Are you talking about US SOI or CAN SOI?

US SOI has definitely had good crowds and it's a massive increase in attendance from at least the last decade if not longer.

Hertz Arena in Estero/Fort Myers has a capacity of about 7100 and looked pretty well filled to the rafters.
Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise/Fort Lauderdale (home of the FL Panthers) has a capacity of just over 19k for hockey and while it wasn't sold out, ticket sales were strong enough to have filled the lower two bowls and about 1/3 of the upper bowl from the videos I saw online.
Kia Center in Orlando (home of the Orlando Magic) has a capacity of just over 17k for hockey and it wasn't quite as full as Amerant Bank Arena the night before, but there were still fans sitting in some sections of the upper bowl.
Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville SC has a hockey capacity of 14k and from the videos tonight it looked like only the ends of the upper bowl weren't filled.

So, right now, they're easily performing for 12-15k depending on the size of the arena.

First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro NC has the largest capacity of the venues so far, coming in at 22k, and based on what's showing as available on Ticketmaster, it won't be anywhere close to sold out, but it's still going to have a sizable crowd.

Going through the rest of the arenas -
Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza (Wilkes-Barre PA) - 8300
Agannis Arena (Boston) - 6200
MVP Arena (Albany NY) - 14k
MassMutual Center (Springfield MA) - 6800
Amica Mutual Pavilion (Providence) - 11k
Prudential Center (Newark - home of the NJ Devils) - 16,500
Giant Center (Hershey) - 10,500
UBS Arena (Elmont NY - home of the NY Islanders) - 17k
Blue Cross Arena (Rochester NY) - 10,700
Enterprise Center (St Louis - home of the St Louis Blues & host for Nats this year) - 18k
Allstate Arena (Rosemont IL) - 16,700
Grand Casino Arena (St Paul MN - home of the MN Wild) - 18k
Blue FCU Arena (Loveland CO) - 5100
Maverik Center (West Valley City UT - host for 2027 Nats) - 10k
Honda Center (Anaheim - home of the Anaheim Ducks) - 17k
SAP Center (San Jose - home of the SJ Sharks) - 17,400
Numerica Veterans Arena (Spokane) - 10,300
Town Toyota Center (Wenatchee WA) - 4300
Climate Pledge Arena (Seattle - home of the Seattle Kraken) - 17k
Veterans Memorial Coliseum (Portland) - 10k
Mullett Arena (Tempe AZ) - 5k
Credit Union of TX Event Center 2 shows (Allen TX - host for SkAm 2023 & 2024) - 6300
Landers Center (Southaven MS) - 8500

It will be interesting to see how well the tickets sell as the tour progresses but from what I've seen, from the first four shows, the crowds are large and enthusiastic.
Out of curiosity, I just checked the Portland, OR show that I'm attending, and it seems to be sold out. The only available tickets are "resale" tickets. I got on ice seats for $231 each when they went on sale, and now they are over $900 :)

I wonder they will broadcast the US Stars On Ice this year on TV or Peacock.
The last time I remember SOI being broadcast on TV was the 90s. So far, we haven't heard anything about a broadcast this year, so I would doubt it.

And I would think if Nick Zaccardi's interviews were part of an NBC broadcast, they would have a nicer background than a cement wall.

NBC Sports posted interviews (on Youtube) with the Stars on Ice cast today. They interviewed them in Greenville, South Carolina. We can only hope. Alysa is a hot commodity right now.

SOI was broadcast on tv well into the 2000s. I think 2005 was the last time the full show was broadcast in the U.S. but a 1 hour clip show was on NBC for a few years after that as well. It was also consistently broadcast in Canada up until 2023.

It would be nice if they filmed this year’s show in the USA given the hype and success. Seems like it would probably do ok for NBC, though we’re getting into the warmer months now and skating likely isn’t top of mind. In Canada, CBC used to film the show in the spring and then wait until December to air it every year.

There could legitimately be enough interest with a few key players signed on to do some shows in the fall and winter like they used to back in the day. Lots of decisions I’m sure to be made on who wants to keep competing and who has some financial opportunities in a professional setting if they wish to do it.
When SOI was doing shows in the fall and winter, it was all professionals. They toured in the winter, and Champions on Ice had the Olympic eligible skaters tour in the summer. I'm not sure they could get enough big name skaters who are no longer competing to tour in the winter. I doubt USFS would sanction a winter tour with Ilia and Alysa; they want those skaters training and competing. They probably should have extended this spring tour a week or two but it may have been too late.

