RIP Robert Redford

When films become touchstones for memories:

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; I saw it in my pajamas at a drive-in movie with my sister and my folks. I remember that my sister and I did not fall asleep. And we loved "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head."

The Sting: I went with my best friend. We were tweens. We didn't see the little surprise coming. We were delighted with this movie.

The Way We Were: Look he was a beautiful man. He took my breath away in that one.

All The President's Men: I was such a cynical teenager because of Viet Nam and Watergate. This remains one of my all time favorite films and I loved Redford and Dustin Hoffman in this.

Ordinary People: At the time I was moved by this film. I've haven't watched it as an adult.

There are so many other films in front of and behind the camera and Sundance and his conservation efforts. One of the greats.

I adored Robert Redford. What an amazing talent and such a handsome man - my goodness. :swoon:

My favourite of his movies is All the President's Men. I wore out a VHS copy from watching it so many times but I haven't seen it in years. Will definitely rewatch this week.

Probably my first big screen crush due to his Sundance character and to Downhill Racer. He was gorgeous. Loved him in so many other things, the last of which was Our Souls at Night. RIP to a beautiful and talented man.

He was such a great director as well as a movie star. And by all accounts a decent person too.
I was young when I saw "Ordinary People" and I remember how affected I was by it. Now, looking back, I admire his decision to cast America's sweetheart Mary Tyler Moore in one very unsympathetic role. And also Donald Sutherland as the gentle husband. He wasn't afraid to go against conventional wisdom.

My mom and I totally loved Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and the soundtrack from that movie, Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head. Come to think of it, I remember my dad loved it, too, and he was a diehard Clint Eastwood fan.

RIP, Robert Redford. You are a legend.

Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid - Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head (B.J. Thomas)

He narrated a sweet and funny interstitial segment for Turner Classic Movies about his friend Natalie Wood (they attended the same high school but became friends later through working together). They did 2 full films together ("This Property Is Condemned" and "Inside Daisy Clover") and she played his wife in a cameo role in his movie "The Candidate".

Actor, director, producer, humanitarian and visionary - a life well lived, and we are the better for it. RIP.

I feel like he deserves his own thread.

Yes he does.

One of the handsomest, charming, beloved actor.

I loved him in many of his movies. My favorite- Out of Africa. I even liked him as an old man turned thief/bank robber (I can’t remember the movie title).

RIP.
