Do you think that the book is the retirement "announcement"? Or, do you think they re-considered since the book was published? Technically, it's still fall.....
If they announce it, they’ll do it properly (probs like Patrick Chan did).

Any news from V/M? SC is coming and I'm having a serious V/M withdraw. Did our fellow fans go to the Thank You shows? Any fluff from the book?

The Quebec show is Nov 10, so I can report back after that. There are clips of their show and recent interviews they have done about their show on Youtube if you want to check those out.

I wonder if VM will ever decide to do a world tour like T&D once did after they won in 1984. The neat thing is that most of their current Thank You Canada cast are also stars that are bankable worldwide, so if VM pay more/host a tour that's otherwise better than other tours, they might just stick with VM. Then VM could add other guests if they are able to get them.

Still haven't had time to read the book lol. Probably around Christmas break sigh. If you're looking for constant info on VM, tumblr is the place to be though it might not be for the faint of heart lol.

@sap5 They've been hinting in interviews that this wouldn't be their last producing gig so who knows. There's a lot of interviews and such on this person's tumblr

I really like the idea of world wide tour. Many many fans of V/M are not Canadian and never got a chance to see them live. I really think there is a big potential market if they bring the shows to Europe, east Asia or even America, especially they add more local star skaters.

I am going to the afternoon show in Mississauga this Sunday (Oct. 28th) and will report back!

I bought the book, but haven't had time to read it (or at least the new parts - I read and have the original from back when it was first published) yet. Like someone upthread said, I probably won't have time until winter break. :p

I kind of doubt there will be a world tour because the Canadian dollar is low right now and the cost of touring internationally is huge. My friends are in a fairly well-known Canadian band and they have essentially stopped touring outside of North America because the costs of travel and booking venues, etc. in Europe and overseas are too high. The money and publicity that are gained by touring abroad are not worth the costs. A big skating show would be even more expensive in terms of venue booking and touring costs, and probably wouldn't have the huge audiences that they are able to garner in Canada (unless they went to Japan and got Yuzuru involved, hahaha!).

It’s going to be interesting to see where he ends up in a couple of years.

And instead of studying for my exam I thought it a better idea to procrastinate by browsing VM content. I’m so glad they have the kind of relationship they do with Marie and Patch especially after their fallout with Marina. https://anewbeginningagain.tumblr.com/post/172764179136/i-think-i-just-melted-alamy

Yup, loving the idea of Scott (and/or Tessa) taking up role as coaches in the future ... Thanks for sharing these links, Shayii :) I too am going through a V/M withdrawal. (Too busy to be here during Olympics, now on downtime, catching up on all goodies. So glad for Youtube too)

Enjoy the TTYC shows, you guys! Lucky :)

LMAO to the Halloween costumes!!

Reposting my thoughts on the Thank You Canada tour here (originally posted in the Thank You Canada thread in GSD), with extra VM content added:

I was at the afternoon show in Mississauga today and I really liked it. It wasn't quite up to the standards of Stars on Ice in its real heyday (late 90s), but overall well-produced, with good transitions and fun group numbers. My favourite parts were Patrick's skate to Eric Radford's original composition, "Storm", with Eric playing the piano on ice, and of course VM's Moulin Rouge, which I've now seen three times and never gets old. I also really enjoyed the segment where VM did an off-ice hip-hop dance to Madonna's "Four Minutes" on a platform at centre ice. I know a lot of people were not into that because they would rather have more skating, but I thought it was a fun showcase of their dance skills (especially Tessa's, but Scott can hold his own!) and gave the audience something a bit different.

VM skated Moulin Rouge in the first act and definitely got the loudest applause of Act I. It was preceded by an intro on screen that flashed words like "DESIRE", "LOVE", "JEALOUSY", etc. between shots of VM in intense poses while the MR intro music played.

In Act II, they didn't have a solo number per se aside from the hip-hop dance. They did have featured roles in several of the group numbers - there was a fun number with futuristic costumes and holographic glasses that led into D/R skating to "Sweet Dreams" that VM were in, and they were heavily featured in the closing number to Rihanna's "Diamonds" - they skated solo to the whole song intro (which is mostly Rihanna singing with just piano accompaniment before the full music kicks in and the rest of the group joins), with Tessa (and the rest of the girls) in a flesh-coloured unitard with crystal beading and sequins all over it that actually shone like crazy diamonds in the spotlights. There was also a girls vs. boys "dance battle" number where Tessa skated with Kaetlyn and Kaitlyn to Shania Twain's "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" and another song I've forgotten, and Scott skated with Patrick and Andrew to "We Will Rock You" and Ginuwine's "Pony", which involved the boys "ripping" their shirts to show suspendered bare chests.

I would have loved for them to skate a full second number, but most of the second act was group numbers with featured spots, and not many full solo programs. (I did love Kaitlyn and Andrew's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", which was one of the few full solo programs in the second act.)

The crowd was really into Sam Chouinard's "flashmob" part, which was in a group number that featured Kaetlyn skating to a Cardi B. song and another song mixed with that.

Overall, all the skaters looked like they were having a blast and VM just looked really happy and relaxed to me. It was great to see them all looking relaxed, like they were just hanging out and having fun with their friends, which is kind of what they were doing... with a few thousand people watching. ;)

Elena Ilinykh talking about Tessa and Scott
From a coach point of view already, is there an ice dance couple at the moment that impresses you?

[enthusiastically] Tessa and Scott count?

Let’s analyze PyeongChang if you want, yes…

I love Tessa and Scott, everybody knows that. I’m just in love with them. Like I’m in love with figure skating, and I’m even more in love with Tessa and Scott.

I liked [their programs] the season they came back – but what they showed in PyeongChang was a different Tessa and Scott! And how they risked on the elements, how they did it, and how they skated… I was crying! I was commentating, and I was crying because what I saw, and how they improved themselves.

Because they have all the medals – they can go on the ice and just stand, and they will be already on the podium. But they didn’t! They worked, and they showed a different Tessa and Scott! They didn’t come like the double Olympic medalists. And that’s why I have so much respect for them, that’s why I love them so much.

Basically you’re a fan.

Yeah, I’m a fan! [laughing]
I love what she says about them!!!

Our plans have changed and we won’t be able to make the Nov 10 Quebec City show. :( Not sure if there is a way to sell the tix bc we don’t have them in our hands, but if there is and you’re interested, let me know.

Interviewer: Please talk about the attractiveness of the ice dance from the skater side/the public side. What are the important points when you did try out? Do you have any songs or creations you would like to use in the program in the future? What are the highlights of this year’s RD/FD? Please tell me your favorite pattern dance.

Misato Komatsubara: For me Tango Romantica, I used to watch the teams performing it at the Olympic Games, it was always the one I wanted to do and finally this year arrived. It’s hard but it’s interesting, lots of holds and changes of position. At “Dreams on Ice” in Japan, Tessa and I were talking about which is our favorite pattern and it’s the Tango Romantica for both of us. We were lucky Tessa and Scott gave us a little private lesson during one of the practices there.