As an aside, I think having the three women do that Golden number was also very smart. I know they were getting dragged after the first show for the choreo being messy, but the girlies have gotten their shit together remarkably fast and the number looks very cool now. It’s well choreographed and is going to go over well in person and online. Good marketing to put your three leading ladies front and centre like that.
It's hard to put all those group numbers together in such a short time. Amber said she wasn't happy with her performance in the group numbers in the first few shows. And she said she blanked during Golden. But, they definitely put the work in to make it better by the second week. And, yeah, smart move to have a fun program to a super popular song.

Crazy sales across the board for the shows. The arena was like 12-13K maximum capacity and it looked nearly if not sold out. Watching the viral TikToks, it seems that's par for the course for every other showing beforehand. This is my first year for Stars on Ice, have sales always been this crazy? They're practically going to go on a nearly sold-out arena tour 🤣
Most of the stops are sold out b/c everyone wants to see Alysa Liu. This Alysa Liu mania is crazy b/c she won Olympic gold. When she won Worlds last year, I don't think there was as much buzz. SOI wasn't selling out shows. I don't think any American Olympic gold skater has been able to draw ticket sales like Alysa Liu. Nathan Chen, Davis/White, Evan Lysacek (was he on SOI?), Sarah Hughes, Tara Lipinski all weren't able to sell out shows. Even if Ilia Malinin won Olympic gold and Alysa got the silver, I bet the tickets wouldn't nearly be as sold out. Let's see how long the Alysa Liu mania lasts. Probably the last American female skater that had this much hype is Michelle Kwan.

I agree. However, I also know many people attended to watch Ilia and Amber. I think it's awesome that there are so many recognizable names in figure skating right now. The Olympic buzz and it's aftermath have been crazy to say the least. On TikTok, especially, dozens of videos are garnering millions of likes and views and the comment section is full of younger folks who are now buying tickets to nearby shows. In fact, a few college students drove 3-4 hours to watch a show recently... their first figure skating experience. With Alysa and Isabeau continuing and Amber potentially staying for another season or two, I'm excited for the growth of the sport in the U.S. this upcoming quad.

I looked at ticket prices for the show in Loveland, Colorado (about an hour north of Denver) - tickets seem to be 165-1200 per seat. I'm expecting there will be cheaper seats available as we get closer to the show. Scalpers might get scalped on this one. (On the other hand, that arena is not that big and the sight lines tend to be fabulous.)

It's insane because I'm trying to sell my parents' tickets but Ticketmaster is only allowing me to sell them for $30 each. They're front row.
Dynamic ticket pricing at its worst. I'm guessing there must be a lot of availability still at the show you're attending.

I’m not sure, I haven’t looked. Greensboro. I’m trying to sell through StubHub and I’m trying to sell my ticket as well because I caught a Gastro bug. Mr Lanie and Mini are going to try to go tonight. I thought I was on the mend, but I’m still not 100% today. Ugh! I don’t wanna get anybody sick.

Oh, for sure Greensboro is one of the venues with the most availability from what I saw when I was looking earlier this week.

Hope you get well soon.

It seems that Chan and Howe must have changed their plans to do the tour relatively last minute because their names are on the SOI merch:

That's a bummer for you. Maybe your husband can sell them outside the show. And if the don't sell, just make someone's day by giving them better seats for free. Or maybe your kid has a friend who wants to go?

i went to the show in Greensboro last night and my husband agreed to come along. Even he enjoyed the show. I thought it was fantastic! We gave the skaters a standing O that lasted a while after their last bow. They seemed to be surprised and appreciated our appreciation of them. Sad to see them step out of the rink. Wish there was another show close by.

Any reports on the Halifax CSOI show?
The show was one of the better ones in recent memory. There was a lot more thought put into the group numbers than there’s been in quite some time.

G/P did only maybe 30 seconds or so of Vincent, which I was a bit disappointed by, but it was still a nice moment. Their Royals program is very cute and well done.

The Golden number was done by Madeline, Lia and Piper and they did it very well. That’s not easy choreo to synchronize. The men could take some pointers from them on being in sync during the group bits :p. Piper did the prettiest spiral in this number and I wondered why they’ve never highlighted this in a program before. She also did an pretty awesome Y spin in this program.

Elvis still has impeccable 2A technique. His second program to The Sound of Silence is a good fit for him.

I could watch Roman skate all day. Fantastic addition and he was a standout in the group pieces. He does backflips now too.

