PEOPLE: See Inside Olympian Evan Lysacek’s Opulent Thai Wedding — Including an Ice Palace After-Party!

Wow. Opulent is an understatement. Evan's wife is a stunner.

Wow in general, including the story of how they met and the certitude in their exclamations of joy and complete satisfaction in being together forever, at last. ?

It was somewhat hard to follow the trajectory of their relationship the way it was described in the article, but I suppose the bottom line is that they were meant to be together, though the timing wasn't advantageous when they first met. Their pull of destiny, however, was not to be denied, apparently. Lots of good luck to them, though they don't seem to need it since they have each other, and each other's backs. :D

“'Evan knows me better than anyone and always protects me in every sense of the word. I feel so loved, cared for and protected by him,' Bodiratnangkura says. 'I’m marrying my best friend. I can’t wait to go through every step of life and love together.'

'She completes me,' Lysacek says of his new bride.

'Living life for so many years alone, you become independent and strong and like you can take on the world,' he says. 'And now that we’re together it’s like, God, I can’t imagine living even one second alone anymore without her.’ “

These sentiments sound so lovely and delightful and heartfelt, albeit eerily similar to the exclamations by Sasha Cohen and Michelle Kwan on the occasion of their first weddings. Indeed such joyous comments are probably felt if not publicly expressed by many couples on their wedding day. But since Evan and Dang have known each other for a long time, their joy and completion in each other appears destined to last...

I originally posted this in GSD but Sylvia moved it to The Trash Can. I guess that the topic and the link to the PEOPLE article now warrants a thread in The Great Skate Debate? Interesting. Happy New Year!?

See POST 341 below - that was the thread that I created in The Great Skate Debate on Dec 16, 2019. Sylvia moved it to The Trash Can.

Wow is right.

Evan's celebration makes Meryl Davis and her two 'low key' parties (held on different continents) look like quickie Vegas affairs.

Ah, but the level of wedding opulence, pomp, prestige and bling is not necessarily an accurate measure of depth of love and lasting marriage happiness. ;)

The white-themed decor is gorgeous and elegant. The cake is fabulous. I wonder what it is made of and how it was made and who made it. :)

I notice that Evan has switched his Instagram account to private. I suppose those who were already following him can still obtain access.

All the best to them.

I'm reminded of a former work colleague in the lead-up to her big day. I would dread being trapped in conversation with her. Every day it was another aspect from catering, to the venue, to guests, to her vows, to her honeymoon, not to mention the dress.

I think we even made up a word for her insufferable outbursts. Stand clear of Renee. She's having another moregasm.

^^ Sounds like she needed an established go-to wedding planner, a chill-pill and a dose of reality regarding what marriages are all about once the elaborate planning and the highly anticipated wedding day is over. ;)

The funny thing was, when I asked her how her 'big day' went, she said, 'it was nice'. Nice?!?!?!

For that amount of money, I would want fireworks shooting out of every orifice.

It was nice having her out of the office for a month when she was away on her honeymoon, though.

Huh? Sylvia doesn't have the power to do anything like that.
I had to open the ignored post to see what you were accused by one of our posters I blocked. . Personally I’m really glad you Started it. I never see threads started by some of our less enjoyable members and this is a really cute story

Beautiful wedding and stunning couple! I’m very, very happy for them. I’ve always been a big admirer of Evan. He worked harder than almost anyone else to achieve his goals, even when others may have had more natural talent. He gave his fans such a moment at the 2010 Olympics...I’ll always remember the back stage footage and reactions when he and Frank learned he had won. I though he was wonderful as runner up on DWTS too. I’ve missed him in the skating world. I hope USFS keeps in touch with him and invites him to big events. I’ve seen him around US Nationals a time or two. He’s a class act in my book. Wishing the happy couple the best!

Instagram went to private because if all the adverse, but true comments. Obviously lots of people are on to him and he could not deal with it. Only skater that has a private IG. FYI, Vera herself did not design the various wedding gowns.

It really sounds like some bitter people are bullying Evan online from the description above and are using their perception of his sexuality - probably based on superficial things and stereotypes - as way to attack him like sexuality is a weapon to be used. It’s quite sad all-around.
