His skits with Mel Brooks were so hysterical. And all the shows he wrote & produced kept us entertained since the 1950's. Thank God for youtube. So much of his genius has been saved there. He was a national treasure.

What a lovely story - and shows the calibre of all those men to call a fan like that. The picture at the end of the story which I've seen a few times with Carl and Mel and Mel's daughter taken a couple of days before Carl's death on Mel's birthday makes me smile amid tears. Mel must be heartbroken.
