Mrazkova/Mrazek changed their FD music

Rain, In Your Black Eyes by Ezio Bosso

Source: https://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00110767.htm
I really don't understand why. I think their previous FD (music) was fine, not a warhorse, but dramatic and appropriate for their strengths and style of skating. Maybe they and/or Zanni thought that such a well known music as 'Rain, in Your Black Eyes' would have more of an impact.

My guess is that the change is due to copyright problems. The ISU channel showed their FD without music during the GP France.

Yes, it was good FD music and would have stood out in the field. I've been waiting all season to see how they would do once the GP host politics were off the table, and now they will have a newbie or untailored program. Le sigh.

On the plus side, I find that 5th group lineup at Euros for the RD very interesting. With Orihara & Pirinen, Smart & Dieck, Mrazkova & Mrazek, and the Taschlers. If you have a weakness in that flight, it's going to be hard to hide it because there are some real strengths in that group.

dave lease mentioned on his post US Nats video tonight that the RD might potentially be changing next season due to music licensing. Mentioned it might be changing to a classical theme and that skaters are already talking about it. He talks about it in the first 5 minutes of the video.

I'm cautiously :cheer2: I really had enough of those entertaining RDs. I would even appreciate a Waltz RD, eventhough I'm not the biggest fan of Waltzes in general.

I’m in the minority of thoroughly enjoying the RD this year, but it’s my generation’s music. Was sorta dreading all the hip hop and EDM next year, so yay if they’re changing it.

I guess it’s too much to hope for that they’ll put the entire pattern and key points back in the RD….

I don't know how much DL knows regarding the RD theme for next year. He only brought the music rights clearance issue up on TSL after it was mentioned here on FSU. Perhaps he's done some checking around with his connections & heard the same from multiple people, but nothing he's said makes me think he has any better information than what was posted here in this thread last month. We won't know for sure until the IDTC announces it, and I suspect that will only happen after they have some meetings with coaches/skaters at Euros, 4CCs & Jr Worlds.

Since the IDTC is so obsessed with RDs going "viral," I wondering which more traditional rhythm might fit the bill in the eyes of the committee. Of course, technically anything could go viral and there's no point in trying to make that happen artificially.

If the IDTC had any sense, they'd absolutely go back to something like a waltz or ballroom theme for the RD next year.

If any of them are reading this... Do you know what debuts in January 2026? The next season of Bridgerton. It will be top of mind for many Olympics viewers and they may very well be enamored by ice dancing that evokes a 19th century ballroom. You should capitalize on that to drive a potential viral moment.

look if the isu is really looking for something to get the attention of social media a team that fully commits to the absolute camp of a polka program would do numbers
There is not a single ice dance team competing today that would properly lean fully into the camp of a polka rhythm except Orihara/Pirinen.

I'm thinking about our current top 4, and I actually think the waltz is further outside their wheelhouse than the polka.
I think it's a split.

GilPoir and ChoBat would do just fine with a waltz, and both would also have the proper energy required for a polka.

FearGib - definitely agree, a waltz would be further outside their wheelhouse than a polka.

GuigFab - I don't think either a waltz or a polka is particularly in their wheelhouse.
