Skate to Milano OWG Qualifier - Beijing CHN - Ice Dance RD & FD

I feel like we're going to see some generous scoring here in these last two groups. Last season RD SBs from the teams remaining:

Reed/Ambrulevicius 78.67
Ignateva/Szemko 71.75
Harris/Chan 70.84
Soucisse/Firus 69.52
Yoshida/Morita 68.94
Reitan/Majorov 66.87
Val/Kazimov 66.67
Paolino/Tuba 66.19
Pinchuk/Pogorielov 65.93
Dovhal/Kulesza 57.94

And as a reminder, Soucisse and Firus are not eligible for one of the spots. And I don't think Ireland has another team secretly in waiting.

Well, that was fantastic from Milla & Nikolaj!

Honestly, why didn't the IDTC just give us a Latin RD again rather than this '90s mishmash?

Mila’s dress looks very Chique Sport.

Smooth and fast skating. Slowing it down for the pattern dance step and getting the turns called. I didn’t love the programme but their skating is very exciting. Should go shooting into the lead, as Chris Howarth would say.

Milla Ruud Reitan/Nikolaj Majorov 🇸🇪
Coach: Rostislav Sinicyn, Natalia Karamysheva
Music: Living la Vida Loca, La Copa de la Vida

Sequential Twizzles W:4 M:4
Diagonal Step Sequence W:1 M:1
Pattern Dance Type Step Sequence 3
Choreo Rhythm Sequence

Rotational Lift 4

I'm a big fan of this team. Nikolaj looking better, and better in ice dance, and physically even looks more like an leading male ice dancer now. Strong performance from both skaters.

69.30 = 1st Place

Paolino/Tuba's costume color - the deep wine purple - very '90s coded. I approve.

Giulia Isabella Paolino/Andrea Tuba 🇮🇹
Coach: V. Rizzo, B. Bianchi, S. De Luca
Music: Thunder, Daddy Pop

Sequential Twizzles W:4 M:4
Pattern Dance Type Step Sequence 1 (B after review)
Midline Step Sequence W:3 M:2 (W:2 M:2 after review)

Rotational Lift 4
Choreo Rhythm Sequence

Some tightness in the performance, particularly early on.

60.04 = 5th Place

I do think P&T look good this season. This is a huge ask, but for their own growth as a team, this is a nice step up for them.

SK Ice Dance pulling in some GOE for their top team!

Also, our 4th Latin RD and we're only 12 teams in.

So probably unpopular opinion but there was massive distance between them in all holds, they were tentative, the levels were abysmal, and they just didn't look comfortable at all. I thought they could be in the running for a spot and they may still be but I didn't think this was performed well at all.

Agreed. They definitely looked tight and there were some noticeable spots where they looked a bit clunky and reaching for each other.

yeah I thought they looked rough compared to some other teams but the power of ricky martin compels the judges or something idk

Vibes to the rescue.
