competition.

Quote from Richard Dawkins: "The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” If God exists and has the personality depicted in the Old Testament, should the human race still worship God - Yes or No?
