What I think is interesting about this choice is that Maia will be the star. The song is all about "her." That will be different from their usual equal-sibling roles. It could be a breakout for them in another way. It's a risk and, if they pull it off, a big step forward for Maia and for them as a team. Without being in love with the music, I'm excited to see what they're going to do with it.

Yes, in fact it's the only thing that worries me a bit, that the song is totally about her, anyway, in my opinion Maia has been the star of the team in the last two seasons :D.

Paradise is the kind of mainstream music that's designed to make the audience feel good and connected with whatever is in front of them. In other words, perfect Olympic music.

I wonder why they work so late for the programs? is it because they want the ice just for them? or because Peter needs leave soon? probably many skaters do the same, but 4am, 5am? seriously? although they did the same with Hokuto. Anyway they don´t complain about it, they seem so excited :rollin:.

Thought it'd be nice to revisit their senior Nationals debut at 2011 Nationals:

I think they gave the best performances of that season at 2011 Nationals. There was a sense that the commentators and audience were realizing they were witnessing something special. This competition seemed to be where the Shibs pulled ahead of similarly-situated teams (and were able to take advantage of Samuelson/Bates not being there that season) to be a clear U.S. no. 2 which lead to their subsequent success at 2011 4CC and Worlds. IMO, this competition was a real turning point in their career.

Awesome news for the Shibs!

The 46 new members are joining the 53 members already named:

https://la24.org/team

So the Shibs, Michelle Kwan, and Tara Lipinski are the only figure skaters named so far. No bad company at all.

They are the only active skaters, I hope this does not consume much time, I suppose their function will only be to promote it in social media

this reminded me their work as sports envoys in Korea, I wonder if the video was in the lost camera :wuzrobbed. Sorry, I can not get over it.

Wow, it's amazing how much they've grown artistically in the past couple of years. Maia especially is an entirely different performer than she was then. Even if I haven't been crazy about specific programs (their FD last season for instance), their improvement year to year in this past quad has been so impressive.

I know there have been many examples of skaters who had performance quality since they were young, but there others who grow and mature into it. I think Maia definitely is one who needed to grow and find her voice. I still think she's finding it but I'm enjoying seeing her blossom every season. Even comparing their Paso Doble SD, which people really liked that season because it was considered an improvement, to now, there's a world of difference with Maia. She's been in the international scene for so long that I forget how young she is, I mean she's the less than a year older than Michael Parsons. She's definitely grown so much in performance and technical ability. It's like you said, you may not actually like their programs now, but you know it's theirs and they own it. That's definitely something they didn't have quite as much of before.

I was about to post that video, and didn't realize you posted it already this morning. Nice to see Maia let her hair down and get down and dirty with Arden Cho with some crabs.

Maia managed to eat with style, I would have made a complete disaster. All fans of the Shibs should follow Arden, she definitely seems the third Shibsib, she almost promotes them more than they do themselves .
I loved this part https://twitter.com/MaiaShibutani/status/865713567701585920 Arden was teaching her, but Maia seemed an expert. Look at their surprised faces:rofl:

Yikes! Quickly skimmed this and all I saw was "Maia," "hair," "dirty," "crabs," and almost passed out. :p

omg!

I can´t sleep and the Shibs just made a live instagram, 3:00 am, they are in the rink in Canton , alone. Probably that rink is a very safe place, but I would be afraid to stay alone there at night, sorry, I've been watching too much Investigation Discovery lately :sekret::shuffle:.
I hope they do not drive sleepy.

ETA 1. Confirmed, they got Skate America :cheer2: and Rostelecom cup :wuzrobbed http://static.isu.org/media/516610/gp_icedance.pdf