I thought Maddie’s Where the Hell is my Husband was a good fit for her and the inflatable ring bit was cute.

I really enjoyed Lia and Trennt as well. They are one of the few pairs who do have a natural connection on the ice, and it makes them stand out. They are good show skaters.

I really liked Deanna and Max’s When a Man Loves a Woman, but the first number not a much. I couldn’t get visions of Petrenko in 92 skating to Let’s Twist Again out of my head. They looked very healthy and happy though and that was great.

Kaetlyn was also looking stronger than in many many years. Kind of ambitious to put so many jumps in her program, but she has put in a lot of work to get back to this level the audience really liked her. She still has excellent basic skating and is an engaging performer.

I enjoyed Keegan too. I know this kind of skating isn’t for everyone, but it is so important to have him there for the casual fan. The speed is really incredible.

All in all, very good show and I’m sure some of the group choreo will tighten up as they get some more under their belt. This was a much more ambitious show in terms of choreography than I’ve seen in a long time. More of this please.

i went to one of the recent shows-- my first time ever seeing stars on ice. i prefer what i saw of ice dance international earlier this year, which is to say that i prefer that style of show skating where there is a kind of thematic cohesion between programs and they have the time to choreograph group numbers so that there is more interplay between the skaters throughout the program rather than the skaters mostly just doing line dance style choreography (all the skaters mostly doing the same steps side by side each other, rarely touching)

that said, we enjoyed our evening at the show. biggest take aways:

* of the current cast for the u.s. tour, jason brown is far and away the skater with the best fundamental skating skills. he gets so far down into his knees, much further than either of the the two ice dance teams. he was the fastest skater (he was flying!) and probably had the best ice coverage but hard to tell for sure since one of his programs had lots of props/furniture and generally i think show programs aren't choreographed to display ice coverage.

in the group numbers, you could tell that he was having to slow down to stay in line/formation with the other skaters. he was constantly looking behind him/over his shoulder to check where the others were.

before seeing him on this tour (which was my first time seeing him skate live), i wasn't necessarily a fan. i've always recognized his high skill level, his creative programs, his flexibility, his musicality, etc but i was never really drawn to him in the same way i have been to other skaters. but seeing him back to back with other top american skaters (including world and olympic champions), it was hard not to be awed by his superior skill level. and he's quite a showman, to boot! a real natural charisma which i appreciated.

eta: his spins were also tops in this field-- speed, centering, positions. alysa's spins are also very good, but jason's were another level. but also shout out to amber's scratch spin at the end of her program in the black suit.

* the youngest audience members really really love ilia/alysa/isabeau/amber. they seemed to give these four the biggest screams, shouted out their names often ("i love you ilia!!!" "i love you alysa!!!"), enthusiastically danced along to their program music, etc. it was charming to see that level of fandom among the little people.

* i have a soft spot for madi and evan even though i haven't been a huge fan of their competitive programs other than their first fd under i.am (the one with the gold dress... fever?) and the alien program but only for their innovativeness for this team. they just seem too down to earth and too freaking kind to actively root against them. anyway, it was a bummer to see the infamous no-travel/spinning in place twizzle sequence when they performed their fd in this show. this was my first time seeing them perform one of their competitive programs, and i could see the lack of ice coverage in the twizzles in the skating session vids but like, you didn't need multiple replays to see it in real life.

the matador & bull program just looked slow; it seemed to take a lot of labor to get from one side of the rink to the other. but in their exhibition program, she especially was very elegant and light. her arm movements were gorgeous and he presented her so well.

* it was hilarious when ilia's second program music suddenly switched to house of pain's jump around and he just kept doing backflips 🤣

* ellie kam is the most courageous skater on the tour. pairs girls and women need more recognition in the sport for what they're actually accomplishing/being put through out on the ice. i could never.

* this group of skaters seem to really like each other a lot and look like they're really having a blast just skating together. i'm becoming more and more disenchanted with skating as a sport and am thinking about spending less time/energy in keeping up with the competitive aspects as i have been for many years. hearing so many skaters talk about the various forms of abuse (physical, psychological, body-image wise, etc) they endure daily just to skate has turned me off.

i'm glad that the skaters get to have these avenues of skating for audiences outside of competition, though i realize its all the hard work of training for competitions that allows them the opportunity to skate in shows like these. but as an audience member, i think i prefer these freer, lower-stakes spaces than competitive ones and i think i'll divert more of my time thus.
