The Amazing Race 29 - complete strangers

Team Fun or Tara/Joey FTW
Brooke is making me want to go back and rewatch Flo's season - who was worse?
Scott's shocked reaction that brooke finished the mask task - loved it.
Liz/Michael - I initially liked them, not so much anymore.
The Guys - finally won, still not thrilled with them.
Luggage task - too funny!
And I hope those people on the gondolas that had to listen to the signing were paid, and not paying customers.
And again- attention to details - watch the demo etc.

Chemistry66 - thanks for post. Interesting.
The whole social aspect of this season is annoying. I guess it is an outcome since noone came in with their bestie/relative?
So will LoLo be targeted in another Uturn for them not helping. How about targeting a team that you want eliminated due to their strong racing? Has there been 3 uturns before?

I feel pretty much the same as you on all the teams. Yeah Brooke reminds me of Flo but at leasst Flo had a good partner in Zach, while I can't stand Scott. So Liz and Michael got saved twice now... wish some of the other teams had gotten the non-elimination rather than them.... sigh

There should be another non-elimination in either the 9th or 10th round, AR loves having them in the 7th round so that was not a surprise that Liz & Michael were saved.

Agree they need to mix up when they do the NEL's. I was totally expecting it tonight and frankly, if those Racers were Fans of the show, they should have known it as well.

I am totally on board for a Team Fun win! They will be my Team to root for the win now. Tara and Joey are a close second, but she was starting to annoy me last night.

Thought for future Race: Pair up Racers from different Seasons and make Brooke and Flo a Team.

:blah: I wouldn't have cared much if this was an elimination leg. Big Beard's whining that LoLo didn't point them in the right direction when they were fighting for last place was complete

I didn't rewind to double check, but I'm pretty sure I heard Brooke utter an "I can't" while they were rehearsing the singing detour. SINGING. Her I Can't List is on so many pages by now she's probably single-handedly speeding up the Amazon deforestation.

I'm glad Big Beard is gone - he kept blaming everything on his partner but if he had turned around when she first told him to, they would have beat Team Fun. Instead he insisted that they'd be able to find another way over the mountain, even though partner, who was looking at the map, told him there wasn't and he finally had to admit she was right. And then on top of that, he forgot to grab his goat, forcing them to climb all those stairs all over again.

I am glad they are gone, but wish they would have taking Brooke with them. Did they turn Brooke's mike off this week though? Not as annoying.
Big Beard and Liz - I hate those kind of conversations they had in the car - neither look good. And pay attention to details.
And true - him not wanting to turn around is what was hurting them - they would have been Team Fun.
Team Fun - glad they are still in it.
Overall I feel less engaged with this season. Can't wait for it to be over.

I'm curious if Mike would have fared as well with any of the other contestants as his partner. It was time for them to go and I'm glad it worked out that Team Fun beat them (barely) to the mat.

Red Beard lost me when he refused to turn around. If he would have immediately stopped when Liz told him too (which was almost immediately after they made the wrong turn), and the fact that Team Fun also got hopelessly lost, they would have beat them to the Mat, even with the U-Turn, redoing the U-Turn, and the Speed Bump. Why was he so positive there would be another way! I pulled up Google Maps to my own house and there's a good spot to use as a "split" just like they did. I followed the 'wrong way' to my house and could not find another way to actually get back other than getting right back on the same road (i.e. turning around!) and going back to the starting point where you split. Why in the world did he think "just keep going and we'll pick it up!". Dumb. So I'm glad they are gone because I want Team Fun to win. :P

I still do not like the placement of the U-Turn! You should have to complete the Task FIRST, and then place the U-Turn right behind the guy you get your clue from. Even though I don't much like it anyway. Plus it also makes the U-Turned Team have no clue while they are racing thru their first Task. Adds more :drama:.

Bummed for Team Fun. Love this attitude. Wonder if they would come back
I just cannot stand Brooke and her voice.
But Scott is amusing - and he is way more patient than I would be. luv his 'you r the worst'. So true so true. And her having twins.
Not thrilled w alliances this late in. Play for your own team!

Very sad for Team Fun. One of my favorite teams ever! I just saw a picture of Floyd with Phil at his recent CU college graduation. Turns out that Phil's daughter was graduating from the same school!

:wuzrobbed :wuzrobbed :wuzrobbed :wuzrobbed :wuzrobbed There have been very few times I have actually legitimately cried for someone getting eliminated. This was one of those times. And the way they went out even more scary.

I know the point of the Game is traveling to different countries and doing tasks that are sometimes every day living in those countries, but if they are gonna be in a place that is hotter than the blazes of Hell, at least lighten the task a little bit. 17 + 15 of those baskets was crazy. Sure the people who live there can do that stuff, they've been doing it their whole lives. Make it 12+10 baskets on a smaller frame or something.

