"The Walking Dead": Any fans here?

There are plenty of other characters to kill off. Abraham, Eugene, Tara, and Sasha can all go. I'm sure there would be plenty of :cheer2:if Father Gabriel made him final exit.

I would love it if Sasha and Gabriel hooked up. Not this crazy a show is it, TWD? I mean, she was pointing the rifle in his face in this last episode and like people always say, there is a thin line between love and hate. :P

Honestly though, I would not be too upset (or at all) if anyone from Team Abraham died. There are too many people in the show and many of them don't get much exposure or story. Preferably Rosita remains just so there's someone :swoon: to look at if Maggie goes pregnant next season. :EVILLE:

I want to see more of Michonne next season, and of course, our kickass casserole lady Carol.

I'm slowly catching up on this thread as I watch the last half of season five which I downloaded a while back. Watched two episodes yesterday and two today. I'm enjoying reading your posts as I watch each episode. Am glad this group has now gotten a good night's sleep! :D

I have a question about something I noticed with the last half of season five. When they went to the warehouse to get batteries to power Alexandria, they saw a bunch of zombies behind a fence. Later, when Daryl and Aaron were out scouting, they came across a building where again, a bunch of zombies were behind a fence. In both situations, each team could have knifed pretty much all of these zombies in the head through the safety of the fence...eliminating any potential danger. In both situations, they just carried on with their task (which had no time limitations that would have kept them eliminating these threats). This has happened in previous seasons. Is there any reason to ignore these zombies, or is it just lazy writing to set up a scary attack soon after...and a chance to whittle down the cast list?

My impression is that they often leave zombies who are not an immediate threat alone, because there is just so many of them.

But, there are all sorts of glitches and inconsistencies in this series. Three that stood out prominently for me were:

1) When Hershel's farm is overrun and the group escapes, part of a night scene was shot in daylight.
2) Father Gabriel's flock was somehow kept out of his church when the zombie outbreak began, even though the church was a wood and all it would have taken to break in would have been a few axes. Instead, people died and left scratch marks on the outside of the church.
3) The ongoing preference for guns as weapons, when other weapons (i.e. swords and spears) could be easily constructed, don't require runs for bullets, and are quieter, hence more effective. And the amount of ammo those guns hold is sometimes entirely unrealistic.

It's a credit to the writers and producers of the show that we continue watching despite all such issues.

This looks so good! Better than The Walking Dead actually. More on that in a bit. One reason why "Fear The..." looks so good to me is that often movies focus (rightly so) on a big event, but I often wonder, "what led up to that?" or "what happened after everybody survived an attack/catastrophe...how did they cope and get back to reality"? With Fear The Walking Dead, it looks like we're going to see the whole story of what happened before...and boy, does it look well made! :respec:

Yikes. It looks like somebody needs to check Rick into a (very) extended stay at Sunnybrook Home For The Ravaged. Watching this trailer I thought, "I wonder if these people all found each other because in their previous lives they were their resident group's drama queen". They just find the worst possible situation wherever they go and continually do enough stupid things to get themselves into problems over and over again. They're like that friend who keeps choosing the worst possible males as their mate. "Why do I always end up with guys like this??" Umm...because you seek them out and then handpick them as the next one!!

Another thought I had about this trailer was wondering if nobody in this world has any experience with mental health work?? These people are trying to cope with too much trauma within themselves and they need to form support groups and discussion groups and grievance workshops and goals & planning sessions. More and more they seem to be walking headcases and not paying any attention to letting go of all the baggage they keep amassing. And...I love this show and I will keep watching. When does it start again? :D

 Why yes, Peter, they need to shoot a scene of everyone sitting in a circle and someone asking, "Glen, when that zombie tried to eat your face, how did that make you feel?"

They have done that in some way, shape or form...every time someone of importance has died on the show.

To me it's just more, or a supplement. It will be difficult for it to compete with the TWD given how well-developed the characters have been in that series and how extensive the story arc has been. But, the spin-off looks like it will take on a life of it's own, and it's excellent that it will have the same production team as TWD.

However, I would think it must be a singular short series, as opposed to an ongoing one, because it is is limited to the beginning of the outbreak.

When does it start again? :D

When I saw the October 11 day for the premier - which looks kick-ass - I thought :( that's so far away. Then when I saw the August 23rd date for the spin-off, summer got more interesting. :biggrinbo

Well, most of the characters have had breakdowns, and they do support each other through them. I do so wish that Father Gabriel's would finally end.

So in the next season Rick has finally goes completely bonkers?! LOL

Sure looks like it in the preview. And it appears that Morgan will become the leader.

Really looking forward to the new series, "Fear the Walking Dead." I'm a little bit worried about what's going to happen with Rick in the established series. He really seems to have tipped over the edge. At the same time, how did Morgan dig himself out of his deep psychological hole all by himself? Is he really sane at this point, or does it just appear so? This looks SO intense (but then, I've had many "holy sh*t moments with this series.)

I've already marked FEAR THE WALKING DEAD for a season pass. But I haven't watched the long preview on AMC.

I remember the lead actress from GONE GIRL - the detective - and I liked her. It'll be interesting to see the story from different point of view. I hope she's as determined and quick on the uptake as the smartest of the WALKING DEAD people.

The worst thing in zombie or outbreak movie: people who stand around going "what's happening?" when the audience at home is like HEY, dummy, have you never seen a zombie movie? they're dead, they're growling, they're going to bite you. Run!

In The Walking Dead universe, there is no such thing as zombie movies, so these people are encountering them for the first time.

I'm super excited for the new series. One of my favorite parts of zombie novels and movies is watching people deal with the initial outbreak. Like, your husband has been bit. What do you do? :watch:

I would be like Tara and Lilly and just stay in my apartment for as long as possible. Let the "weeding of the herd" happen. That way you can avoid as much drama as possible and let all the stooped people kill each other off so that there are a lot less problems to deal with once I (have to) leave my cocoon.

stake that sucker before he bites you.

Cut off his arms, remove his teeth and trot him around on a six foot pole/leash?
Definitely!!! As long as it wasn't me...an acceptable loss. Along with the college poolboy and the cute UPS guy that comes on Tuesdays. They'll be a scent-deterrent/camouflage, and can wear backpacks for carrying food, supplies and alcohol. ;) :EVILLE:

I have to say.... I'm really excited for "Fear The Walking Dead" to start. I've thought about it since the day it was announce last year. :cheer2:

Great question. Was there one spot on the map where the outbreak started, or many, in different parts of the world, all at once?

Did anyone else re-watch season one of THE WALKING DEAD, where Rick and the initial group of survivors make it to the CDC in Atlanta? I tried to listen closely to what the scientist doctor said - if he was sure of what he'd heard from other CDC/research sites (and corresponding places in other countries). Or if he was repeating reports that were not confirmed.

He mentioned France as a place they were working on a zombie-treatment-cure. But not sure if he said where the outbreak started.

I guess there a WALKING DEAD wiki that has all this stuff compiled.
