Project Runway 2017

Not thrilled with Michelle as the winner but so predictable based on the airtime and comments from some of the people during the season- especially Alyssa. It was my least favorite collection probably of all the top four and I think they didn't want to hand Dmitri yet another win. I would've probably given it to him or Irina, but between the two Dmitri was definitely stronger all season and Michelle had some REALLY off looks.

In Michelle's original winning season, IIRC she somehow narrowly missed being cut at the last minute (they even said they were torn about bringing her into the final), and I have a feeling it was the same this time too.

BTW- some sad news. This was filmed in late-2017 and I'm guessing held by production because of the Weinstein drama, but Irina's mom died a few months after it finished.

ETA2- JC Penney discontinued their relationship with Project Runway prior to airing so that's why we see a 'previously recorded' message every time they said the winning look would be on the site for purchase. They were never there.

I think Dmitri’s yellow dress did him in as did the skirt on Irina’s green one. I guessed Michelle in the opening minutes when she said 70s. Recycling the 70s is all over the runways now. As long as her looks didn’t fall apart, I figured she’d win.

BTW, I don’t appreciate the recycling. I was out shopping a few weeks ago and could barely find anything that wasn’t in my closet 50 years ago. I wore it then and have absolutely no interest in wearing it again.

ITA.

I was very irritated that. when she needed to do something more sophisticated, she had no qualms about "copying" Dmitri.

Michelle's aesthetic; and attitude, is that of a Hippie who never grew up, IMO.

Forget All-Stars. This print challenge is AMAZING. Almost all of the looks—even some of the bottom ones—would have been on the top on All-Stars.

Except Hester’s. Her model looked like a slutty picnic cloth, and I’m not sure why it received the tongue-bathing it did especially when some of the safe ones were sooo good. Hester is a stylist, and an interesting one, but she’s not a designer.

The one thing that made me OK with her winning was her attitude: I LOVE that she said since she has immunity she’s going to be super-weird for next week. I feel like that’s a very-Bravo attitude—the Lifetime ones they almost seemed scared when they had immunity and aimed to just not be in the bottom.

I noticed that world champs won 100,000 but the new bravo show wins 250,000. I bet Dmitry wishes he stayed home. I didn't love his stuff this season, but Michelle's stuff was totally h&m/zara. Not win worthy.

I liked Michelle's but Lifetime always wants a wearable winner so her win made sense. There were a few pieces I liked of Dmitry's, but I don't think his work was as good last season as it was in his other seasons. I liked Irina's; I might have given her the win.
