Making the Junior World team would be a longshot, I would have thought. Youth Olympics is a much bigger opportunity for a young team.Great opportunity for Olivia and Dylan. But I hope it wouldn't interfere with Nats...that's probably more important in terms of potential JW spots, or maybe not....
I agree, especially since all three of the teams who were on this year's Jr Worlds team are still young enough for Jrs next season, not to mention the Peals and Bland/Sperry will be in the mix.Making the Junior World team would be a longshot, I would have thought. Did tey change age out requirements for girls? I thought it was 18 years oldPost Junior Worlds, a look at the likely junior field next season. With the Mrazeks likely choosing to move up and several teams aging out Grimm/Savitskiy and Neset/Markelov look like early favourites. Then quite a few teams potentially in the mix for bronze: Fradji/Fourneaux, Hauer/Starr, Carhart/Horovyi; Kudryavtseva/Karenkevich had a rough season but could bounce back next year, especially now they have a more stable training environment and will probably be Zanni's top junior team. Tkachenko/Kiliakov and Pinchuk/Pogorielov too, though Mrazeks aside they're probably the most likely of the junior eligible teams to move up. And Kida/Morita underperformed in Calgary but could also be a wildcard.

Nevermind it is 19. Elizabeth Tkachenko / Alexei Kiliakov has one season. She is 19 before July 1, 2024Did tey change age out requirements for girls? I thought it was 18 years old
Probably. Ilin & Cain are very competitive in the RD as they often have among the highest pattern levels. Once they are age eligible, they may score higher domestically overall. However, they are young and have nerves and have the same challenge as any small team in that it's hard to look powerful on the ice next to all the taller older skaters. Next season will be a good learning experience.Making the Junior World team would be a longshot, I would have thought. Youth Olympics is a much bigger opportunity for a young team.
@Belsornia (thanks a lot for compiling your list! ) is correct - Tkachenko/Kiliakov have 2 more years of ISU Junior age eligibility (she is 17 now/for 2023-24 and 18 in 2024-25): http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00108071.htmElizabeth Tkachenko / Alexei Kiliakov has one season. Judy = Blumberg.

thanksJudy is a Shin Amano of ice dance. She is a stickler.
My highlight among the top teams was Lim & Quan, who I thought skated very solidly and the closest to their potential at this stage of their careers. But I agree with you that B&B finished where they did because of the levels, plus Judy was on the panel (which couldn't have been predicted), plus B&B had the pressure of living up to expectations from last season, which is always tough. Still they're going to come out of this season well, though, I assume. They were top 24 last season on the World Standings list, and now they've a JGPF title and another bronze to go with it. Should leave them in good stead for the GP for next season.
explain Judy pls?
why would Judy Blumberg on panel be a bad thing? I am not in the know

To get a sense of Judy Blumberg's attitude towards ice dance watch these two videos back-to-back:thanks
That B/K choreography was atrocious. Who was their choreographer and coach at the time?To get a sense of Judy Blumberg's attitude towards ice dance watch these two videos back-to-back:
You can see that she really pays attention to the holistic content and what the skaters are doing with the blades, so as a tech panelist, she'll be a huge stickler for technique, edges, cleanliness, and overall execution.
I think that was when they were using Dubova only. I’ve always wondered why they didn’t work with Giuseppe Arena (sp?) again. He choreographed their FD from the previous year. I seem to recall that they had started out with a better OD but dumped it for this yucky one. Oh, and A & P should have won 1998 Worlds. That B/K choreography was atrocious. And probably 2001 too.And 1999 too!
This brings me to the question: how come A&P only have 1 World Championship title? And probably 2001 too.

I remember wishing Beethoven's Last Night was just Beethoven. I actually enjoyed FP/M's RJ FD but A&P were still way better even with a meh FD. As for B&K in 1998, I always thought having no competition in Canada and having no high-level training mates to push them was detrimental to their development. But what do I know? It's definitely a travesty A&P only have one world title. I get Beethoven's Last Night was a real misfire of a FD, but I still don't think it was so bad that it Italians passed it with Romeo + Juliet. When they didn't fall, that is.
I've often felt if A&P had won 1999 worlds, they wouldn't have been so vulnerable the rest of the quad. I certainly preferred A&P's programs that year, but I'm definitely not skilled enough to definitively say they deserved the win. (Also I loved K&O until that year...)
B&K in 1998 looked like a shadow of themselves from 1997. How they managed to have the worst OD despite some lame and tacky programs in general is ridiculous.
Agreed on both points. I was thrilled more skaters were using the (imo, awesome) R+J soundtrack, and FP&M sure sold the crap out of that program. But they still weren't A&P.I remember wishing Beethoven's Last Night was just Beethoven. I actually enjoyed FP/M's RJ FD but A&P were still way better even with a meh FD. Wow, I can just imagine the conspiracy theories one could come up with by comparing the 1999 Euros & Worlds FD results@Andrea82 - the Europeans results in question are here:
Lobacheva/Averbukh managed a first (from LTU) and two 2nds, which caused the 4-4 first-place ordinal split. This was the first season that three non-Euro judges had to be on the panel, and two of those three (CAN & JPN) gave K/O the first place vote. USA put them 3rd.
In the podcast they speak about how Anthony's parents also skated to Summertime - here is a video (which he didn't see until after their GPs this year)ETA: I've posted the link to a Carreira/Ponomarenko podcast interview in both their fan & U.S. Ice Dance threads today.
