Most of the hotels in the downtown core of Halifax are within a 5-10 minute walk.

The closest ones are (connected by pedway) are:

Prince George
Barrington Hotel
Halifax Hotel
Marriott Waterfront

There is also a Hampton Inn and Marriott Residence Inn that are close by.

Four Points Sheraton and Marriott Courtyard are about a 7 minute walk.

Westin is further away 15 minute walk and I don’t recommend that hotel. I’m shocked it’s still a Westin.

Hotels on Spring Garden Road are about a 15-20 minute walk.

Thank you!! I will research. I'm trying to convince a friend to come with me. She's not a skating fan so my angle is all the lobster she can consume is at her fingertips. :)

I would just add to @skategal 's fine recommendations that late October in Halifax can be very cold, wet, and windy. So, depending on the weather, even a short walk can seem like a very long one. Also, the arena is near the top of the hill that downtown Halifax is built around. If you have mobility issues or have problems walking up hills, you might want to take a cab or public transit from your hotel.

Yep Barrington Street is basically a wind tunnel.

End of October weather is hard to predict. Sometimes rainy, sometimes cold, sometimes really nice.

Check the forecast before you come and pack accordingly.

So day tickets are $36 and the all event was $280? Feeling pretty swindled by Skate Canada right now
Are you looking at the equivalent seating when you are comparing prices?

According to the original information:
All-event tickets will be priced at P1: $280, P2: $240, P3: $180, P4: $100.

The single session tickets, of which you would need 5 to attend everything, range in price from $36 (P4) to $93.50 (P1). That would be $180 to $467.50 to attend all 5 sessions of the event. Of course, all tickets also have fees, etc. on top of that.

Skate Canada is running tv commercials on TLC (in Canada) advertising SCI in Halifax. I did a double take thinking maybe I’m on YouTube. Nope.

Was it a fever dream or has anyone else seen it? Am I the only person left who watches cable tv, on tv?

DH isn’t going to Egypt, so I could have gone to Halifax. 😢

It’s not too late! Come on over. :40beers:

There are still rooms at the Moxy hotel for decent rates (It’s a Marriott chain so you get your points too.)
I’d love to, but new phone, new roof, and something else has just come up.

I ordered physical tickets and haven't gotten them yet. A week or so ago I called the box office and asked if there was an update on that and they said the people running the event hadn't released the tickets yet, supposedly to do with finalizing details or something.

I've seen a lot of Skate Canada commercials on CNN (of all places!) lately. Hoping for a good crowd!

Just FYI….I’ve been hearing that some of the hotels near the ScotiaBank Centre have been giving out white noise machines to guests because the street (party) noise has been so loud on weekends.

I hope this is just a “Back to University” issue that will die down by late October as I also booked a room for myself to stay downtown Sat night despite living near Halifax.

But thought I should mention it here in case folks want to plan accordingly or change their plans.

Maybe check TripAdvisor reviews for your hotel leading up to the event for the most up to date experiences.

No I see the tickets online but there are 2 women's SP.
One of them must be men's SP. 😂

I don't remember physical tickets being an option when I ordered mine. (Doesn't mean it wasn't offered, I just don't recall it) I wonder if they'd print me tickets at the box office?
I can't speak for them but certainly I have done that at the box office for Stars on Ice and at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
