Team Event Men SP:
Congrats to Patrick Chan and Mikhail Kolyada for getting on :gallopin1-POTS shortlist :drama:

Chan: I am dying. This is one of my alltime fave SP's. I need that clean in the individual, I really do :drama:
ISR: In 2nd place
BabyRizzo: #missionbronze
Han Yan: Finally with normal hair colour but un-normal (season-normal) axel :drama:
Kolyada: Good lord :scream: And I do not even get Bob in the knc!
Fentz: Oh boy :scream:

Shoma: I love that his fashion icon is Blanche Devereux circa 1989. :respec: He's not one of my favorites but major respect for not melting down like everyone else.

Bychenko! 9 points! POTN for sure. And hottest he's ever looked since the bun

Chan: Gorgeous program, CAN really dodged a bullet

Chen: Something isn't right, even aside from the jumps, the skating looked really labored :yikes:

Rizzo: boring but 5th!! Hell yes! ITA for bronze.

Yan: do me hard

Kolyada. what a disaster. the future lies with Aliev and Ruvacikin!

Fentz: I already made my comments in the pbp thread. :shuffle:

What a strugglefest:scream:

Han's step sequence is my favourite of the season, but where's the axel gone? I miss the silver hair.

I agree @alchemy void that Chen looked out of sorts all over, not just on the jumps. Pressure:EVILLE:! But the whole thing opened the doors for Italy in such a big way, and now I'm torn because I'd love a medal for Mirai, but I also want someone to upset the RUS/CAN/USA stranglehold. Or maybe RUS will keep melting down and take themselves out - should have used GingerSoldier in the SP, because another FS without dying halfway through would be a miracle.

Was Fentz under strict instructions to make sure there was no way for Germany to make the free skate so Aliona didn't have to skate twice? :shuffle:

I will need therapy if she doesn't win a stupid event that doesn't matter if she wins. I'll be doing what I used to do when Kwan skated and leave the room and peak around the corner during the skate. Zen. It's just practice. That's all.

Therapy?! I will need to be ****ing committed. I have a whole new level of understanding for the crying Fanyus.

I dont know why anyone is surprised at how awful the mens team short was. Have you all been under a rock, the mens event has been horrible all year. How else to explain Chen being undefeated going into the Olympics, does anyone think that would even be possible if this year wasnt a total mess.

Team Recap Day 1:

Men: :scream::scream: Im usually annoyed by the pessimists who whine all the time the quad mania is ruining the sport but damn did the guys really like to prove their point over and over. What a disaster!!:notworthy:

Uno: Ok-ish but after so many meltdowns it felt like heaven.
Bychenko: The old dog did it!! Good spoil
Chan: The fact that mess still gave CAN the gold is tragic.
Chen: I like the kid, hes soo talented but secretly I want the NBC and USFS hype to fail miserably ..
BabyRizzo : I like him every day more
Yan: Its days like these that I kinda understand boss weakness to have him in the team.
Kolyada: The boy hasnt landed shigt all season long. Whose idea was to put him on the SP. OAR changes completely gone.
The rest: I dont care.

Pairs:
Mostly good routines.. such a cleansing hour after the men's nightmare

Tarazova & MOrozov: RO-SSI-YA!!!! I loved the shots of the fans with tons of russian flags. Flawless
Empress: She looked like 60 year old but still kick ass. Like a granny that still has it. Shame about the fall.
D&R: bland but good.
J&C: Why so low, did I miss something.
The Knierims: So corny yet so loveable.. My teeth ache but I dont care.
Yu & Zhang: Georgeous program , zero chemistry.
The lower teams: pretty good for their standards actually.

Overall, I hate the K&C sections are so small with everyone packed like sardins with no room to crazy moments. Where's the german horn? Or was it a drum that Gazsi played?

Pet Peeve: Hate, hate , hate the latin american commentary. A guy whos clueless about the sport and a girl whos a fan for sure but seems like stuck in the 6.0 era. One of their gems during the Knierims: "They are married so they must be a couple off the ice too".:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Do-Hard Award: Vanessa James.

I am shocked Savchenko & Massot had a big fall in the short even without trying the throw triple axel. I thought that they gave up on the throw triple axel their inconsistency issues were mainly in the past, but apparently not the case. I hope this isnt an early foreboding on Aliona feeling the pressure of wanting that Oly Gold, even in a skate in the Team Event where obviously this wouldnt be happening.

I think everyone having to drag their a$$es out of bed  and compete a few hours later so that one side of the world can see it live has everybody all ~~~~ed up! :D

I am just saying the mens event has sucked all year. The GPF was basically Chan winning with his 3 mistakes over Uno with his 5 over Kolyada with his 6, over a bunch of guys behind them who cant even do quads and didnt even skate cleanly without them. The mens team short is just basically a continuation of what the mens event has been all season long, a giant poopfest, as it has been all year.

