Skate to Milano OWG Qualifier - Beijing CHN - Ice Dance RD & FD

First part of the program was really quite lovely, but they ran out of steam around the time of the pair dance spin.

That was quite lovely for Kazakova/Kasinskij. Mark's wrong, though, since their first competition together was actually Lombardia last week. If the TES holds they'll JUST get the Euros CTES mins - nearly 9 point increase in their CTES from last week to this one, which is encouraging.

ETA - TES dropped about 2 points, so they're still a little short of the Euros CTES, but I don't doubt they'll get it at Trialeti Trophy in a few weeks.

Quality skaters, and a lovely speed, and glide, but the program didn't engage me. A new team, and just starting out so hopefully they will find material in the future that does more to bring out personality, and performance.

89.25 = 1st Place
148.78 = 1st Place

"Skating to the lovely Gladiator soundtrack," says Mark, and I fling myself out the window.
Wait, say it ain't so. An Italian ice dance team skating to the Gladiator soundtrack while hoping for a 2nd Italian Olympic ice dance berth. Because that's not at all predictable... :rofl:

This is one soundtrack I will never ever tire of.

And I remember the first time I heard it was the finale of the very first Amazing Race, and being a 15 year old trying to scour the internet to find out what it was called.

Well at least the baby Italian's weren't boring. But I think the Georgian's had much better connection and presentation, even if the tech level was minimally lower.

This program was pretty generic as if it were a choreograph by numbers free dance purchased at a craft store. They skated it very well, and the expression was good.

Well, that's another program I really enjoyed. Not a style I would have expected out of the Cypriots at all, but I like it!

A enjoyable performance, but again many of the elements were rather generic. The final spinning movement was an exception where they hit a unique position.

You would think doing a jazzy blues number they could find more opportunities to utilize some holds in the midnight blues pattern for at least a bit.

I liked some of Kud/Kar's FD. I thought it was kind of bland at the beginning, but it got better as the music picked up.
