The 2024-25 Awards Season Thread

Here’s the list of Emmy nominees.

Good Lord, a lot of these categories are stacked!

The 2025 Emmy Awards will be on September 14 on CBS. Nate Bargatze will be the host.
They are but I’m still annoyed Dichen Lachman didn’t get in for Supporting Actress for Severance. She was amazing last season.

Very pleased about Cristin Milioti for The Penguin (obviously). I’m hoping Janelle James can win Supporting Actress in a Comedy this season for Abbott Elementary. They gave her some really good stuff last season and she was fantastic.

Glad "Somebody, Somewhere" received an acting nod in the supporting category. It might the first time I'm interested in the award for animation because I liked "Common Side Effects" so much. Although I loved a lot of series on thoses lists the stand-out for me was "Adolescence." That boy better walk away with an Emmy--Stephen Graham as well.

I find Severance funnier than The Bear. I’ve given up on understanding categories. Somebody, Somewhere should be nominated and win for both comedy and drama as I laughed and cried more than either of those two frontrunners.

Maybe they should have a dramedy category. Somebody, Somewhere would fit perfectly.

Speaking of "Somebody, Somewhere" CBS Sunday morning interviewed Bridget. She is all kinds of awesome. I didn't realize the show received a writing nomination and has already won the Peabody. If you are interested here is the interview:

I LOVE this idea of donating money to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and using the time the winners talk to help keep the speeches on time. Kudos to the host for that awesome idea! :cheer:

KATHERINE WON!! I am only watching tonight because I want to see if The Pitt wins anything and they've already got one! :cheer:

Lead Actress in a Drama Series: Britt Lower, Severance

A bit surprised that Kathy Bates didn’t win for Matlock. But Severance is a stronger show.

And Bates was a former President of SAG. I think she was the favorite to win, but obviously the love for "Severance" is deep with its amazing 27 nominations.

@HeatherC "The Pitt" won a couple of Emmys last week at the Creative Arts Emmys as well.

This host is not impressing me. :shuffle:

IMHO, The Golden Girls deserved a better tribute than that.
I agree even though the song was nicely done.

The host isn't bothering me too much tonight but my standards for hosting an awards show are pretty low. Keep it moving, don't be stupid, and at least make me chuckle a few times (which he has tonight). :)

What happened to Sterling? I missed how he hurt his foot.
