Gear from the canceled 2020 World Championships is on sale at a good discount here: https://worlds-figure-skating.myshopify.com/ . The Canadian dollar is currently worth $0.74 US.

The FAQs indicate they will ship to Canada, the US and Japan; folks living in other countries will need to email for a shipping quote. I fear the shipping cost will wipe out most of the discount on orders from outside Canada, but I haven't done a test purchase to confirm that.

They are giving away the program with all orders of at least $50 (Canadian).

This kind of thing tends to be very collectable, in later years.

Also, glad they didn't hold it and cause loads of deaths, while selling this shirt.

I'm kind of surprised the gear wasn't donated to charity for a tax credit. IIRC that's what happens to the "Super Bowl Champion" gear with the logo of the team that loses  Or maybe there's a LOT of gear to clear out.....

I don't know that a tax-deduction would be worthwhile if the organizing committee was formed for the specific purpose of running 2020 Worlds. In that case, there probably wouldn't be any net income to offset. Just speculating here, because I know nothing about Canadian tax law.

The 2003 Dallas US Nationals was lightly attended. Those folks got stuck with a large amount of merchandise. They discounted it and sold it online.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if they will lower the prices later because the original prices were ridiculous. It reminds me of when my skating club had tons of jackets and blankets leftover after a competition. After a few months of trying to sell jackets for $10, I wanted to give it away for free to clear out my living room.

Thanks for the heads up - I tried buying something but it told me:

Shipping method
Some items in your cart don’t ship to your location. Contact the store for more information.

We don’t offer shipping to United States.

Is anybody else having this problem? I don't know if it's because I live in Hawai'i, but Iʻll send them an email.

Yes, and I emailed Rose (contact is in email) on Friday and she said she would order my items and give me the shipping cost on Monday.

The US Postal Service charges the same rate for any Zone 8 destination, so Hawaii and Alaska are no more costly from the East Coast than California. I don't think private shipping companies adhere to that rule, because it actually costs a great deal more money to get something all the way to the non-contiguous states.

Perhaps these goods are being shipped via commercial carrier rather than Canada Post.

I bought a pin for $4 ... and $16 shipping to the U.S. Oh well, it's still far less than I would've spent if I had actually been able to go to Montreal.

Shipping anything internationally from Canada is ridiculously expensive. But if it is something small like a pin and you're OK with it being sent by regular Canada Post mail (I.e. not tracked or insured) it may be possible to send it for less.

I ordered a couple of things (the red tumbler, a pin, and the zipper pull) and the costs came down a bit when I saw the conversion to US dollars. I think it was nice of them to put the items out there for the fans to order. We were going to attend Worlds but decided against it with our other plans for the year....in retrospect, that was a good decision on our part. :yikes:

Thanks @DobrinFan ! I emailed Rose as well - I hope the items I wanted are still available!

She sent me an email today saying they will update their website by the end of the day and I should be able to order everything myself ?‍♀️

ETA: It works now. I can order all my items online.

Items were $146 CAD, shipping $33.58 CAD to US.

Now if they'll just shave off a few more bucks... ? :p
