It has been 25 years since the movie Schindler's List was released. In its honor here are some of the well known skates performed to this music.

I was too :shuffle: posting Schott after the big names above.
But you opened the door with Dodds :respec:

Well, I figure it shouldn't matter if it's a big name skater or not - if it's beautiful, it's still beautiful regardless. And Andrew remains our silver medallist and (according to the AusNats judges, and I think they got it right) this free skate outscored Brendan's on PCS.

I think Julia is definitive.

Interview with Spielberg
One of the surprising things in the interview is that Spielberg says he didn’t expect the movie to be a hit. Perhaps that’s understandable in some regard. It’s a 3 hour and 16 minute black-and-white movie about the Holocaust, and that has never translated to box office success. And yet I think Spielberg approached the film with a commercial eye, not trying to soften the Holocaust, but rather using his pedigree combined with a simple narrative (the transformation of Oskar Schindler from cold-hearted industrialist to savior of over 1,000 Jews) to make something far more accessible about the Holocaust than something like the 9.5-hour documentary Shoah.

I remember sitting in the theatre at the end of the movie with tears streaming. Totally quiet in the theatre, and all I wanted to do was say "Thank you Mr. Spielberg". You have created a miracle.

Schindler's List programs need to go away. I'm really over skaters who want a crutch to convey seriousness and think it allows them to make some kind of profound statement (or trying some shock value crap like I/K did). I am also over Galit Chait forcing it on every Israeli skater in existence.

I did like Jonathan Cassar's program, though.

If Carmen is still around, I see no reason to dump SL. It is beautiful music, and not just for skating.

I think when you are young and discover something for the first time, it feels new and fresh to you. A lot of these skaters don't necessarily have the associations with the music that fans who have been watching skating for literally decades do. A 15 year old could be hearing Carmen or Schindler's List for the first time and be genuinely moved by it and feel driven to skate to it.

Carmen is just overused skating music. Schindler's List is not just another warhorse; it's a movie about the Holocaust - a tragedy of unimaginable proportions. These programs may be well-intentioned (I know Guignard/Fabbri's FD was), but I've had enough of skaters using that particular score to make themselves seem serious and artistic. To me, it trivializes the subject matter.

Andrew Dodd's program at Australian Nationals was stunning. Beautiful choreography and skating.
