To all my peeps in Las Vegas, Surya Bonaly is a dear dear friend of mine, and her home was burglarized and they took all her medals from Worlds and Europeans and her memorabilia if u see a pawn shop...

Ugh, I thought this was going to be a wuzrobbed thread, not a literally "was robbed" thread. I hope they find the wretch who did it and are able to recover her things.

I can't even wrap my head around what would go through someone's head to steal someone's medals.

Sympathy to Surya, not just for the loss of her medals but also for the violation that comes from having your home robbed.

Why did the thieves steal the medals? Probably to melt them down and sell them to fund a nasty habit. Copper pipes, catalytic converters, anything that has scrap value will be stolen. I hope against hope that Bonaly's medals will be found, but I expect they're melted by now. Sad to say.
