The Amazing Race 29 - complete strangers

I'll admit I did hope Brooke and Scott would flunk the simple math and head to the wrong section to look for their next clue.

I think that for most the entire last leg, it was obvious that Brooke and Scott were way ahead of the other two teams. At first I thought that their math error was quickly corrected, but the editors cut where one of them said, "no...4 plus 4 is 8". Because they were searching every row, that entire section represented their number. They were not shown going twenty sections over looking through each row. So now I'm wondering if the producers fed them that "4 plus 4 equals 10" line as a desperate attempt to create some drama for the episode. Only at the subway station at the beginning of the episode did we see two teams close enough to rub shoulders.

Yeah, lame finale and my suspicions were right. Everyone seemed too friendly and casual this season, almost like a lot of it was indeed scripted or like most of them really didn't care that much. See the Finale as an example-- the finish line was.... ordinary? compared to most of the other seasons and even the final challenge wasn't really THAT hard. Bring back something like the challenge where they had to put one item from each destination onto a scale but there were several caveats about what the final items could entail, etc. I think everyone knows what places they finish in each leg without much trouble, and a mistake or two would be fixed pretty quickly.

But yeah. Please bring back all pre-existing relationships or even another All-Stars season with the most competitive teams. Any drama is going to be better than Brooke's voice.

I liked Scott but ugh, Brooke.

Do the other teams win prize money based on final placement too? Or is only the overall winners?

That was season 12, and that logic puzzle was the absolute best final challenge this show has done. IIRC there was a point where all 3 teams were working on it at the same time, and the pressure was on knowing it would be the final task before the finish line.

I could do without another All Stars season, but I've read that early casting for season 30 is interviewing both couples and singles. Here's to hoping they find enough couples to make good TV and we don't have this whole stranger thing happening again.

Everybody gets a stipend regardless of where they finish, and I know in past seasons the additional prize money was tiered based on placement. It wasn't anything significantly large in comparison to the $1,000,000 prize, but I believe runners up got $50,000 (or somewhere around there), and 3rd place was ~$25,000, all the way down to $1,000 or $2,000 for the first couple eliminated. I don't know if they still do this, or how much teams would get since the budget for this show is shrinking with each passing season.

Congrats to Scott and the set of fingernails scratching down life's blackboard that he carried through the entire race and eventually, across the finish line.

This made me LOL! I had to share it with my husband, who also LOL.

Brooke is a criminal defense lawyer. Can you imagine listening to her in court? "But Your Honor, I'm doing my beeeeeeeeeeeeeest! Don't you overrule me! I'm tryyyyyyyyyyyyyying!"

Every reality TV participant gets industry rate for appearing on television, so there's that. I don't know what anyone on TAR gets these days, either, but I have always heard that it's pretty measly.

TAR can get away with it as many of the applicants are willing to do it for nothing just to have the chance to travel.
