Skate Canada International (SCI) 2020 to be held in Ottawa

I have all my skating trips categorized by "that time when...."

Examples: "that time when we had free porn", "that time when the faucet broke in the bathroom of our hotel room and spurted water on the ceiling", "that time when I thought I ordered a glass of wine but ordered a bottle." :lol:

Good times....

That time when:

-I went into Sports Books in Vancouver and bought out the entire store.
-I overdosed on Tim Hortons and went into sugar shock.
-I accidentally jammed my combination padlock at a youth hostel, and had to take the entire door off my locker.

"That time when" could be an entire thread on its own!

Yes for sure!

"That time when at a skating competition..." would be an awesome thread. :cheer2:

Yay for Ottawa! @fan and I are planning to go. Driving distance before the weather gets too iffy and lots of family to stay with. Our 2 biggest provinces are definitely being spoiled with events next year. We’re gonna be able to attend Nationals, Worlds and Skate Canada International next year!! 😍

Hmmm...I should go to this. Nice leisurely train ride, the weather will likely still be decent, will only have to book a couple of days off work, cool FSUers are going....

Hmmm not sure if i will take the train or drive?

I am pretty sure I will go now too, I will begin the week in Toronto and drive to Ottawa. Any interesting stops along the way?

Thousand Islands area (near Kingston) should be really pretty if the leaves hold on til then. And yes, Kingston restaurants are good. I ate VERY well at nationals in Kingston a few years back.

I really enjoyed seeing Nationals in 2017 at TD place as it's a nice arena and a little more intimate than Canadian Tire Center in Kanata. I would suggest that if you are driving, to buy a parking pass for the weekend. I didn't buy one for Nationals and could not find parking on the Saturday so I drove to Orleans to meet my friend who was also going and we just took an uber from her place for $20.

Really happy about this. Ottawa is one of my fave Canadian cities to grab a weekend and I rarely have an excuse. I'll go to this for sure.

Kingston, ON is a nice place to stop for an evening/overnight. It has a pretty waterfront and lots of great restaurants downtown.

Any idea on when SC 2020 all-events tickets might go on sale?

Is the arena downtown or outside of it in Kanata?
It's the old civic centre - which is south of the downtown core.

Yeah, it's in The Glebe, if you're familiar with Ottawa's neighbourhoods.

I guess we'll have to wait & see.

Everything is in a state of flux right now because of the coronavirus and the cancellation of so many events.

Hopefully the health crisis will have improved by the time October comes around.
