Kim Navarro posted on her FB page earlier this week that she was 4 months pregnant when this show taped!!!! Huge congrats to her!

And if I'm not mistaken, Naomi Lang was a few WEEKS postpartum during taping. They both look amazing!!!

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this show on TV. They actually focused on the skaters and dancers. Good call. Well rounded cast, but I missed Peter.

I enjoyed the skating and the Goo Goo Dolls were great. But I really hope that next year Disson takes advantage of the post Olympic spike in skating interest and lays out some extra $$ on the cast and choreography like they did after Sochi. That was an incredible show.

Who knew it was possible to miss Michael Weiss?

Peter apparently had some sort of family emergency that made it necessary for him to go back to Russia for awhile -- Naomi posted this on her Facebook page well before the date of the show's taping, on November 28th, 2016:

Due to a family emergency Peter Tchernyshev will not be able to make Shall We Dance on Ice this year but luckily Todd Gilles has stepped in and we will be my partner for the show. Today was our first day practicing and stroking. thank you Todd for holding me up #goodtobeback #threeweeksafterbaby

The show was taped on December 11th -- On December 13th, Naomi posted a video of Peter and a bunch of their Russian skater friends wishing Naomi luck (which I would have posted but I'm not a friend of hers on Facebook)

Todd Gilles is the new Dance Director at the Ice Den in AZ. He works with Naomi Lang at both the Scottsdale and Chandler facilities - thus it was he whom she chose to pinch hit for Peter T. They did a great job. Naomi had just had her fourth child a month before, and he was new to the partnership. I usually don't like ice skating shows with live entertainers, but the camera coverage of the ice and stage dancers was excellent. Although, seeing it live was even better. I hope Disson keeps doing this one - next year AFTER the Olys.

So sorry to hear that..Condolences to the Tchernyshev family -- Todd did a GREAT job stepping in, and I really found the whole show to be enjoyable viewing (and I had sworn off watching these shows en masse ever again because they tend to get repetitive after awhile)..

Is there really lack of ice-dancers willing to participate in the show that they had to ask obscure teams like the Danish team to be in the show? Or did they have a low budget so that is why they can't invite the more prominent teams or did having Davis/White on the show eat up the majority of the budget?

It was filmed the same weekend as the GPF - better known teams were either competing or prepping for nationals.

Perhaps it is just me, but I find that international teams (or skaters) add rather than detract from the shows. They bring a different flavor that I find refreshing. JMHO

I love watching the Danes more than watching some of the top teams. And they were so friendly and happy to be in the show!

The invited skaters were a mix of former and current competitors. Laurence and Nick held their own and fit right in with the groups. I found it exciting and refreshing to see new faces including the Israelis. Personally this jam-packed show is the best of the Disson Productions.
