Prayer request

I am just seeing this post for the first time. I know it has been some time since Wendy had her surgery and I hope she is doing well. I am an ovarian cancer survivor of almost 20 years. In 1998, I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. I had surgery and chemotherapy. Even after all this, my oncologist gave me an expected lifespan of 2-3 years. Well, here I am almost 20 years later (will be 20 in Feb/18). I remember, when I finished chemo, I was desperate to find someone ..ANYONE.. who had survived this disease. I needed to KNOW that it was possible. Well, here I am. It CAN happen. It DOES happen. People DO beat this disease. So, my prayers go out to Wendy that she will be the long time survivor like me. I didn't think I would get to see my older son graduate from university or my younger son graduate from high school. Well, here I am. I've been to all the graduations, both of their weddings and I have 5 grandchildren!! So, YES, stage 3 ovarian cancer CAN be beaten. I will keep Wendy in my prayers.

I am sorry for your friend Wendy for her cancer but glad to read that it has not spread. I hope all goes well for her.

Thank you for that lovely post, @Sally1214! I'm so glad you're doing well, and I'm thankful to report that Wendy has been doing well too in the past couple years. Now, the last I heard, her cancer markers had gone up a little bit, though not to the dangerous zone. But it understandably had her feeling a bit nervous -- especially since she just adopted two little girls! So an extra prayer or two for her right now would not come amiss! Again, thank you.

You are very welcome. I'm very happy to hear that Wendy is doing well. And she adopted 2 little girls ... how wonderful!! The ca125 tumor marker can jump around quite a bit within the normal level. My oncologist was not keen on checking the ca125 very often as he said it just caused women a lot of needless worry when it went up a bit. He said he just couldn't seem to ease a patient's nervousness when her marker went from 4 to 10 or 15 by explaining to her that these are ALL normal readings (anything under 35 is normal). For the woman, if the marker goes up ANY AT ALL from the last test, she just can NOT help but worry. He said that, if cancer did return and the marker went really high (mine was in the thousands during the cancer), the time between when the marker went up and when the woman felt other symptoms would be about 3 weeks and that time delay would make NO difference in the effectiveness of treatment. So, please tell Wendy to TRY not to worry about fluctuating ca125 results within the normal range. I will continue to keep Wendy in my prayers.
