Savchenko/Massot Fan Thread

Piffle. DuhRad's tiny jumps. :drama: I want to see daylight beneath her feet. I want to clutch my pearls while waiting for her to come back down to the ice. I want drama. I want Savchenko to :kickass: this season while Bruno holds her coat for her.

:encore: :kickass:

I want Tarasova to start grunting and screaming everytime that they jump. I want Bruno to sob like a little girl when they're done because they skated so well, but still like a :smokin: sexy man. I want Aljona to roll her eyes at him (mid-sob) and then start saluting the crowd like Daniel Samohin at the end of his Scorpions SP (at the Olympics). :rockstar:

Wait, WHAT. :swoon: that is so beautiful.

They are completely incapable of making me unhappy. :cheer: :rockstar:

ETA: the full song is a little slow, if they mix it with another song (like P&C with 'Rain in Your Black Eyes') then they'll be good.

Man, Aljona is really spoiling us this off-season. Hopefully, they will be at Nebelhorn, so we don`t have to wait so long to see them back. Besides, it would also help their World Ranking, thus giving them a better starting order in their GP assignments.

Aliona and Bruno are blowing me away. I remember at first being on the " they need Ingo" bandwagon or some other "reputable" coach but things are looking wonderful for them. I'm a bit on team " how bout those throw jumps?" but all in all, they're a magnificent pair. They are taking a Papadakin/Cizeron approach from the standpoint of moving unlike any other team. They're recklessly amazing. They are trying to be the perfect marriage of athleticism and art..beautiful art. I love it. Teams always talk about creativity and thinking outside of the box, but then display something that looks like normal plain old skating. Not these two. It's refreshing and amazing to see.

I hope that Axel stays on the drafting table until it's perfected although I know it's Aliona's dream to land that sucker which I hope she does. When was the last time the pair's field was this deep? When was the last time the Russian's were this good but not good enough to be on the podium? WOW

And yet some disgruntled negative naysayer peeps are calling this the "dark days" of pairs fs (albeit in the separate Pairs discussion Trash Can thread). Trolling with their knickers in a twist over hatin' on D/R, and on Meagan in particular. I say, bring on the new season and let all the "dark days" teams battle it out. A Battle Royale in lead-up to 2018 Olympics!

Aliona and Bruno are taking no prisoners and clearly have their eyes set on Victory! The best thing about it is that Aliona seemingly and admittedly is more relaxed and having more fun. Although I still feel that jockeying for position among the top pairs will continue well into the 2017 - 2018 season.

May the best team who can bring it in the big moment, win!

I've been listening to this music on repeat, it's gorgeous and this lift dismount is perfect for the mood. I think they could be the new P/C for pairs as they seem to want to make the transitions between elements seamless. If they can maintain his level throughout the whole LP then :cheer2:

I was going to say the new p/c for pairs but people usually are so anal I was afraid they wouldn't understand what I meant since they have not won a world title yet.

That recent triple axel looks absolutely effortless and better than any other throw they've had. They win the off-season IMO, no competition for it either. :encore:Sounds like they'll be showing something else that's new soon.. (It'll be a quad salchow lol)

They're putting their hearts into this, I'm more and more stunned. The OGM is seriously possible, I mean that is  so cool.

I don't think the Russian's took last season serious. Now, they've GOT to be scrambling given that The Canadians winning was no fluke, the Chinese are here to stay but the German's have what it takes to edge them out.

My only concerns are the throws being landed cleanly and increased SBSjump difficulty. Everything else looks sublime. Aliona IS pairs skating

I have to agree, but I don't think the Russians will be able to keep up with them if they skate well. A lot of the Russian pairs put the majority of their motivation into the Sochi Olys, while last years world podium has enough motivation to win all of the medals in the 2018 men's and ice dance competitions (let alone pairs). I love the Russian pairs very much, it's a dilemma but Aljona is pairs skating.

The difficult entry into the lift looks like something Virtue/Moir have done before. Obviously V/M's is lower because of pair strength + overhead lifts.

I think you are right about this @Karpenko. The Russian pairs just haven't been the same since Sochi, especially V/T and S/K. Both have pretty obviously struggled with motivation at times since Sochi (not all the time, but definitely some of it). And Max's lackluster effort at Worlds this year was just weird. How can you be such a top competitor and skate like you don't even care??

Since Sochi the Russian team I`ve enjoyed the most is Kavaguti/Smirnov. Their motivation seems to be still there. :)

Anyway, I hope Aljona will finally get her OGM. If Bruno and Aljona manage to show the quality of their elements, we could see some insane high scores from them.
Will Bruno actually have German citizenship by 2018? I didn't think it could happen that fast. Or can it?

My take is they have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain by going for broke. They won't hold back. She knows this is it. Bruno is bigger than Robin and they can do things S/S never could so they are going to go for bigger and better elements. I cannot wait for the season to start.

Caruso first teamed up with Kolbe in 2010 and got his citizenship in time for the 2014 Olympics. Like Caruso, Bruno is a citizen of an EU country, so his path is easier than it was for Nelli Zhiganshina.

I'm genuinely impressed with how great of a job Bruno is doing. Based on what I've seen so far, his expressiveness and emotion really comes through when he's skating. And to keep up with such a rock star like Aljona is very impressive!

I agree! There's no gap! I also like that he complements her, not accompanies her. He belongs there. I've never heard anyone complain about him the way people discredit Gabriella Papadakis. Even if they did, they would be sadly mistaken. He's so technically proficient. He does difficult combinations, AND it was the goddess herself who messed up no the SBS sal, not him. He's like a modern Artur Dmitriev in the strength department. Aliona would never trust him if he werent reliable. You can just HEAR him grip the ice with his blades when he catches her from the stratosphere on that lift. It's remarkable and completely captivating.

Aliona is such a metaphor for so many awesome things. Bruno is as well. Again, I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GLAD they did not go the route of a well known coach and choreographer. There has not been true innovation in pairs since Moskvina.
