The Mao cheer thread #3 - "For the love of skating"

Yes, yes, yes! Mao did a good job for Mai! Here is a clip which has the first half of the program. Mao is very good at hiding Mai's weakness (i.e. stroking) and showcasing her strength (i.e. gorgeous body lines). Above all I'm happy to see Mai's enjoying this program as well as Mai's challenging the detailed footworks. I've already watched this video for 5 times!

Compare how Mai looks a better skater in Mao's program than in the black swan she skated in THE ICE 2017.

Happy Mai's back involved in figure skating. Mao must be happy too. :)

That was great choreography and I can tell it really inspired Mai. It has a free spirited feel and reflects the spirit of the music wonderfully. I love the arcing arabesque and dancing moves.

As for Mao at the last show of XOI yesterday, she didn't skate but participated a little bit: it was reported in twitter, that Mao joined a group number during the 2nd half of the show. She showed up at one of the exits, and sledded across the ice gracefully in a sled ;) (It seemed she used Oda's sled at the beginning of the number in the following clip):

I really like this photo on a recently published magazine 'Number.' :inavoid:

How far she came since this photo was taken! :glamor:

Mao's choreography is ADDICTIVE! I see how much Mao paid attention to every note of the music. :rollin:Mai tried her best to follow Mao's advice "listen to the music during your footwork."

Happy Mao had a bit of fun in XOI. :)

Did Mao choreograph her new programs too?, she should do it!!, I love this program for Mai. And wow, Mao look gorgeous in those photos of the calendar, there are no versions of those photos with better quality?

Last year Nepia published photos on their site. One can only hope.

ETA:
I'm not sure who choreographed the program at this point. Looks it's an emotional program.

Now Japanese Nationals are on going. I re-watched Mao's 2010 nationals performances today. After eight years it still makes me goosebumped.

Mao's Tarasova/choker neck phase has always been hard for me to rewatch as the programs were so dark and, in the case of Bells of Moscow, seemingly doom-laden. She looked choked and the performances were frighteningly intense. She was also too thin. I couldn't imagine what it must be like to practice to two such ominous pieces of music every day. What was Tarasova thinking, to do that to light-as-a-butterfly Mao? But looking at Bells of Moscow now, I do appreciate how remarkable and daring it was artistically. She performed it to the max and completely transformed herself into something possessed.

I still wish she had chosen different Olympic programs though! But those definitely prepared her for Ritual Fire Dance. If only she had been able to skate the RFD programs to their full potential.

@chapis, here are two videos of talk shows where Mao appeared yesterday (Dec 30).

In the first one, she enjoyed chatting with Ai Miyazaki (a golfer who also announced her retirement (to be after finishing this season) recently), Homare Sawa (former captain of football team representing Japan), Ai Fukuhara (Olympic medalist in table tennis).

In the second one, she was invited to a talk show whose host is Takeshi Kitano, a big name comedian as well as a famous movie director in Japan.

Sorry I don't have time to translate the videos. :/ Anyways, see the videos above (if interested) before they'll be gone.

Mao will appear on another talk show on Jan 6th (16:30-17:30 JPN time, TBS). And, Honolulu marathon will be aired on Jan 13th (16:00- JPN time, TBS).

ETA: Fixed the link to the second video.

thank you! @rosewood, it's good to know about roughly the time Mao will skate LIVE. I was able to watch both programmes from yesterday through another link and I like the talk show with Ai Miyazaki! ~ Happy New Year!!

I find it http://mov3.co/tbs/.

-wow, she looks so pretty with that gray dress
-Awww. Mai can´t stop crying
-I love how people in Japan greet each other without touching each other. Why could not I be born there?
- The link is not working anymore :wall:
-It is working again :rollin:
-Awww, omg, it seems is a program to thank to Mai :wuzrobbed, Mai can´t stop of crying, and there are pictures of both of them together. The song is beautiful, someone know the lyrics?

Thanks a lot for the link rosewood. It was great to see Mao skate again after so long. Her fluidity, sincerity of expression and those marvelous pirouettes in the step sequence were wonderful and so emotional. I could tell that Mao had used some of her former moves in other programs but transformed them into her own form of choreography with her own authentic originality.

As soon as they said the program was for someone special...it came to me that's probably for Mai (no wonder Mai tweeted earlier that she didn't know any detail about the performance). The performance is a dedication to Mai. I watched and cried through the program. It was very touching! And I can understand now why they say it has this nostalgic feeling...now I remember liking this song 'To future' by Kiroro in the past.