They have to call the Roadblock before reading the Clue and once called, they cannot say "no you do this one instead". Is that correct or a rule of the Game? I know its a moot point since they had to ride bikes to get there, but let's pretend they cabbed it to the Task, Partner A calls it, then finds out its a biking task .... and you don't know how to ride a bike. What would happen then? Do they let you have training wheels in the Game if you don't know how to ride a bike? I haven't been on a bike since 1983. I don't know that I could even ride a bike anymore.

When the Game started, was it Becca that picked Floyd, or Floyed picked Becca? They definitely should get a shot at the next All Stars version.

I really did not like The Boys at the beginning, but I guess they aren't so bad. I wouldn't mind them winning. Definitely not Scott and Brooke though! I hope they go down next week and its totally Brooke's fault that it happens! :p

Sorry to see Team Fun go.
Did I say that Team Mom and Dad gave me Dandrew vibes? I'd like to take that back and say that LoLo is the one giving me Dandrew gives (for a few episodes actually). Speaking of Dandrew, who else wish they had done last week's marching roadblock?

Prediction time: Hard to predict final three at this point, I can't seem to spot a winner edit from anyone. The fact that The Boys are always on the top pack but it's rarely acknowledged other than when they win a leg makes me think that they'll either not make the final three or get 3rd place (it's just a feeling, one that I've gotten with other teams in the past). Since LoLo is giving me the Dandrew vibes then they will probably make the top three and then they will either come in 3rd or win the whole thing. Team Mom and Dad seem poised to win OR get eliminated next since everyone is hunting for them. Brooke and Scott are simply too hard to kill, they're going all the way to the finals, sorry.
My prediction is that either The Boys or Mom and Dad won't make the final three. I really, really, hope I'm wrong. They both deserve to be in the final, and I really wish Seth and Olive were still in the race, it would have been a great top three. Again, this is just a prediction based on what I see and what I've seen in the last 15-16 years of TAR, so it's worth nothing.

I've had Game Show Network on in the background all day, and a Hollywood Game Night episode from a few years ago aired and I Can't Brooke was a contestant. Shockingly I didn't hear a single "I can't!" from her the entire time. Her team won and she won $25,000 at the end for winning the celebrity name game. Her voice was still super annoying. Unfortunately her success there probably helped get her on TAR.

That is correct. They also have to do an equal number of Roadblocks, which sometimes boxes them in and predetermines that one of them will do the Roadblock.

I know its a moot point since they had to ride bikes to get there, but let's pretend they cabbed it to the Task, Partner A calls it, then finds out its a biking task .... and you don't know how to ride a bike. What would happen then?

Partner A had better learn how to balance and pedal at the same time.

There was one season where a team was boxed-in--one of the team members had to do a driving task in a stick shift and didn't know how to drive a stick shift. He learned on the spot.

That was Lynn & Alex from season 7, in a leg in Botswana. I remember it well because that was the first season I started watching TAR. Luckily both partners were in the car for that roadblock and his partner was able to talk him through how to drive the car. I remember they survived that leg despite the setback. Those were also back in the good days where teams did everything for themselves and didn't rely on alliance mates giving them answers or teaming up to finish tasks.

Yes! Lynn (I think?) had to drive through a large puddle.

I don't at all understand this alliance nonsense. This isn't Survivor!

So true!!!!
It does seem worse this season. Is due to no one knowing each other before.
And in between legs, if someone is not bonding with their partner, or just spending time apart to not get on each others nerves, they are making friends with others which is leading to alliances?

LiliaA - good point about the Boys - they seem to be decent racers, but in general just close, but not dominating.
Please refresh my memory on DanDrew vibes - I just can not remember them. Thanks.

Thanks Prancer, it's always good to see THAT again
The whole Dandrew vibes are due to them always being behind, always at the bottom pack, always having to catch up....but somehow they made the final 3. Every few seasons there's a team like that.

I agree about all the alliances and the helping of other teams. This isn't Survivor. And I don't recall so many contestants whining and crying and yelling for help from their competitors all in one season. I was annoyed at that one woman crying for Floyd to help her. And I couldn't believe that he did!

^^ This!! How the hell was Floyd supposed to help her without dropping his bike as well, or dropping baskets, which he did! I wish there was a Rule in the Game that said "you cannot help another person in a Task, if you do you incur a Time Penalty for both Teams!". Or something, I don't know how to make it work, but something saying 'no helping'!. The Boys kinda/sorta helping Becca and Floyd with the ladder wasn't really "helping" in my view. Neither Team could move unless one of them got out of the way (they should have been sent to different stairwells, not the same stairwell). So that was different. But there should be a Rule of no helping other Teams, whether it be answers to questions, how to do a Task, actually DOING the Task for them (hello Brooke!), where a location is ..... anything. No helping! I hate that. :p
