You know I’d be the last person to defend the Argentinians but the Dutch weren’t saints either. I can’t recall the name of the players, but the last Argentinian penalty kicker got body checked by the previous Dutch kicker as he walked to the mark.

Can't believe FIFA doesn't require ambulances on site for any medical emergencies. This poor man was taken to hospital by an Uber.

They do.
The stadium I volunteered at in 2014 had an absolute bucketload of medical staff and ambulances on standby.
But this could also be something to do with local laws.

FIFA is rotten as an organization (as is the IOC), but the management at stadium level is top notch.

There’s got to be more to this story.

True, but there was also Paredes kicking the ball into the bench . How on earth he avoided a red card for that, I don't know.

I'm not sure whom I would even root for in that scenario. I like Messi a lot and would love to see him get this , but Argentina as a team I'm not a fan of.
I like France , especially Mbappe and Giroud , but they already won this 4 years ago. So there just really isn't that much at stake for me .

American soccer sportswriter Grant Wahl died of an aneurysm at the Qatar World Cup

Wahl, the preeminent soccer reporter in the U.S., died early Saturday while covering the Argentina-Netherlands quarterfinal match in Doha. He collapsed in the press tribune during the game.

Wahl is one of three journalists who has died while covering the World Cup since it began on November 20. The first was ITV sports director Roger Pearce, who "passed away suddenly" last month inside his hotel. The most recent was a Qatari photojournalist with Al Kass TV, Khalid al-Misslam, who "died suddenly" this past weekend.

Go Morocco!! I can only watch the first half and then need to leave for work. I caught up with the Argentina/Croatia match late last night - was rooting for Croatia, and thought it would be much closer than that. I have to go to work halfway through both matches on Saturday and Sunday as well. It’s very difficult to stay unspoiled!