Ok, saw most of the pairs...

Empress stunning indeed. Nice to have a warm-up. Bruno looked quite comfy out there.

Fierce and Ginger looked not so comfy. Evgenia seemed terrified before they started the program. But they mechanically nailed it, well done my kids! Mozer indeed need a stellar poncho, good for her, those OAR outfits doesn't exactly scream party.

D&R doing the North American snooze, but he is so stunning I'll forgive them. Norwegian commentator gushing over their unison. Must be because it was five in the morning and he had been on air for some hours already.

J&C - when will they realize there's no power in the blue ribbon???? Vanessa's wedgie level 4. France won't advance anyway, so they can take Johnny for a drink and be back in a few days, rested.

Knierims - Somehow it made me think of Ashely's LLL. Pretty dress. Pretty. Pretty.

Ok, that's it, I've started watching the men. Team Event is fun! Love how all the skaters have a blast together in the booth. Da Schott had her hair done for the occasion. Looks fab! And gotta love the Russian supporters, they do everything to make up for the zzzz OAR uniforms.

Men/boys/grandpas, PBP while watching, knowing the result and everything:

Cha so cute. Not a disastrous skate at all. And so he's placing above all the quad guys:p Loved his teammates afterwards, Olympic glasses were kick-ass:respec: Orser must be THE multitasker of Olympic skating. How many team jackets does he own?

Fentz - How can I watch this program now without an image of Vice in my head? You ruined it. You! You!:40beers:

Chafik BESSEGAYER (some Eurosport Player dude nailing french pronunciation) - well, I won't remember that skate tomorrow, will I?

Han Yan :gallopin1 - Finally his hair is not hay coloured. His flow is so lovely. That 3a scared the hell out of me. Poor guy! Very nice features though, from every angle. And watching his program, I know I said earlier here that he's not really my biggest heartbreak, but I think I must eat my words. I do love the guy. Awwww Xue Shen is in da house!!!

Baby Rizzo - Who needs those quads anyway? I see a pattern here:D But what a beautiful program that is. Passion connected. Vale very into the performance. Hey, great slo-mo graphic of the 3a. Team Italy booth happy!

Chan - Indeed, I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok in the booth! Larkyn almost has Janet Lynn-hair. Ok, I love Patrick. Maybe this was his warm up too. Or maybe not. All these people warming up. The IE will be there before you know it!!!

Cutie Bychenko - :respec: This is not the geriatric season for nothing!
Danny Salmon seems of good spirits. Is this where it all turns around? Mentor Bychenko is at least showing him how it's meant to be done.

Chen - I read in the PBP (?) that he has three pairs of skates that he wears back to back, all duct taped... Can't someone provide the kid better footwear? Program is great, he seems to enjoy it. Love his movements. Great spins. But wtf on the 4t. And then the 3a. Told you, the mens event is beyond impossible to predict.

Kolyada - When I woke up at 5.15 this morning to get ready for practice, the first thing I did was checking men's results. When I saw Misha's placement I just :wall: Then I read what he had (not) done, and again :wall: But a surprise it was not. Did he skate a clean sp the whole season? He's such a head case he's not even a train wreck anymore. Maybe he wants to join the club and is trying to hard? Burning the ticket office down? But I love his layback! And always will! (How come the Russian team booth is so lacking? I'm totally disappointed. Take responsibility you guys, we've seen at World Team Trophy that you can do it!)

Uno - :cheer::cheer: I want him to skate last in the men's sp. I want him to go out there and nail this program to perfection and take the lead, as THIS is an Olympic sp and he is my velvet puppy and my saviour! (If he doesn't, then it has to be Ten!) Love the 4t3t right on the music. Love the spread eagles in and out of his 3a. Love how he holds and moves his head. Love the contend, little smile in between the two final spins. Love that he spins just as fast as his fast music. Ok, I'm gushing. And a new outfit again, his clothes budget is bigger than any female skater. But of course, he has no will of his own, so it's Yamada feeling like shopping, and the result is this. Oh, and Chris Reed so handsome cheering!

Note: Unknown Eurosport Player commentators lost it at the end. Vihauldi wrote Winter and Yagudin skated to it. :rofl:Now, off to the opening ceremony!! :cheer:

Bychenko was the highlight of last night for me. He looked hot and skated great, showing the sonograms how it’s done! Too bad NBC chacked him :blah:

Aliona looked rejuvenated and lovely. I swear she is aging in reverse. Nice to see some cheeky sass from Bruno too

It's because of the massive distance and height she gets on the throw. Sometimes, it's hard to hold onto the landing. She'll be fine. I was more worried about Bruno keeping his nerves under control and he did great. This was just a practice event for them as Germany won't be moving on in the team event anyway.

An article in the German thread suggests that she did the entry for the wrong jump. Preparing for an axel and then doing a flip would certainly throw you off.
