Post IdF 2018 interview with Evgenia Medvedeva

No intention by me to denigrate Med's aesthetic abilities. I think Medvedeva shows in her exhibitions how creative she can be, but her artistic abilities are still developing. I think her previous coaches had her going OTT with exaggerated over-dramatized expressions and program concepts that took away from her actual abilities. So we will see what happens for her going forward. In some ways, perhaps winning the silver instead of gold at 2018 Olympics has stoked such a fire under her to truly grow that I look forward to seeing what she can wrought on the ice (with the help of her new team) in the coming years.

At the Olympics, I think Osmond, Carolina, and Satoko were the best in terms of mature, fully realized artistic skills, with Medvedeva not far behind. But the PCS scores didn't reflect that.

ETA:
Another thing about the interview that stood out is the reference to Eteri staring down Medvedeva at recent competitions. :duh: :drama: I don't think if Medvedeva had brought her flowers that the glares would have been any less negatively intense from Eteri. And Med hints there's a good reason Eteri didn't deserve Med to bring her the traditional 'parting' flowers. I don't doubt Medvedeva's reasoning or her decisionmaking.

Eteri can glare on with pique and intimidation ... Med has more important things to focus on than bitterness, intimidating glares, insults on social media, and sad love song lyrics.

You don't bring me flowers
You don't sing me love songs
You hardly talk to me anymore ...

I remember when
You couldn't wait to love me
Used to hate to leave me ...

It used to be so natural (Used to be)
To talk about forever
But used-to-be's don't count anymore ...

Medvedeva obviously doesn't focus on bitterness etc but she still reminds Eteri and things connected with her.
Eteri is a bad, bad woman but she still gave something to Medvedeva.

^^ And I believe Medvedeva respects the positives that Eteri gave to her. But it doesn't extend to Med being cowed and/ or distracted by Eteri's controlling tactics and intimidation techniques.

Which is why I posted before about the coach as source of the bitter ness. She started mud sling and IMO is trying to and maybe has sabotaged Medvedeva. I say this only of coach. She is the adult that should act a professional. Never a fan of one girl over other girl, and they are both young girls, but I sympathize for Medvedeva over Eteri’s games
