The Ascot event is a royal tradition I kind of don't get. None of them ever really look like they;re enjoying themselves and it honestly seems exactly like that scene in My Fair Lady where ladies in huge hats are making "small talk" with each other. Only Zara and Anne are into horse racing and horses. The others aren't at all. William in particular looked really bored.

With that being said I liked Kate's blue dress with the exception of the big pussy bow. It just was one more layer of fuss in a dress that already had a lot going on.

Did you even look at any of the pictures of the event as in nearly all of them the royals are laughing and clearly having fun - heck I even labelled the link I posted 'Royals having fun' for that reason. William is most certainly amongst those having a good time.

And to be honest Zara and Anne are more into 3 day eventing rather than horse racing persay. The Queen is a noted race horse owner and breeder and has had many winners as had her Mother before her as well as her Grandfather. In fact in 2014 the Queen was due to award the winner of the blue ribbon race of the Ascot meet with the Gold Cup - but as her horse - Estimate - famously won it her son - the Duke of York - had to be quickly roped in to make the presentation. See the Queens delight with that win here:

William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan to split charity foundation. It will now be the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Sussexes are expected to form their own by the end of the year.

I always wondered why the added Meghan to this foundation. The time to split would have been when Harry got married. It would have seemed natural then and certainly makes sense given that Harry and Meghan may want to focus on different things. Now it fuels the feud rumours.

I expect that things did not go as expected amongst the 4. Meghan apparantly has still not learned her place, and I am sure Harry fights for her. I don't mean that in a bad way, but her place is behind Kate and the children, always. I am sure that is hard for her to take. The sooner she accepts that, the happier she (and everyone else will be).

Why is everyone assuming that the split was due to problems in the relationships between the foursome? It may well be that the split was due to Harry being so far down in the line of succession that he (and Meaghan) can take a charitable foundation down paths that might not be suitable for a future monarch (for example, more climate change activism might have some political implications that would limit William's involvement)

Well, the charity was started in 2009 by Harry and William. At the outset there would have been a vision and goals. What you say may well be true, however it does fit in with a pattern of behaviors that denote conflict.

On another note: Does anyone know what happens to Camilla when Charles is crowned. At the outset, it was said she would never be queen? I believe she was to be known as Princess Consort. However, Clarence House removed

Hello Magazine? Newspaper (I have no idea if this is a reliable source, but it squares with much of what I have read.

Until now, the Duchess of Cornwall's future title should Prince Charles become King was to be Princess Consort. However, a revamp of the Clarence House website has seen statements featuring the title removed, fuelling speculation that Camilla may in fact be given the title of Queen. The name Princess Consort was decided on back in 2005 when Charles and Camilla married, but now this title has disappeared from the website's biography and frequently asked questions section.

According to The Sun, the FAQ section had read: "Will the Duchess become Queen when The Prince becomes King?" As was explained at the time of their wedding in April 2005, it is intended that The Duchess will be known as HRH The Princess Consort when The Prince of Wales accedes to The Throne."

2009 was a long time ago. William and Harry now are married with their own families and diverging roles within the royal family. But as a business move it might make more sense. Two separate charities with different focuses = bigger pool of donors who can pick and choose th e causes they wish to support.

Especially this! After all, in 2009, neither had legitimate children, keeping Harry in the second generation of succession -- after Charles and William -- but now, Harry is behind a third generation in the line of succession. A

Exactly. It was different when it was three young people wanting do to something but seeing that they could have more impact together. All of them (well maybe not Meghan yet, but it will come) have so many patronages, so many causes that interest them that to have one foundation trying to do it all means less opportunity for real impact.

By splitting, they can each focus on what means the most to them rather than making collective decisions, as someone said the Sussexes might have a bit more latitude (then again, the way they have all supported mental health issues is already quite forward thinking, but anyway), and eventually they can involve their children too, make they true family foundations.

The only downside I see is double the infrastructure - staffing and expenses - which takes away from dollars going straight to charity.

Of course, all this is speculation. Maybe it has been all :argue::wuzrobbed:revenge::drama::angryfire:wall: and the Queen herself had demanded that they take their respective toys to their own corners and behave. ;)

AWESOME day at Ascot today and Frankie Dettori has been amazing winning 4/5 races including the Gold Cup so far. One race to go but pleasure doing business with Frankie so far today as I’m £160 ish up from some small bets I placed at decent odds this morning. 😍😍😍

They all look like they are having a great time. Zara and Eugenie both look fabulous in their jewel tone outfits. They both have such amazing skin (as do Anne and the Queen!)

You don't know what genes William's kids carry. You only know what traits appear in them. And you know very little about Harry's son because 2 partial photos prove nothing esp at his age.

I didn't say I know what genes Charles' grandchildren carry. I pointed out the variety of traits I see in William's children, and I spoke briefly about what little we can see in baby Archie that physically resembles what we see in Meghan and Harry (as other posters have also spoken about in this thread, re their personal perceptions).

Plus, I also said @canbelto claiming that neither Harry's nor William's kids carry any Spencer genes can not be supported. Rushing to get on me about calling out canbelto is very selective and contradictory on your part. But what else is new(s). :drama: Pile-on continues as usual.

Meanwhile, looking back at Crown Princess Mary's and Crown Prince Frederik's delightful, unexpected romance:

Meghan apparantly has still not learned her place...

:wall: :p :watch:

Frankly, there's a lot going on in the British royal family right now of a transitional nature. I posted the documentary on the Queen's children earlier, which is an interesting look back. Royal family relationships and sibling rivalries and adjusting to new members of the family is nothing new. The attempt by some to make Meghan the villain is OTT, but par for the course.

The below interesting video shows some of the teasing sibling rivalry between Harry and William that has always existed, and that apparently sometimes extends into annoyance with each other. Whatever has been going on in recent months has a lot to do with the brothers' personal relationship dynamic (as many recent reports have indicated).

I really need a brain! I was talking to my daughter today, and wanted to tell her some tid-bit about Ascot, where we lived for a while. So I asked her if she remembered Ascot...............she started laughing.............Mom, I was born there (we left when she was 6 weeks old) and No, I don't remember anything.

More on the Danish royal family. Many of you are probably already familiar with a lot of these details, but I haven't closely followed other royal families of Europe, so it's interesting to me to learn more. I have of course heard about many of them, but have not followed them too closely:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzyF9sRrjTM (Kind of sad about Prince Henrik wanting to be called King, and feeling bitter about not being granted that title)

A little bit of Mary's and Frederik's wedding ceremony in 2004. Mary's parents are from Scotland originally, even though she was born in Australia. In the earlier video I posted re her engagement, she didn't appear to have much of an Australian accent.
It's interesting that Mary and Frederik met at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and married in 2004 when she was 32. She had her first two children at ages 34 and 36, and she gave birth to fraternal twins nearly 4 years later when she was a month shy of age 40.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm6LYIgXH2c Such a lovely speech by Crown Princess Mary in tribute to her husband apparently last year. Danish sounds like such a difficult language to learn, but by now Mary has a great grasp. There's lots of humor and poignancy in her remarks. It looks like their love story continues to blaze.

Other fascinating royal love stories:

Send her to the back of the bus! (and yes that is sarcasm)
